Description This is a song dedicated to the love of my life as she inspired it. Her Birthday was yesterday so.... Happy Birthday Sunshine. You truly are my muse. (Corny huh?) lol

This is the first of my new catalogue, although "Sunshine Angel" http://www.macjams.com/song/43350 is new as well, it hasn't had a full production as of yet.

Little things was written this spring while I was walking dogs, with time alone to write it in my head. I suggest this method as a great way to memorize lyrics lol.
Lyrics Little Things copyright 2008 Guy Groves

I like the way you tip your head
Right before you start to laugh
and how you always hold your own
whenever I'm talkin trash
Chorus
Those little things that you do
Made me fall in love with you
Those little things that you do
Keep me in love with you

I love how you like to tease me
whenever I'm in a mood
and I know it's all designed
to adjust my attitude
Chorus
Bridge
I remember when I first met you
You wanted nothin to do with me
I was dumb enough to try and charm you
and way to blind to see
a spirit such as yours
is perfect in every way
and my love for you it still grows
stronger every day

I love how you bat your eyes
whenever you want your way
and how you hate long goodbyes
cause you never know what to say
Chorus

this is such a nice gesture, really. and a good song as well. nice ambling guitar and the acoustic is really nice and clear. mine always ends up sounding muddy, is that a built in pickup? great job.

guygrooves said 91 days ago
Thanks Michael
I took some advice from rsorensen on recording my acoustic. I have a fishman built in pick up with an eq and brilliance slider, with the notch technology for feedback and a phase switch. I recorded with a DI as well as a large diaphragm con mic and mixed it to my ear. I had to fiddle with the switches and eq on the guitar but each time I try it gets better and better. Thanks for the visit and kind words.

Nice
This is your most well-produced song so far, everything fits where it should in the mix. The lead guitar fits well and does not overpower the song. Good stuff.

guygrooves said 91 days ago
Thanks Brian
I am very happy you like it. I also am thrilled you went to the trouble of making those steel guitar riff's for The One. I will be working with them tomorrow. Thanks again for the visit, listen and kind words.

I must say Guy...
...this is fine progression from some of your earlier posts. As others have said, the guitar sound is good, but the real improvement is in the quality of your voice - very rich and smooth - very, very good indeed. I'm impressed.

If there's space for a minor bit of constructive criticism then I would say that around the start of the bridge you seem to trip over the words a bit (trying to fit 'em into too small a gap). Other than that this is really good - sounds like a genuine Alt country classic to me -

Cheers,
Phil

guygrooves said 91 days ago
Hey Phil
Great to hear from you. Thanks for the listen and kind words. You are right about the start of the bridge I had trouble phrasing it to fit and decided at one point it was close enough. I guess it wasn't lol. Great set of critical ears on you. Thanks again and, yes there is always room for criticism ;)
Peace

very nice...
Loose and slightly jangly...The music has a really relaxed feel that provides just the right sound bed for those sweet lyrics and your heart-felt vocal delivery.

The production is outstanding.

I thoroughly enjoyed this one Guy.

Be well my friend!

Wowwwww Guy
This is a great song man. The feelings are in the words and in your voice. This one ought to be the one that'll save your hide when you've really screwed up.

How could she not know how much she is loved after listening to this, It's the best love song I've heard in years, and needs to be on the Radio.

Most excellent in all ways my friend. Great song, great playing, and great mixing. It's got it all.

Bravo Guy,

Ed

Good one Guy!
Sounds really good - especially the acoustic. Easily your best production so far. LP sure makes a good result doesn't it. Lovely vocals and I'm sure your special friend just loves the lyrics.

Really well sung. Great backing and arrangement. I was a little uncomfortable with the chorus ending as I felt one could go up and add strength to 'Keep me in love with you' which is a very positive statement.
All in all, though, thoroughly enjoyable.

guygrooves said 85 days ago
Thanks Richard
I hadn't thought of that, and now that I have it totally makes sense. Thanks for the listen and the great advice. I hope all is well with you and yours.

Lucky
You have a lucky wife to get such a great song for her birthday. The lyrics are sincere and sweet. You have such a smooth voice, and it's well-recorded. The guitars are nestled right up there under the vocals, but they never overwhelm. This is a fine countryish rock (or rockish country) song.

guygrooves said 85 days ago
Nice to meet you
Kristyjo I can't tell if it's country rockish or rockish country either lol. Thank you for the kind words and the listen.

Sensational
I just joined today and if this is any reflection on the wealth of inspiration that this site has to offer than I am truly blessed. I just wanted to let you know that this effort is fantastic. I know what it is to be in love and this song is exactly what I wanted to say to my soulmate. Great job Guy and I will be eagerly waiting for the encore. Thank you for sharing this piece with us mere mortals. Cheers, Gary.

very nice
I also have to comment about the quality and depth of your voice. Nice job. Singing is something that seems to get better the more you "believe", and it's obvious you have crossed the line between timid beginner and confident pro. I don't know if you ever listened to "Big Head Todd" but your voice is in the same notch, right out of the Midnight Radio/Sister Sweetly albums. The guitar has a nice melodic and moving front lick and the whole song is powered by the inexorable but catchy slow motion in the back end. I too have experimented with dry/direct and live/mic mixing with good success. In the end I'd rather catch it live if the equipment and set up is good enough. But the dry/direct signal can often make a big difference if something else is out of line. Final word: Nice job! Thanks!

well crafted song, nice and happy something i just can't do. Your voice is exceptional and the way you put across your words makes for a great listen.

all 'round
good work - I like everything about it. Vocals nice and clear. Often on some posts I have trouble undestanding the words so this is a pleasant change. Somehow the vocal has really good separation from the instruments but at the same time not seeming isolated and still part of it.

Good song, good production and good performance.
