Description I posted an earlier version of this I wasn't particularly happy with about a week ago. It just wasn't sitting right with me and I came close to scrapping everything. But I put it up anyway and asked for MacJammers' input on how to improve and/or complete it. I got some awesome suggestions from a number of you, and my good buddy and recording/producing idol Scott (12parsecs) even sent me a guitar part for the choruses that sounded amazing. He meant it as just a suggestion but I thought it sounded so good that I asked him for the tracks. Along with adding his guitars I made a few other changes as per your suggestions, resang a few parts with a little more emotion, and added a mellotron to the bridge I really dig (thanks michael2).
Anyway, here's the result. This song didn't sit well with me before, but thanks to everyone that gave me input, and Scott's excellent additions, this song has become one of my own personal favorites. Crazy how that works. I really do love this place.
Lyrics I see you look my way
Your eyes are not the same
They don't smile at me the way they did when we were good

What do I have to do
To show that I need you
and are these words just wasted letters to your pretty eyes

How long can we go on
Denying what we've done
We made a life of what we had but what we had is gone

and now I want it back
and I know that you do too
So lets give this a try just one more time 'cause i love you

I've watched you fall a thousand feet
Reach out your hand and let me pull you into me
This love we had can be renewed
Just say the word and I will come back to you

Time has passed me by
Right before my eyes
I've only got one life and God i wanna live it right

So live it out with me
I know it sounds crazy
and if it is then you can help me go out of my mind

I've watched you fall a thousand feet
Reach out your hand and let me pull you into me
This love we had can be renewed
Just say the word and I will come back to you

I can hear you calling me through the clouds

Glad you didn't scrap
This song is so powerful and the message is so touching for anyone going through troubled times with the one they love. Life is definitely too short and sometimes we give up waiting to hear these words. Thanks for the download.

Outstanding
There is no reason on God's green earth that this shouldn't be a hit and sell millions (or hundreds of thousands).

This will surely be tops here at MJ.

Great PROduction, too.

Ridd -
I really don't think it gets any better than this. What a great well rounded song - everything is what and where it should be. Excellent vocal performance and lyrics. Killer track. This is an amazing place.

rsorensen said 57 days ago

thanks a lot bud. this song has definitely come a long way thanks to this place.

Moody
Brooding and Brilliant. I said it before but you really capture everything I loved coming out of Britain from 1995-2000. The melody, the progression. Even down to the tone of the distortion in the heavier part. Scotts addition sounds really good. I was looking forward to the mellotron, but must have missed it. Someone point me in the right direction?

rsorensen said 57 days ago

thanks eric. i didn't know how much i was influenced by that era until i started writing ballads like this. glad you dig. the mellotron is in the final rotation of the bridge just before the outro kicks in

when
you guys did Tambourine Orchestra I was spellbound by the chemistry you two share. This is remarkable. Huge props to you both.

rsorensen said 57 days ago

yeah that's a great tune. scott really nailed what i was trying to in the chorus with his guitars. thanks for listening

Great!
Man you have such a high quality voice, just a pleasure to listen to. I really like the bigger chorus. Great song, aren't you glad you kept it around?

rsorensen said 57 days ago

I sure am. thanks a lot for the comment. looking forward to your next one

Damn, man...
...this is great! I really like the way you pulled back a bit on the volume of the mellotron. Perfect blend there.

Congrats on a wonderful piece...

rsorensen said 57 days ago

thanks man. it was a good suggestion!

wicked! i love how it came out, and all the subtle details throughout! only one question, what happened to that misleading intro chord? i kinda liked that.

re-do redux
second times the charm. for some good reason it has a sense of smashing pumpkins ballad spark here. when they had their act together.

very pro tune dude!

Whoa
This is such a good track, and what an improvement. Its gone from great to amazing. This would be a hit if realeased to General Joe Public. Well done.
