Description This is a remix of "This Guitar Won't Play - (Love Songs Anymore)". I went through the song and made some corrections and changes that I think improve the song enough to warrant reposting it.

The original version is at -- http://www.macjams.com/song/48107 if you want to check out the differences between the 2. I'm also working on an total redo of this with lyrics and major changes in the structure, but that's gonna take a while to finish.

Thanks for you patience and for listening, I hope you enjoy this slightly more refined version.

Be well and be cool, and thanks again

Ed

Haven't
heard the first one yet but this sounds great.Kind of like a Dead jam!

sloparts said 40 days ago
Thanks Mark
The first one had some guitar conflicts going on that I fixed, and I pulled up the volume on the piano and electric piano parts , and gave them some spca in the mix so they would really add something to the mix.

This started out as a test of the mew mic I bought a week or so ago and just blossomed into what you heard tonight. Glad you enjoyed the song my friend and I do appreciate the kind words on it. Thanks again for listening Mark.

Be well and be cool,

Ed

Thanks for coming back to this one again and listening to the remix Feter. I'm glad you enjoyed the sounds I put together on the different guitars. I'm writing lyrics for it now and will have a new song in the future, but not until I can get it done. I want the song version to be worth the wait so I'm going to take my time.

Thanks again for stopping in Feter.

Be well and be cool,

Ed

Loved the first one
Absolutely adore this one!

Nice work Ed... Really nice!

Thanks Mark
Glad you like this one better my friend, and took time to let me know. I've got a major redo in the works, but it'll be some time before I'm even close to posting it. For one thing, I've got too much going on to really concentrate on it, and for another I want the next one to be perfect.

Thanks again Mark

This Guitar Won't Play
wow - i'd say, this guitar WILL play! You're a master, this just slides down in the best possible way!

Thanks Karen
Well, the original title of the song was "This Guitar Won't Play - (Love Songs Anymore)", so with that title the song fits it better. I just got lazy when I posted this new version.

I'm glad you enjoyed this track Karen and I very much appreciate you listening and sending along the great comments.

Be well and be cool my friend,

Ed

Thanks Jack
Gotta love those crying guitars my friend.

Thanks for listening Jack and the great comment. Glad you enjoyed the track.

Got a lyrical version in the works, but I need to change the structure and add a chorus to it for that to work.

Be well and be cool,

Ed

Nice
This is really nice. The guitars are outstanding - lovely sound on everything acoustic and electric, and great, great playing. I really like your use of the keys, although I'd bring up that tremolo style organ (1:25...) a notch. This has a sweet, laidback groove that is so smooth. Truly an excellent piece. I'm off to check out the pervious version! Kudos, my friend. Peace.

Thanks David
Basically what I tried to do on this one was just clean up any conflicts between the parts, and adjust the levels to get a better balance between them. I cut out some of the Electric Guitar part because it wasn't working smoothly with the rest of the mix there in the first 10 or 12 measures.

I read you post on the original and I really appreciate the comments on both of these David. Helps to keep me motivated and you always have excellent suggestions for things you hear in the mix that could stand a little tweaking.

Thanks again for the feedback my friend. and for taking time to listen to them. You're Aces David,

Ed

Southern... fried?
I do believe this is the finest, clearest guitar I've ever heard you play. Looks like the old "country star" has started smoking the herb and turned into a southern rocker!

Good munchies to you, my southern fried friend!

sloparts said 33 days ago
Man I am so damn hungry right now too
Must have been something I inhaled.

I used the new MXL-4000 mic on the acoustic lead and rhythm parts and went straight into the board with the electric. I used the Takamine solid body on this one and it has a lot of sustain so I tweaked the sound on the electric after I recorded it.

About that Southern Rocker thing, About a month ago I was a Chicago Blues man and before that it was Jazz and before that it was Funk. I guess I'm just lost and trying to find my way, or else I'm a chameleon.

Thanks for the listen my friend and the kind (I think) words. ;-)

Say hi to the family for me

Be well and be cool my Mountain Man Hillbilly friend.

Ed

Ahhh, don't cry Pat
Glad you liked the song my friend. If I'd have known about this reaction before, I'd have done all my songs this way. ;-)

Thanks for listening and the great comments Pat. Merry Christmas to you and yours. Be well and be cool,

Ed

There
is something about this that makes you want more, there seems to be layers and layers of themes and sub-themes.It builds up and for my money could keep on building for longer ....

and how did you get it (the gtr)) to sound like whale song at one point about 45 secs in.....or do I need to visit ENT again? And how did the drums come about 'cos I cannot make out if they are fake or real...Jarvo the Unready

sloparts said 30 days ago
Hello Chris
I don't really have an answer for you about how I did this Chris. I began this project as a test for the new MXL 4000 mic I just bought. First I recorded an acoustic lead, then added an acoustic rhythm track. After that I built up the bass and drum tracks and it just sort of blossomed from there.

The lead part at the 45 sec mark was just me stretching strings on a harmonic note i had played I think. As for the drums, they are all loops that I manipulated until I had the sound and feel I wanted.

Okay now here's the real story Chris, It's all done with smoke and mirrors. ;-) lol

Thanks for coming by to listen my friend. I really appreciate your comment and I'm glad you liked the song.

Stay well and be cool my friend.

Ed

Smoke and mirrors is easy .....it's getting the gtr to stand still that I find tricky!!!

Joe Brady said 29 days ago
Tres cool!
Can't write love songs when the guitar's crying like that; but you may be able to write a "leave my heart alone 'cause you've hurt me enough" song. Very nice sound Ed, I think a great base to build either lyrically or just with the electric guitar crying a little more in the spotlight, ala Jeff Beck. Very nice soundscape, especially when the organ comes in; wouldn't mind a wee bit more of spotlight on that too, but I may be being gluttonous (is that a word?)

Joe

Thanks Joe
I've got another version in the works on this that includes a chorus and a slightly different arrangement. I also have most of the lyrics written but haven't finished them yet. Still need a 4th verse and possibly a bridge. I might also work on a slightly more refined version of this instrumental, but it'll have to wait a while what with the holidays being almost upon us.

Really glad you enjoyed this one Joe, and left the great comments and thoughts about it. I'll keep you suggestions in mind as this project progresses, they're some very good thoughts my friend.

Thanks again for listening and the kind words Joe, it's appreciated,

Be well and be

BECK!!!
This totally gave me flashbacks (not too far back tho.) It has the same ambience of Becks album Golden Age. I love your sound and production. crystal clear and pro sounding. Excellent tone on those guitars too.

sloparts said 18 days ago
Thanks Brian
Glad you dropped in for a listen and enjoyed the song. I was trying to make my guitar cry for me when I did this and It came out pretty well I think. It could still use a little more work of course, they always can, but I'm gonna leave it alone or now and maybe come back to it at some time in the future.

Thanks again for listening and for your very kind words my friend, they are appreciated.

Be well and be cool,

Ed
