Description Feter sent me this song, a 2.43 long conversation between a man and woman in waiting. He asked me to sing the female pert and then graciously let me change nearly all its words. (I’m so picky) Then he graciously asked me to post it on my page, even though he did all the playing, half the writing and half the vocals. Thank you, Feter!

Feter: composition, most excellent guitar playing, lyrics, vocals

Roxylee: lyrics, vocals, mixing
Lyrics Good morning my dear lady
Good morning oh, what a day !
You seem pretty weary
Well, what can I say….
Hold on my sweetest love
I will, but it’s so much work
There will be a day to rest
It seems so far away….
Look babe what have we done

Its getting me to much weary
I hear what you say
Isn’t all about the faith
It’s hard to see a way
But we all hope for the freer
I know it will come
He promised us to help us
Look up and hold on
Look Babe what have we done

You took me so serious
I’m waiting to see
I told you I’ll do it
It takes more than love
I want to be an overcomer
So much to go through…
Come and give me a hope
That’s all that I can do
Look Babe what have we done

Great Conversation
Nice collaboration guys and gals. I really enjoyed the whole conversation idea. Also, great guitar playing Feter and of course nice vocal work on both of your parts. Thanks for sharing.

Just delightful
a contemporary love folk song and so well performed.... a true collab from what you say above and you've got the balance right all the way. The vocals sound better than I've heard them to date and the recording so clear, cheers M

Hi, Maurice
Hey, where did you go on holiday? What a great pix! :-) Thank you for commenting. Feter got real studio time and I was recording on cheaper stuff, did what I could with it. Thanks! :-)

Roxy, Feter You two together are so GREAT : ) :> 8 )
Wonderful relaxing song ! Hugs toYou Both !! Lena : )

Roxylee said 64 days ago
Thank you, Lena
When I first head this one, I loved it. Feter's picking and chording is wonderful here. The concept of a conversation is always fun for us to do (like Jangling Conversation) and we wanted this one to be real instead of a parody. Hopefully, we'll do more of these. Thank you, and we are happy that you liked it enough to dl! :-)

smiles
always gives me smiles to hear harmonies between New York and Syria... what a great place, gives me hope. Thank you Roxylee and Feter, this is unique, and Feter's guitar work and singing mesh very nicely with Roxylee's singing and harmonies, or is it the other way around? Doesn't matter, another sweet gentle pop-ballad.

However, I am probably almost as anxious as Roxylee for her to get a replacement audio interface so she can use her nice AKG condenser mic instead of the slightly muffled Samson USB mic.

Feter, your side is nice and clear sounding.

ttfn,
Drakonis

of mics and men
Uh, um, you must have skipped the liner notes in your packing to get away for the weekend. Thank you for taking the time to come here for a listen during all the prep. I always appreciate your detailed appraisals, my friend. I hope the mic/pre is working right. I have the pre gain turned almost all the way up and am standing 3 inches from the mic to get a decent level. I hope the mic isn't messed up- shouldn't the Perception be more sensitive than this? Any tips from anyone would be greatly appreciated. Muffle is a bad thing! Feter recorded in a studio and think he used an AKG studio mic, no idea which interface. I love doing harmony and this song was also fun, being a conversation. Yes, MacJams is such a great place for bringing the opposite sides of the world together in song! Thank you again for introducing me to this community and for always being there with your friendship and encouragement.:-)

Bright
Bright and hopeful tune.

Reminds of the flavors of innocent happy tunes sung in those 60's coffeehouses. You know, the ones with the red or blue checkered tablecloths and those well waxed over Mateus wine bottles candles a glowing.

You guys would have made for a wonderful evening.

Roxylee said 64 days ago
Ahhh... thank you for the mental picture
I had forgotten about those Mateus wine bottle candles! I can see the place you describe, and Feter is on stage, scanning the audience to call me up on stage with him, as I try to hide behind the waiter. Wait- the people in the place are all MacJammers who will join in. I'm not shy anymore! Thank you, and I am smiling that this brought enjoyment to you.

Drew Kopr said 65 days ago
Very COOL!
I love the lyrical conversation and melody...man can Roxylee sing...and the chords/song structure is solid. Very COOL!!!

Roxylee said 64 days ago
Thanks, Drew
I hope my voice holds out for years and years because I love to sing, especially harmony with others. Thank you for stopping by. The chords and structure that Feter played are great, and I keep humming this tune. I'm sure the Quiet Man thanks you, too. ;-)

Two overcomers...
in music, life, heart, and friendship.

What a treat of a song.

When do you go on tour? Can I tag along and carry the equipment?

Roxylee said 64 days ago
Tell you what, my friend
You can carry the sax, harp, clarinet, and the plethora of other instruments you can play, as long as you play them in the band. :-) Thank you for your wisdom, friendship, and listening ear.

Joe Brady said 65 days ago
Conversation....
A great idea and well done. Like a great stage song, this tune illustrates how two ways of looking at life compliment (and may ultimately depend on each other) and make up some of the parts of the thing we call love.
I love the pickin' too.

Joe

Roxylee said 64 days ago
Hi, Joe
Thank you. I love how music allows me to sing parts written about someone else, yet I can relate, having experienced many of the same things throughout my life. It's like acting, but not. It seems we are all waiting for things to change. Music helps along the way. Thank you for commenting.:-)

kristyjo said 65 days ago
Great
Sweet, folk style piece. I really love the conversational set up here. The guitar playing is also very fine. Excellent collaboration - it sounds like you're together in a home studio, able to see and hear each other as you perform. awesome.

Roxylee said 64 days ago
So glad you like this, Kristy
I tried to give it an intimate feel, even though the equipment and distance came between. We appreciate you coming over to listen .:-)

Cori Ander said 65 days ago

Congrats to both of you!

Thank you, Johannes
It still amazes me to think we can collab with people all over the world. I was listening to "Oceans" the other day. I'm grateful to the wonderful artists here, and thank you for listening to these collabs and for your input.

Roxylee said 64 days ago
Thank you, bud
Always nice to hear from you. We appreciate your listening.:-)

elfdaughter said 64 days ago
Beautiful...
Amazing work, you two! Your voices complement each other so well. Even though there's a noticeable difference in the recording values (sorry, Roxy, but your mic isn't as powerful as Feter's it seems), it adds to the piece, rather than detracts - to me it seems that because of that, although its a conversation between a man and a woman, the woman seems to have gone away, and it's more of an internal conversation, or the man conversing with the memory of the woman....anyway, it's a definite one to add to my faves list.

Roxylee said 64 days ago
Wow, great insight!
Thank you so much for your observation. Yes, one side sounds clear and strong, the other a bit muted and distanced... I'm glad that you see this as a strength to the song, rather than a drawback. I pour through the audio catalogs, drooling at the superior equipment I can't buy. If anyone in here wants to give me pointers on how to get a better sound out of my cheesy setup, please email me!!

pablatone said 64 days ago

You guys sound great together. That's a pretty cool idea singing as a conversation. I like it.

60's folk lives on!
Thank you for letting us know that this lifted your spirits. This is what making music is all about for me, boosting up the hope robbed by living in this chaotic world. Than you for listening and for letting us know this touched you. I'm a folkie forever. <G>

This has
a great parlour folk simplicity that sounds so much easier to do than it is. Great vocal dialogue.

Roxylee said 63 days ago
Thank you for noticing that
it sounds easier than it was to do. It took more than a few tries for me to be satisfied with the timing in how I answered Feter's lines. Thank you for stopping by! :-)

Very nice Feter, Most excellent indeed. I like the trade off between the vocals and fine lyrics at that. Great collaboration all around.

Roxylee said 62 days ago
Thank you, John
I love Feter's chording and playing in this, too. We are glad you came by. I am so far behind in listening to songs, but will catch up soon!

This is...
...a perfect number for the stage...somewhere in the middle of the first act after the relationship has been initiated...Great guitar work, Feter, and the combo of your two voices is just oh so pleasant. Very very nice. I particularly like the unencumbered rendition with just guitar and 2 voices. It needs absolutely nothing else. What a nice surprise to download this for many many listens. Thank you.
Peace.
Paul

Roxylee said 62 days ago
Hmmm... ideas...
Feter, did you see this? We might make a whole story out of this! Thank you, Paul, and I keep listening to it, too and I agree; the guitar is just right and needs nothing else. I appreciate your comments- thank you. :-)

Alannah said 63 days ago
Isn't it great ....
... that there are "no borders" at Macjams .... and two people from complete polar opposites of the world can sing together as one ..... I liked the "folkiness" of this tune and it brought me back to times when I am in a room with some musicians and they are jammin ... and the fun is happening ... and people are singing together ... and everyone is just having a good time ! .... very very nice collab you two !

Roxylee said 62 days ago
Hi, Alannah
Thanks for stopping by! :-) Yes, being able to collab from across the globe is fantastic! Last night I was listening to us all singing in Jack's masterpiece collab and was thinking how special it is to be able to do this. I'm glad this song brought back good jammin living room memories for you.

Rocha Malhada said 62 days ago
reciprocative conversation
The guitar parts, the vocals & lyrics... What a fine exchange. Feter, you are really developing a wonderful singing style - always great on the guitars. Played in counter with Roxy's wonderful talent, and - 'Kaching!' you have together delivered yet another winner.

. - Harold

Roxylee said 62 days ago
Thank you, Harold
I'm excited that Feter has been getting to the studio to do his recordings. I'd love to be able to get mine as clean and crisp as his. Someday... Anyway, thank you for listening and appreciating our efforts. :-)

cool
Went for a looong walk this weekend up a mountain in Wales and at the top, as i stood there with the rain and wind driving into my freezing face, this song kept playing in my head.
It's very catchy and stayed with me very clearly after one listen.... I've given it a few more now and it's really great.
This is a cool tune

Roxylee said 58 days ago
Wow, Ted
Thank you for sharing this. It's always humbling and amazing that people all over the world could be humming our tunes. This tune caught me right away, too. I love the chords and structure that Feter created. Thank you for listening and commenting. -)

The words are nice to hear, with all the turmoil going around us it is nice to hear good fresh dialog between opposite sex.

Thanks for posting.

Roxylee said 33 days ago
Hi, Bill!
Thank you for listening to this collab. It's half hopeful, half tentative, and like a conversation, has give and take. Props to Feter for the song and for letting me change the words to my part. :-)

YO
not within my normal boundaries of listening, but i actually really enjoyed this. I liked the guitar and the mix was nice and clean. I loved how the vocals went back and forth, and it was written well. There is a noticeable difference with the mics, feters sounding more clear picking up every characteristic of his voice, but yours feels a little distant and heavy on echo or reverb? or maybe pushing out some low end? not exactly sure technically what it is, but in any case it still sounds great. It doesnt take away from anything, just mildy takes away from that intimate feeling..but what can you expect your thousands of miles away and using different equip! So with all things considering this was GREAT! good stuff roxy and feter!

Roxylee said 19 days ago
Thank you!
It's so cool that you listened to this, even though it's not your usual genre of enjoyment. i really appreciate your feedback. Feter recorded this in a real studio, and I have an inexpensive mic and know next to nothing about EQ. I'd love to have my vocal tracks EQ'd by someone who knows what they're doing, or have someone show me how to make it better using just GarageBand. I don't even remember what I did to this- maybe it would have been better dry? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I'm glad you liked the lyrics- we each basically wrote our own parts and it was fun to sing in the conversation style. We thank you for stopping by. :-)

sschedra said 1 hour ago
More!
I just think its great that Feter can get studio time and we get to hear more of him. You guys are the folksiest team on the Web. The sweet honesty of Rox's voice contrasting against that earthy smooth baritone of Feter just make this another treat. This tune is also meaningful to me as my daughter just gave birth to another promise in Dec.

Thanks guys,
Stephen
