Description Another collaboration between me and Pennsylvania drummer drlaine. He's playing real drums. I sent him my piano/bass file, and he put the drums in. Actually, he sent me a drums-only file, and I mixed it together in GB2.

I am playing piano live. Although I will admit that I did a lot of punch-in and alternate takes for various phrases in the track.

This is Beethoven's Ode To Joy. The tune in the middle may seem a bit out of place, but ever since I learned it on piano about two years ago, I have been impressed by the simple yet profound beauty of this little gem of a piece, first heard in the 1950s. Two gems in one, here. The two melodies have beauty in common, even though separated by an ocean and a couple of centuries.

The bass sound comes from Sonic Boom Box. I'm light on the bass on this track because I did so much left-hand-root.

The piano is Synthogy Ivory's "Jazz C7," with a little bit of brightness added from the Apple AU 31-Band graphic equalizer. A very handy tool.

Had to run the piano part through DP first, then imported the piano AIFF to GB for final mixdown.

For some reason the 128kbps mp3 sounded rotten, and so did the 160kbps, but when I booted it up to 192kbps, the distortion mostly went away (to my ear anyway -- maybe you can hear some artifacts that I am missing).

So it's a bigger file than most I have uploaded, but at 4mb, it's not too bad. Better than rotten sound!

	I Love Lucy too I was thinking this was very much in the style of Charlie Brown Christmas album music, but when the Lucy quote came in, I laughed thinking this isn't Charlie Brown's Lucy. :) Your piano playing is very enjoyable.

	Ask and ye shall receive. The idea for the Lucy bridge? I have been falling in love with that tune for the last year or two, and as I was working out the Ode to Joy jazz piano part, that tune began "knocking on the door" of my consciousness, and begged to be put in. Kind of like "Put me in, Coach!" sung by that guy from Creedence Clearwater Revival -- can't remember his name.
