Description First time using a MAC as well as Garageband. Time of creation from start to completion of this little ditty was about 25 minutes for 36 second song. No instructions read...just intuition. Guitar tracks just spontaneous outbursts based on drum loop. As this is my first attempt at recording I'd like to hear some constructive feedback.

great bass line
i would build around that bass. as far as recording
play areound with all the settings and parameters
that you can apply to each track or the entire master
track. think about what isnt playing as well as what is

great bass line
Thanks for the tip! I didn't do anything with the master track...at the time I
wasn't aware I could. The bass line was a loop that I transposed a few notes in
a couple of spots. Now if only I could transpose some of my guitars notes!

Good mix
Sounds like you got the levels right. I can hear all the
instruments and nothing gets buried. Overall, it sounds a
little muddy. You should cut back on the mid range a
little. I would play with the EQ settings on each of the
instruments and then the master track. Also, you could
play with the reverb a little to get everything in the right
place. Good luck!

Good mix
I appreciate the EQ tip...I was going more for the tone of each individual track
and didn't mess with EQ at all. I will be sure to try that. Thanks!

pretty good guitar sound
i like the compressed lead sound your getting. looking
forward to more songs from you!

pretty good guitar sound
Thanks. I can't remember what I did exactly though I'm pretty sure I did use
some compression on the lead track...truth is, I was trying to cover up my
clumsy lead playing and tried different things until I got a sound I liked. I'm
hoping to put some more guitar based stuff up soon.

Better than the first thing I ever recorded-
For sure. My first recording sounded like an
asthmatic monkey squawking into a garbage can
during a monster truck ralley. I say that
conservatively.

The Song Is Good, For a start!
If you wanted some constructive critism, im pretty good at that. First of all, let me compliment you, I really like the song! But, you can build the guitar a bit more, and play around with some of the effects in the sofwatre that you use. I'm sure you can put together an ok piece in 25 minutes, but why don't you sit down for a few hours and really compose a song! But it was great for a start! Really cool, keep up the good work AClarke!

The Song Is Good, For a start!
Hey- thanks for the feedback. It's much appreciated. This was basically a test of Gargage Band for me. Oddly enough, I've been contemplating building on this. Thanks again for your suggestions!

make it longer please
I like this a lot. As with others comments, this was very good for a first try, especially in light of having a real instrument in the mix and not being 100% loops.

My main criticism is that is just not long enough. I would like to hear a new version that is longer and not chopped off at the end.

I also like how the guitar nearly speaks at times. You could really develop that into something as well.

Hitting your first
Hey, this is good. I mean the drums could have been busier, but I dug it.
Cuts off suddenly, but you know that.

Too funny!
heheh- it does cut off... that's about where my impromptu guitar solo fell apart (and one the reasons I leave the heavy duty soloing to the big boys)!

Thanks for checking out the real old stuff- not the best but certainly was good for learning and a great Macjams jumping off point.

Thank you, Dee!
This was the first song I tried with Garage Band... I used loops for the drums and for the bass... I played the guitar. Then I discovered Macjams.... and now you know... the rest of the story.
