Description I started out playing with the celesta and harpsichord and wound up with this. The only loops in the piece are the drums (which have been edited); the rest was composed and recorded on my keyboard.

It has been reported that cats like this song. I don't know the reason for this.

to take the music.
Thanks for sharin..

Peaceful tune, I like the buildup, very calming, GJ~!

Ambles along
like the lovely stream in your artwork. My only suggestion
is to replace or drop the drums. I liked it better in the
beginning and end w/ no percussion.

Ambles along
While I wouldn't drop drums completely I would definitely try something
different. These drums sounds too loopy and fakeish. Like a preset on a
keyboard or something :)

What I _did_ forget to mention, rather stupidly, was to say how much I liked the
song otherwise. Hehe :)

Definite Daydream Material
Very relaxing piece, definitely new-agey (isn't new age
"old" now?). You changed its feel a bit from my early
sneak peek, adding the celesta more throughout (instead
of just as bookends) is better. It's still awfully short for
such a sweet piece, I'd love to hear a refrain or something
so you could lengthen it... I was just getting to the good
part of the daydream when it stopped! :-) And very nice
photo you took there too.

Delightful and Dreamy

A lovely piece you've written here!
Nice build up of the 'voices' and a dreamy instrumental
journey.
Thank you for posting this here! :)

the drums

Very Sweet
I have to say- I listened to this on vacation in a state of
extreme relaxation.... now I'm in a semi-vegatative state.

This is truly a beautiful song!

Magritte said 1358 days ago
Very Sweet
Thanks all for the comments, I'm really glad you enjoyed this.

To those who don't like the drums, I've had trouble with that from the beginning (drakonis nixed the original loop) but have been determined to keep them in to give the piece some momentum. After your comments I'm thinking perhaps I need to find a different way to do that. Thanks for the constructive criticism!

I took the photo on a hike to Sturtevant Falls in the San Gabriel mountains near Pasadena. Pretty day, nice hike...this piece brings back memories of that beautiful place.

Sturtevant Falls?
Ahhhhhh.... We used to go there all the time when I was just a kidlet and we
lived in the San Gabriel area. Man....now that just makes me homesick for
that hike.
Lovely place....I'll go back and listen to this lovely song again and think of
that hike ;)

Very nice arrangement. I just love that celesta, they way
you use it. Really a pleasant listen. Much enjoyed.

Nice Flow...
Haven't tested this on the cat, but I like it. I have to agree
with some of the other comments, however, and say that I
think I would enjoy it more without percussion.

Joanna said 1357 days ago
Nice melody
This is very relaxing. I love the flute. Great how you trade
the melody between the different instruments. Well done.

Good
I'm sorry to have to agree with others to nix the drums. It
makes it sound a little too toyish. I've done several
compositions of this nature (no pun intended) and drums
seem to trap my creativity. They become a crutch... for me
anyway.

But the drums here really take away from the serenity of
the piece.

If you're married to the drums... oh well, just a
suggestion.

I like the tune anyway. Thanks for sharring. (I may be
brave enough to post one of my instrumentals... uh,
maybe not...)

Magritte said 1325 days ago
Good
Nah, the more I listen to it the more I agree with all the comments about the drums. I still think I want some percussion in there, but closer to what's on the bridge. The main drums are starting to bug ME now! I appreciate your and everyone's comments, and have no problem at all with the constructive criticism :-)

alley-oop said 1325 days ago
Very pretty
You have wonderful melodic themes running through your composition. It immediately stirred the memory of holding my beautiful baby daughter, when she was small enough to hold that is. It is one of my most cherished memories.
Thank you for that.
Drums don't bother me.
I think you should compose another track similar to this and sing. I think it could be something about the deaf people you work with. Your music and your friends not being able to hear it. It's got to be something you've thought about.
Just an idea.

Magritte said 1322 days ago
Very pretty
Wow...what a lovely thing to say about this piece. That was really nice of you to share that.

I admit I've sort of been toying with the idea of doing a piece I can sing to, but I have to get past the shyness. (Which you wouldn't believe if you ever saw me do The Devil Went Down to Georgia at karaoke!)

I haven't really considered the theme you mention about my deaf friends, because half of them like music anyway and half of them just don't care about it! I'll have to chew on it for a while. Thanks for your comment!

Very pretty
Shy? what's there to be shy about here in the cyber world? There's something
good about laying it on the line, Miss Magritte
Actually, the pretty melody of Daydream and your job have inspired me on
my next song. And I lay it on the line.

Feline Phenomenon
Magritte, this is another great composition with wonderful layering. I would love to hear an acoustic guitar in place of the harpsichord; I feel that it would open the song up more. I can certainly envision a little kitty basking on a warm, soft sofa, gazing out a window on a sunny morning while dreaming of catnip and whatnot. Now that I think about it, this song would go well in any movie in which Diane Keaton has starred. I don't know why exactly, but it seems appropriate for the types of characters she's played. Nice photo, by the way.

This is a very pretty piece.
If you close your eyes, it takes you away. You have a great gift. Thanks.
