Description While looking for inspiration to create the centerpiece of Jan Street Dance Company’s last production, I took a walk down to the Ohio river.
I actually found a rather large, flat, rock surface that let me go right out to the water without getting muddied up. Calming and emotive. The constant movement; currents and eddies that never rest. And the quiet . . . the blissful silence and peace of just the water.
I wanted to see this movement in dance.
So here it is.

Harp, Steel Guitar, Violin, Piano, marimba, and an autoharp.

This is another selection form my next album “Global”.

Picturesque
It very much rolls, like the currents of a river, ever moving forward, subtle changing, yet holds it's character.

Nice.

Hi-
Great audio picture! The everflowing currents as played by the harp are especially pleasing. I can see by your h/s tool list that you took lots of time to perfect the sounds, and that comes through in the finished product.

Peaceful
and meditative. Nice meditative texture. The section with the unnaturally high harp sounds and bells is a little harsh sounding to my ears (at 6:34). Maybe backing off the volume a little at that point would help balance the sound a bit more...perceptually, higher sounds like this carry more apparent volume than actual volume. Might also be cool to take the "cello" line that comes in there and move it 2 octaves lower into the double basses...the flowing ripples on the surface belying the deeper currents of the Ohio. Otherwise carries the feeling and impression of the moving waters nicely.

swirling
What a wonderful piece. Indeed to does remind me of the swirling eddies of the Ohio River, what a great method for inspiration for your dance piece. I would say that because the piece is quite long--due to the fact is for a dance piece---I would find a passage or two to drop out the pattering harp sound and concentrate on a pad sound or a cello or bass progression, for interest and variety sake. Just a quick thought. Nevertheless, well done.
