Description For some reason, the harsh synth sounds at the beginning of this put me in mind of our own Five Extra Arms, so the project file has been named in his honor ever since.
I'm posting this under open collabs in case anyone would like to add something black, scratchy or otherwise.

You should get Bob to add his unique vocal style to this number.

That's
an excellent idea; I will write to him immediately about it!

Thanks very much for stopping by; I've owed you a visit for a while.

i
think i may have to have a go at this one. downloading and putting in the "get to this" folder. really beautiful, love all of the sounds and the spoken word parts fit beautifully. kind of reminds me of Air. really beautiful piece sonnyjim.

Well
That's a lovely thing to say, Michael, and I appreciate it. If you'd like the Logic file, drop me a line; I will happily pass it along.

PS. As you can probably hear, Automat is working again on my laptop (go figure). Thought you'd like to know.

Back!
Yo! The Jim is in da house. Glad to have you back my friend. You nailed it with the 5ExtraArms sonic comparison. Can't wait to see what others do to it. Dark and plodding, with a maniacal twist as always. The piano work is the icing on the cake in this little beauty. Curious what the german dude is on about... something decidedly existential undoubtedly. Cool.

In the house
I'm not really 'in the house', but I thought it'd be a good idea to post something. I had this kicking around for a long time, so I imposed a one-day deadline to wrap it up and post it. Not a bad solution, really; I suspect I do my most iteresting stuff when I'm pressed for time.
As for the German guy, maybe I should post a translation as lyrics.....

Drums
Hi..I put some dragged out drums to this..I wanted to email you to let you know I was posting it..It said it would take 2-3 days to post so I thought I would have time to tell you..It took hardly anytime at all to appear plus you have your email disabled..So in a round about way here is the email..LOL..JONK

Strange, but very cool Jim
I'm not sure what to think of this. But I do find I like the overall feel of it. The German (I think) spoken word caught me off guard, but that to was a pleasant surprise.

Very cool bit of work n=here Jim, I like it.

Be well and be cool,

Ed

Strange
That's a good comment, Ed. My own musical tates run to things I don't know what to make of on first listening: if I like something a lot the first time I hear it, I know I will hate it very soon. If I don't like something and I know why I don't like it, I will never like it. But if I don't really like it, and I DON'T know why, then that's a very good sign....!

My idiosyncrasies aside, thanks very much for listening and commenting; I will return the favor very soon.

Hey Kenta
I've never had one of my songs given the "Skean Treatment"; I'm honored that you'd even think of such a thing! Even if you don't do anything with it, I'm very glad you stopped by.

Best,

SJ

Glad to meet you in the forum
and get driven to this excellent piece of music. Interestingly enough - it has something in common with gamelan music and what we were discussing. I really like what you've done here - the space, rhythms and timbres all work well together - and in unexpected ways. I missed this when I was in Texas. Cool post.

There are some very interesting things going on in that picture to go along with the music you've pulled from your home in the fourth dimension.
I really like that transition that starts to take place at about the 1:50 mark.
