Keywords Mandolin (43)
Description The latest of a series of unnamed mandolin compositions exploring song construction based around the rhythm section. Didn't have any horns laying around the house at the moment of creation, so I synthesized some through Garageband to fill in some sound and build up a bit of tension - I'd definitely like to replace these synthetics with the real things once I get some friends over to the house to lay down some hornwork.
Hardware Mandolin (Gibson A-50), Volume Pedal (Morley), Ibanez Tube Screamer (TS-9), synthetics, some edited and manipulated drum tracks.
Software: Garageband

Love it

.. and great to hear another mandolin player at MJs (I just dabble btw)... I also funnily enough owned an Ibanez Tube Screamer pedal .. but I lost it .. and miss it .. :o(

The mandolin (with it's hardly any sustain to talk about), always lends itself to and generating more rhythmic patterns I find, and this is a fine example.

Pity no download :o(

Niiiiiice!
I own a Mando, but I'm not yet confident enough to employ it in my tunes. You inspire me!

Very energetic (like your first offering). This had me tapping my feet and bobbing my head (or was it the other way around? lol)

Keep em comin'!

Be well!

very nice...
Energetic rhythm, but a mellow, almost muffled sound from the Mandolin, which is a good sound, not a problem. I like it... welcome to Macjams!

Mando
Mando to the rescue. Sweet little tune and some nice Mando playing also. I plan on getting a Mando and Uke for Christmas, I hope Santa is nice this year. Thx for Sharin.

Wow
Wow, thanks for the comments, guys. Looking forward to being an active member of the community and listening to all the tunes. Any and all feedback is welcome...!

Once I get some stuff situated I'll probably open these tracks up for download (as well as type up some better descriptions), and I've got quite a bit more to put up that yall might be interested in hearing. I've been on the site for less than 24 hours, so there's quite a bit to add coming soon

peace

Brilliant!
Great soundbed you create here. The rhythm is compelling, the mandolin sounds bright, warm and happy and the whole track is just buzzing with good energy. Beautiful. If I were a producer I would add a bass, a simple song structure and have someone sing over it - you'd have a fantastic song with a totally original sound. Very impressed. The brass section sounds a tiny bit weak, possibly with a stronger attack. Details though, really like this!

Holy shiznit
Man, that jam just blew my mind a little bit. I heard so many layers of sound and groove. Karma, I'm with ya on jamming to this. I would love to lay down a grooving bass line, especially a fretless like sound (though I don't own one currently). Please let me know when this is available for DL. Would love to send you a bass track.

mandolin
This is great fun and fabulous! Great composition and performance. I LOVE the drumming - bodhran? And the mandolin playing is killer. Lots of energy and movement. I think you could have brought the brass up a little louder, but other than that no complaints here! This is awesome - thanks!

DL is up.
Hey hey guys, thanks for all the great thoughts on the sketch. Both "Inventions" up on the site are now available for download - feel free to save 'em, remix 'em, jam to 'em, tweak 'em, whatever you find interesting. If you do end up reposting a remix under your name though, it'd be nice if ya cited the original too ;)

Enjoy ladies and gents, I'm flattered you dig 'em.

nice percussion
The mando is great - seems to be a popular instrument on this site- and I also dug the rhythm. I hear a little African style there. Your name is appropriate because this song would be great as the background music to a Wildlife video. Looking for more!

Welcome to MJ
What a great debut - I really like the soundbed you created for your excellent mandolin playing. The rhythm and texture of the piece is original and invigorating - really got me going.

Having heard...
...several extrapolations of this tune, I had to search out the original...

This is really cool... I love what you're doing with the mandolin and the percussion here...

Gratefully downloaded...
