Description The first song I co-wrote with my friend Tracy and she is the singer and I am the everything else. I really didn't know where to post this. It is sort of bluesy but not really a blues. It has a little jazz in it but is not really jazz. So I guess it is folk by default.
Lyrics So how have you been now baby
Did you see what you wanted to see
I heard you made the rounds, all over town
With a girl who looks surprisingly like me

I sat with her the other day
We didn't know each other then
She said that you were down and
Wearing a frown
Well I didn't mean to get under your skin

Do you sing to her when the shadows come calling?
Do you cling to her when your soul is crying?
Do you know she is?

Well it's been a long, long time
I used to see your eyes in the sky
But I could never see your soul unfold
and fly so high

We made love by firelight, those logs were burning bright
But it all means nothing now because I nearly died from the cold

Chorus

great song
Hey, thanks Koolpaw!!!

You are our first fan. Yes, I would have called it blues myself but I have found
that to so many people blues only means Chicago style with hard driving
rhythm, electric guitars and wailing harmonica. But anyway like you said who
cares what you call it, just so long as you like it is all we care about. Tracy
and I have co-written seven or eight more songs and I will be trying to get
good recordings of those to post in the future as well as some of my solo
stuff.

Thanks,

Tom

Solid tune
A classic. really nice mix of blues, jazz, folk. And the
lyrics sing just right. There is a phasing in your vocals that
seems unintentional, where a cleaner sound would work
better, more a cabaret mix. But fine tune nicely played.

Really nice
I agree with the others that it's blues. I also agree with
Tobin that a cleaner sound for the vocals (without the
effects/phasing) would kick this up several notches. As is,
there's too much distance on the vocals. The guitar (great
guitar work) is right up front and sounds wonderful. The
vocal performances are excellent, so show them off, don't
hide them!

nice tune
I've heard this before.

Like the whole thing. A little too much noise the
recording I noticed at the end. But good job otherwise that
I can tell
