several small garden gnomes
gathered together, forming a pict! This is weirdly interesting, I like it. I'm envisioning you being startled one morning finding your entire garden shed re-arranged, and then setting up and watching a security camera tape, where you wanted to capture just what the HECK was going on all weekend in there while you were asleep. So, were the gnomes playing the saw and rake, or did the tools compost this all by themselves?

Drakonis

Smokey...
I wrote a comment. It looked like it posted. Then, poof, it was gone. (The dragon hexed me or something.)
I think it went something like this: This sounds like a flock of seagulls rummaging around in your garage, playing with a dog's squeaky toys and tearing up towels with their "bills." You are a wild and crazy guy. I'd like this to be even longer. I'll have to listen a couple more times. A lot of fun and a little bit loony. Thanks.

i could have sworn i was replying to your post, but when the screen refreshed, there was drak's comment. i simply assumed i was hallucinating. silly me.

thanks

now i'm certain it was Robert Goulet

drakonis said 47 days ago
It wasn't me!
It was either the garden gnomes, or Robert Goulet. I would never hex anybody's comment!

Char said 45 days ago
Yeah, well... you
did something. You don't know your own power. I'll have to be more careful around you, from now on. Blitzed my comment, naughty, naughty!

drakonis said 45 days ago
but...
I was always told it is really a bad idea to have hex in a garden shed. (smrx)

LOve the tearing that travels across the audio field
and the variety of sounds and rhythms that develop over time. Really cool experiment. Is this all your own field recording?

SmokeyVW said 46 days ago
.
these are all field recordings done around the house. in an attempt to get back to basics, i gathered up a bunch of sounds a little while ago. i recently put some of the better ones up on freesound.org too.

some of that material went into Quellek http://www.macjams.com/song/47601

i guess it's my own take on musique concrete

the tearing sound is a newspaper being torn while i held the recorder within an inch or so of the paper. it got some great near-field sound - the stereo motion was an unexpected surprise

thanks

this is very cool, i'm listening to it with my little girl and she's jumping around going crazy. kids got good taste. very interesting, will have to look for your freesound page.

SmokeyVW said 46 days ago
.
some folks would say this is not music. it's nice to hear it reached a child's interest. i would count that as a success!

thanks

there is a pointer to my freesound acct on my profile page
