Description Here's the skinny on this song:

First posted in January- In March I turned it into a project to make the song better by taking feedback from other members into consideration. This will be the fourth (and final) version of this song and is dramatically different from the previous editions and features collaborative efforts from several MJ friends.

The Friends are:

RonnieLong- Screamin' Lead Guitar
Syncopatient- Organ, drum work and mastering in Logic Express
Alimar- Pre-mixing and Song Art
AClarke- All Vocals, rhythm guitars, bass and initial drums

Thanks to: PGreenstone, Bonka, Mystified and every other MJer I've forced this song upon. Last and not least- everyone who has offered constructive criticism and positive reinforcement along the way. Thank you!

Sit back, turn the volume to 11 and enjoy this song of Rock and Roll dreams!
Lyrics Right on time
Ready to go
Ready to live your life of rock and roll
You're out of your mind
with nothing to show
For dreams of a better life
and a pot of gold

(spoken)
Oh Man you just living now
Turn it up!
Bring it on!

You never ever told me it'd be this hard
I'd have to work so hard just to get a job
and now my dreams in reach but I can't find
the one last thing it takes to blow your mind
blow your mind
Yeah

Right or wrong
Rich or poor
get closer to the gate
before they close the door
you're taking your time
you're doing the right thing
gettin' closer to the glory
and the pain it brings

Aw man, whatcha gonna do now
you ain't got nothin'
huh
Reach down
Nice and slow
Walk around....

Love this tune. Great job to everyone involved. Wow!

Very impressive
Thanks, DE! Your opinion means a lot!

I've sorta...
followed this song from it's first 3(?) versions to now. It kept getting better and better with each release until I was eventually anticipating ROT showing up in the new songs list. Great collab. Ronnie is smokin'. Mix sounds excellent. Love the drums. Upbeat rock and roll. Fantastic! Thx for sharing your tune here.

aclarke said 1358 days ago
I've sorta...
Thanks Skipper- Luv you, man! As you know this didn't start out to be a
collab but I'm really please it did and ecstatic about how it turned out. Glad
you didn't get sick of it before it got to this point!

Some fine Rock N' Roll
Its rocks hard 70's style, its hard driven and smooth,
great job!

Mystified said 1364 days ago
Awesome!

This is just proof of what can happen when you get great
musicians together.
Fab job--everyone! Rock on! :)

man, this turned out smokin. glad you showed it some
love. props to all involved

alanfraser said 1364 days ago
Added to Fav
so I can check it out when I get home. Anything that gets bombed as much as this tune has got to be good!

TennesseeVic said 1364 days ago
Solid!
Good rock song, great vocals, excellent guitar, good
sounding production.

Just one comment: there is an organ in there somewhere,
but it's never very prominent. Maybe have one verse or
chorus where the organ takes precedence over the guitar?

aclarke said 1358 days ago
Solid!
Thanks for the listen, Vic. Yes, the organ is there but the intent was more for
accentuation and balance than as a centerpiece. The song from the onset was
intended to be guitar driven. Props to Synco for adding this element without
changing the texture of the tune.

snowdragon said 1364 days ago
Screw 'em
Screw the bombers and the horse they rode in on.
Damned fine tune.

ronnielong said 1364 days ago
:)
Was glad to get a chance to play on such a kick ass tune!
Rock on y'all.....

Oh, and Thanks for the comments! ;)

Cheers!

Ps. The bombers are just jealous...they know they can't
hang with this. Bombers aint nuthin but a bunch of NO
TALENT wankers.

aclarke said 1355 days ago
:)
Thanks, Ronnie! That's so true. Hey man, I really appreciate what you did on
this- nailed that lead perfectly for the song! Keep rockin'!

AquilA said 1363 days ago
Solid...
...rock tune. Good mix of instruments, and nice interplay of vocals. All components are balanced and well represented. Sweet guitar lead but it sounds like it's got a Vai-like pitch shift in it and it might have come out a little more 'in your face' without it, but maybe that's just my personal tastes coming through. I downloaded it, put it on my iPod, and output it through my stereo just to make sure it wasn't my headphones. Having done that, I also found that it grows on you after a couple of plays, which is a really good sign.

aclarke said 1358 days ago
Solid...
Glad it's growing on you. One thing I did realize is that this does sound best
and more in your face at high volumes.

I give ronnielong a ton of credit on this for playing a kick-ass solo that wasn't
too over the top but fit the song perfectly. Thanks for the listen! I really
appreciate it! AC

all the way around.

Great Job
You've really improved this as you have gone along. I
agree with you that this is the best yet. Just goes to show
you what a little hard work and persistence can do. I need
to get some of that work ethic into my own stuff.

Z293 said 1363 days ago
How many times can
you make this song better? The point is it gets better
everytime. Straight up rock at its best.

Nice to see this sort of collaboration. Excellent gathering
of talent. Has a quality bar band feel to it. You all are
rockin! Great guitar work, ronnielong. Alimar, "pre-
mixing" sounds sketchy...is that something like providing
the tossed salad? Song art is well done. Logic mastering
makes a big difference, aye? I know from experience!
AClarke, this is a vast improvement over the draft I first
heard. Your vocals are really stabbing the air now.

fairy beth said 1362 days ago
good stuff mate
Not my kinda thing, but major tallent going on there.
GREat vocals. Excellent guitar and drums.

Like the terrific talking too.

Enjoyed the tune...
I actually listened and rated this earlier this week, but
didnt have a chance to comment.

Good solid rock tune... and we don't see a huge amount of
those here!

Production could use a little work. This song is lacking in
mid-range presence especially in the guitar tone. While
the playing (guitar) is very good, the over crunched tone
might be better done with a nice "british" amp tone (a'la
AC/DC) to accompany the feel of this song.

Keep up the good work guys. Nice collab!

aclarke said 1355 days ago
Enjoyed the tune...
Thanks! Believe it or not, there is a more biting guitar (Angus style) in there-
it seems to have gotten buried a bit- but it's there. I appreciate you giving a
listen and providing some real valuable feedback!

Your voice is great! Kind of Dire Straits-ish, only it rocks
harder. Very cool. I didn't hear the earlier versions of the
song, but this certainly sounds complete to me!

DRUMS?
The drums in the song sound cheesy. Maybe a little more of an authentic drumbeat and this tune might sound much better. Everything else sounds good.

aclarke said 1328 days ago
DRUMS?
Thanks for the listen and the words. Personally, I like the drums in the song
but don't expect everyone to agree with my taste either. Peace.

thoughts from the bull...
if music is in part about just pure fun, then that's what i
got from this one!

from the song art to the groove to the head-bang-ability,
this tune just keeps it moving and well!

i just love the fingery guitarwork. the whole thing is tight
and gels well. awesome organ and vocals!

had a good time with your song... thank you!

Very Halen
How cool is that... a reference to one of my favorite albums of all time. Yes,
the vinyl copy is still in my possession (though down in the basement). Have
to give credit where it's due- ronnielong for the lead fretwork and
Syncopatient for the organ. Without question, it was a very fun collab!
Thanks!

That's the rock station i listen to every morning growing up.
I have alway's dug rock, and you DID NOT dissapoint!
BOSTON, was my favorite rock group, this took me back!
I loved that bass line, (it had elements of funk) the way it kept moving. The vocal arrangment was top -notch!
Most people don't know the diffilculty in vocal arrangment,
way to go. Next time more guitar solo!

Great Track

Very cool, Cecil. What I really dig is that you liked the bass line. As a guitar
player, I'm marginal at best (that's why ronnielong did the lead) and this was
only the second time I've played bass on a song. Glad you listened- I've been
loving the tunage you've posted too!

aclarke said 1319 days ago

Straight up rawk!
Good stuff all the way around. Liked the bass work, although I'm opposed on principle to guitar player doin' bass playin', gonna put us 4-stringers out of work! :)
Nice work on the vox as well! More of this!! Thanks for sharing.

aclarke said 1197 days ago
Straight up rawk!
Very cool, Steve! Glad you liked it. Good news is your job as a kickass bass player is safe... I don't really fancy myself much of a guitar or bass player. Just know enough to be a little dangerous! Thanks for the listen, brothah man!

mandolinquent said 1186 days ago
very very cool song..
Lovely singing too. And I am just knocked out by ronnielong's playing..
especially at the end.

Hmm
This song is GREAT. I heard it yeaterday but I didn't LISTEN to it. And I didn't read the lyrics. I think this song has a deeper meaning and I can honestly relate to it. Definitely going into the ipod as a motivational piece. If for no other reason than meeting you...Glad I came to MacJams. Please keep up the good work you never know who you're going to inspire.
