Description Introducing, for your listening pleasure macjammers, a new eclectic MickTrick track! Mark (MickD) released this as just a backing track a couple of weeks ago on iComps. Luckily for me, he was looking for vocal ideas and we worked together well on the "Lies Lies" track.

My beloved sister-in-law passed away earlier this year after losing a battle with cancer. After she died, I found a random message of hers that had got lost in my digital voicemail. I started to imagine different scenarios behind her message - and pondered the fact that people always think they have time. Here the woman calls and the guy neglects to call back. When she is gone, he realizes that the phone will never ring again to present her voice. In the song, the Drama unfolds with a kind of Greek chorus in the background - which is always the case with hindsight.

Music and production- Mark Deskin (AKA MickD)
Lyrics and Vocals - Daniel Staniforth (AKA Luna Trick)
Voice Mail - Barbie Flowers (1957-2008)
Lyrics NEXT TIME

"Wish I could keep me life straight"
"gotta down-town brain"
"you think you got it hard mate"
"try jumpin' this train"
"Catch you on the next one"
"Another time, Another time, Another time, Another time"

Past-time
Fast time
New time
Rue time

In the garden beneath the shadows
There's a reason for her sorrows

In the garden beneath the shadows
There's a reason for her sorrows

"If only you'd call me again, love"
"I got these vacuum dreams"
"G'is a push and shove love"
"Me memory screams"
"Catch you on the next one"
"Another time, Another time, Another time, Another time"

Past-time
Fast time
New time
Rue time

In the Corner where the light fails
There's a mourner telling tall tales

"I'm waiting by the phone, dear"
"It's hard beggin' for the ringer"
"I'd kill for you to be near"
"But you won't lift a finger"
"Catch you on the next one"
"Another time, Another time, Another time, Another time"

Past-time
Past time

I Wrestle with my loneliness
It's harsh, this untimeliness
I'd sell all my selfishness
For a lock of your luciousness

Down-time
Frown time
Time and time again
Nothing but time

Down-time
Frown time
Time and time again
Nothing but time

"I've got this bloody powerful feeling"
"I think they call it regret"
"But there's learnin' in the yearnin'"
"And I'll find the answer yet"
"Catch you on the next one"
"I'll find the time, I'll find the time,
I'll find the time,I'll find the time"

Trip hop
Reminds a bit of early Tricky..but with a sort of upbeat groove.
Great lyrics and changes in the textures.
Like it

I love the early tricky "christian sands" era - so I'll take that as a compliment!

That was what I was thinking.
Christian sands is a great track so it's definitely a compliment

Great idea, well implemented
Of course, reading the description adds more searing depth to this piece. I did find that the words "In the garden, beneath..." were a little soft and muffled, hard to understand. But the rest of it was crystal clear and well mixed. Liked the transitions and work you put into it. Did YOU sing the high-pitched amazing harmonies in this too? That was a treat... Mark really weaves a great bunch of music here too. Very powerful work. So good to know your sister lives on.

Drakonis

You have perhaps found the weak spot... and perhaps we'll remix it at some point. Mark does brilliant work and I like working with him!

Vic Holman said 68 days ago

I'm glad to know that your sister is still deep in your thoughts.

LunaTrick said 45 days ago

I've been enjoying your latest tunes... so having your ear means a lot to me.

And yes, she's never too far away... and finds a place in the music!

So .....
.. that British Accent works well on this tune ..... (I also like the bits of female vox embedded here) .... took me back to the glorious 80`s when I lived in Britain ... and danced at the hippodrome ! Ah good times .... nicely done you two !

LunaTrick said 45 days ago
Somehow...
I can see you dancing the hippodrome Alannah. Thanks for your enthusiasm as usual!

Pretty Hot! A bit of a "Bowie" sound mixed with the sound of the old band "Madness." Loved it!
