Description I found this piece of Celtic tinged blues on my iPod a couple of days ago. It's actually the fiddle track for a recording of the song Wild Wood by Paul Weller which I did 18 months ago for a band I was asked to play with so that they could use it to get gigs. For reasons I don't know the project fizzled out and we only did one gig (at the singer's birthday party!) Listening to it on my iPod I realised that it could work as a solo track and so I stitched the various bits together to give you... Blue Wood!

Oh!!! :)
A beautiful peice! Your an amazing fiddle player!!!!

musichead said 68 days ago
kinda bluesy
It had a touch of blues. At least thats what I thought. It does stand alone as a great little solo. You can see so much with this. In that I mean. It could be used for a lot of different ideas!!

Great soulful playing!
Almost makes me regret that I din't start playing when I had the chance in my early teens. Only I guess it takes a while to be this good - and a lot of horror to go through on the way ;-)

Thanks for sharing!

The love of fiddle...
This instrument, when played solo and with passion like this, seems to tickle ancient human memories... gorgeous work, Martyn. Sends (the good kind of) chills down my spine.

Back when I worked in a music store...
...one of my great pleasures was hearing musicians listening, thinking, feeling and playing their way into a tune...This has something of that quality, and I absolutely love it...

Man
you sure seem to be able to nail that bluesy, tumbleweed out in the desert sound. Amazing! Love the tone you get. To me it sure seems like you have to be playing a lot of years to get this type of sound!

Really great sounds it that special KK style.

A really pleasure to here this. Right in the there with tbe best iv'e head here at MJ.

An interesting diversion
from all the rock stuff on here.

Nicely played. Now it needs a backing!

Cheers

If...
...you can make a backing work with this, you're welcome to try!

Unfortunate about the band not working out, but I'm glad you did something with the pieces. This is warm and beautiful. You have such assured tone, and I've been working with software instruments for awhile, so it's even more appreciated that you have the talent to play the violin so well, and with so much soul.

Sets one soul afire. I was so happy to land on this one. Sounds like it's from your gut. All I can say is ..... whoah!

Nice recording...
...I love the sound of the bow against the string...that breathy, smooth yet grainy at the same time sound. The rush of air pushing then carrying the note...

Really nice, kk...thanks

Back porch music
I love sitting on my back porch with an instrument, just playing away, for myself and for whoever wants to hear it. This track has that careless atmosphere of just letting the notes flow. NIce.
