Description I finally got my Line 6 Toneport installed on my new laptop and could plug in and jam. Been messing with loops or live recordings lately and this is the first good ole GB joint I've done in a while. So - as you might expect I sat down and ashed it out fast because time is tight (what's new) and I'm impatient. So here's a half baked 2 chord number named after a tremolo setup in the L 6 Gear Box software.
Looped drums - 1 bass track (Ibanez Road Star II) - 3 guitar tracks (Danelectro 59 DC).
Maybe next time I'll actually write a song.

It's...
...amazing what you come up with in such a hurry with the inspiration of some very slick plugins. I am totally taken with the groove [not my standard parlance] of this arrangement. The wildly improved lead can go even further...It has such a great start to it. Like you said, "Maybe next time I'll actually write a song." Well, you have the basis for a good one already. Keep this and build on it. Nice.
Peace.
Paul
P.S. Feter must be busy. I think I'm first in line...Oh, oh... better hurry up!

bud said 55 days ago
Amazing - you beat Feter
I hope he's OK. Nice of you to drop by with such encouraging comments. I wish I were in control of my improvisations the way you are. What you hear is basically my best shot at throwing some sound at the wall and hoping it fits. Many years of idle practice and refusal to actually study my instrument have left me with a modicum of style I guess.

Vic Holman said 55 days ago
must of been modeled
..after the green day song, the tremolo that is.

anyway cool jamming Kevin. you made really good use of the effects. the tune grooves!

bud said 55 days ago
Good point Vic
I never would have thought of that. I'll have to listen to the song to see it it's the case. Thanks for giving a listen.

LunaTrick said 55 days ago
Well done Bud
You got a good sound going here...

bud said 54 days ago
Means a lot coming from you
Thanks.

lengold said 54 days ago
Love this
groove bud - really rocks along. Fine guitar paying and sounds great in my headphones. Downloaded. Thanks.
Cheers
Len

bud said 54 days ago
Thanks Len
It was headphones all the way for me - only heard it through speakers after it was posted.

egobandit said 54 days ago
jammin
the only way to inspiration. Love the bass on this.cool riffin and leading. I love the off the top spotinaity man did I spell that wrong.

bud said 54 days ago
I can't spell that word either
I usually avoid using it. Thanks Tim.

Rocha Malhada said 54 days ago
huge
Love the crunch in the positively weighted bass. Combine that with the cadence you have going in the drums and slicked over with the nice guitar parts and you did the formula for what I call Heavy Rock..

DL'd, thanks

bud said 54 days ago
Nice of you to stop by Harold
I sat down to do something sensitive - and this what happened. I found my hammer and not my paintbrush.

lavalamp said 54 days ago
Phase me up Scotty
Late night club action. Were you in San Francisco circa 1994 jamming with me in a shady club half-drunk? If so, good to hear from you again. lol

Cool one Bud,

Dave

bud said 54 days ago
Half drunk in Frisco is dangerous
those hills are steep. Completely drunk is a lot safer - you roll better when you fall. Thanks Dave.

tokai said 54 days ago
hi Bud
i reckonise that interface, i got something similar with my Pod xt. You can't pigeon hole your style which is refreshing. Once again, it is that bass sound that carries this piece with some slick sound bites. Cheers.

bud said 54 days ago
I actually started with drums and a bass loop
to jam with - then I replaced the loop with my own bass and changed the feel a little.

Ejh said 54 days ago
Nice thrashulescent...
...crunchitude in the tune...Nice the way the double-picked bass climbs right along with the high hat...

Makes me want to try the Toneport again...And gets me sitting here playing along...

Much fun...

Ed

bud said 54 days ago
Kind words Ed
Thanks. I like trash..crunch.

I purposely left keys off this. I was sorely tempted too.

regulus said 54 days ago
Definitely

Heck Phillip
all I got is nuts at this point. The older I get the clearer that becomes. Thanks for dropping by.

Ibstrat said 53 days ago
This
is a great immprov.Neil Young jamming with Janis Joplin's band? I seriously like your guitar playing.

bud said 53 days ago
From you
that's a real compliment - you play the pants off a guitar.

Rik_Berryere said 53 days ago
Yeeeks
....every now and then, it kind of hits me like a ball-peen hammer right between the eyes how good you can really *play* that damned guitar. When Frank Zappa sez "shut up n' play yer guitar!" you just flip a quick thumbs-up and GO. It's like my brain can only process one concept at a time (Bud's high-voltage creativity output...... or Bud's out-of-the-box arrangement ideas... or Bud's literary clarity..... one at a time, one at a time!!!)

You call it 'throwing musical ideas at a wall?' I suppose.... this one stuck, big time. I've listened to this at least six times now, listening to that guitar, and can't get the grin off my face. The groove is just right on the sweet spot. And I have no idea where the sweet spot is - if I trip over it it's purely by accident - but when someone else finds it... that's the ticket, oh yeah.

Zappa used to do plenty of stuff like this; stretch it out a bit to give that guitar some room, and it's a song. Not everything needs vocals, not everything needs structure, not everything needs raisin pie... although that never hurts. This is a great song as is, Bud.

Rik
Just reading your comments makes posting worthwhile. I always enjoy your words of wit and wisdom. Thanks again for unleashing your pen on this little number.

tempie said 53 days ago
half baked?
man i'm not as good as this after playing the same lead ten days in a row trying to get it right - can't believe you just sat down and pushed record. best thing about it is that you don't play traditional "lead" riffs - those canned jams that everybody whips out when they have to "improvise" - you have your own sense of timing and melody and rhythm and as a result your leads have a lot of personality - trashy personality lol but I like that.

bud said 53 days ago
I seem to be getting known for being
trashy. Fine with me - it's always been my comfort zone. Truth is I don't know how to play those stock leads and often wish I could. They'd come in handy at times I bet. Love you too.

michael2 said 53 days ago
awesome
loving this. you are sick when you want to be. that tremolo is awesome (don't know what green day song you guys are going on about). what amp setting did you use for that lead sound, sounds amazing. glad you're around again.

BTW i think that you are eligible for that free POD farm upgrade Line 6 has right now. I love it.

bud said 53 days ago
I think Vic was talking about
Boulevard of Broken Dreams - but I haven't checked it for the reverb. The lead is a tweaked version of the L 6 Fuzzie-Wuzzie setting. It took a while to find the right verb speed to synch with the drums - but when I did I fell in love. I try to do this stuff live - but it's pretty challenging to keep on tempo.
Happy to be back.

Karmatoburn said 53 days ago
my love
of 2 chord jams knows no bounds. I could do it for days (have actually but wouldn't recommend it :-). You got a little Frank Z in you! Nice one

songs? we don't need no stinkin songs!

jam on

bud said 53 days ago
Never gave Zappa a thought
but I liked Hot Rats a lot. I'm gonna try three chords next. Hope you're cool with that.

Karmatoburn said 52 days ago
Frank
came out with a series of albums (mostly off the radar) entitled "shut up and play your guitar" "return of SUAPYG" and so forth. They were out takes from his live concerts where he literally wailed over a 2 chord jam for 20 minutes at a whack. I think you'd dig it, if you're a connoisseur of the like. Your playin/approach very much reminded me of these little treasures.

The Infinites said 52 days ago
Keep this and build on it.
Wise words from PFP.

You must have some words lying around that could slot right in here, no?

Great sounds, Kev.

Jim

bud said 52 days ago
Might be some words laying around
I'll have to look under the couch. Sure to find a sock if nothing else. Thanks for the support Jim.

rip roaring rockin Holiday. Love that guitar sound.
