Description A folky/bluegrass duet.

Roxylee-lyrics & melody
Feter- acoustic guitar w pickup and Mr. Bright, aka mando

dedicated to G&L
Lyrics Last night I dreamed
we walked hand in hand through the meadow
No care in the world
the sun and breeze in our hair
I drifted to waking
and oh, so strong was my longing
that I went there without you
imagining that you were there

Time's just something here on Earth
and has no bearing on love's worth

Counting the days
until I can stand there beside you
A new life
Leaving past all behind
Daring to dream the impossible
until it becomes real
A love so strong,
Beauty is what we will find

Time's just something here on Earth
And has no bearing on love's worth

Distance means nothing
Our love is blooming like the meadow
I have found you
and nothing can keep us apart
Soon we will stand there together
and nothing will part us
My only one, my sweet, love of my heart

Meadow Song
This was a wonderful experience to me and to work
with Roxy's classical folkie tune is all about it
a dream come true ..what an honor what a pleasure !!
sitting in the studio singing and pickin ...the
procedures to let any song like this one is just
so excitement ..and fruitful ...thank you dear for
the magic as always ...!!!!!

Roxylee said 97 days ago
Thank you, my friend
It's always a pleasure to sing alongside you and Mr. Bright. :-) Your pickin is most excellent!:-)

Really, really nice collab you two. Perhaps your best yet. Both voices in top form. beautiful clear and crisp soundbed. BRAVO!

Be well!

love the voices and music
Wonderful collab, again, you two... Feter, your music is always so nice, and Mr. Bright is bright tonight... and Roxylee, your words, singing, harmonies, always fit so perfectly. Nice mixing too... and even Roxylee's old USB mic doesn't sound too bad (we gotta get your Saffire/Firewire problem fixed... what's it been, 8 months now of tech-support nightmares?) Anyway, you are a couple of very talented and warm-hearted folks! Kudos!
ttfn,
Drakonis

Roxylee said 97 days ago
Tech support? I need sanity
Ok, this song is a miracle, because I was getting so unmotivated. In the past 8 months, 3 new audio interfaces fried, also frying all FW ports as I kept trying it (duh), which fried my iSight cam as soon as it was plugged in. So I bought a new card-the the latest exchange interface fred its ports. Returned the interface, got a new one, which lasted all of 20 minutes. My XLR mic sits in the box, waiting patiently.

Did I mention the latest interface was on a totally different computer? Oh, it gets better. The computer AND Apple display stopped working the same week as the lated interface. I was about ready to give up recording, but dear Feter McPusher (he made that name up) ;-) kept asking me to just sit and play the guitar. So I did, and this melody was born.

Feter took the one rough guitar track I had sent him as a demo ,and went into studio. There he developed it into a beautiful arrangement, added the bridge, and sang his parts. I added mine, mixed it, and my hope in doing music was restored. (even though I'm now recording in the dining room, on the kid's computer, near the noisy refrigerator, with a USB mic with a cheapo software pre, etc etc.)

They're sending one more, then giving me my money back if the next one fizzles out. If anyone knows why this coulds be happening, please enlighten me!

I said all that to say this. Thank you for introducing me to Garageband and MacJams, for being such a great friend to all, and for your encouragement as I muddle through the weird audio problems. I am really glad you liked the song, too. :-)

what a sweet song
So simple, yet very heartfelt and warm, just like a love song should be. Both of you sang wonderfully and did a great job performing throughout. Love the lyrics and harmonies of the two of you together and also Roxy doubled, very nice! Started my morning off on the right foot...thanks for sharing this!

Distance Means Nothing
You said a mouthful! Both of you astonish me. This song is magical. The rich guitar sounds (authentic as Lava said) and your fantastic vocal harmonies defy the reality that you are not in the same room!

Distance means nothing! Thanks for sharing this dreamy tune.

Bob

Roxylee said 97 days ago
Ahhh... thank you, Bob
I tried to mix it as if we were together, and so glad it worked. I'm always amazed at the fact that we can sing together, yet be across the world from each other. I just love being able to sing with musicians of such calibre.

A lovely song. Your duets are a real joy on this site.
Both voices and the instruments hang together so well and come out the speakers wrap the listener in a big warm blanket!
Best wishes

This made me smile, imagining this song wrapping you in a warm blanket. Thank you for listening and for such a nice comment. :-)

So Sweet -
This is very nice - and reading through the comments, and knowing that it made it through some difficult bits makes it all the sweeter. It's a lovely picture of patient, unfettered love.

(Roxy - I have a friend who seems to have the same kinds of problems with printers at work as you do with audio interfaces. I can even watch her use them - she appears to be doing everything right, but it's like they turn on her - very spooky!)

Roxylee said 97 days ago
Yes!
It's like something doesn't want me to record, but the music can't stop. It is stronger than machines. Thank you, KristyJo. Your comments mean a lot to me and to Feter.

Doadars Uncle said 97 days ago
Warm
Such a delicate blend. It has a really spacious, open air feeling.

I like the lines that time is greater than our existence. So many nice symbols!

Roxylee said 97 days ago
Thanks, Doug
I'mso glad this mix was good. It took me a long time, as I'm learning by trial and error. I sent poor Feter a lot of takes, asking him which one sounded the best. Yeh, time's just something here on Earth. We let it get to us all the time, though. Thank you for coming by to hear this little love song.

thetiler said 97 days ago
Enjoyed this
alot, I get the feeling that this is what folk music was met to be.
It's like in the earlier version of country music when things were less glamorized and radio was more innocent.

IT would be great to have music like this on major country music radio. Words that have such heart felt meaning. Enjoy the singing, Roxy and you do a fine job keeping this standard feeling folk song original and country fresh. Glad to see that you two are on the road to keep country music the way it was originally. Or at least your music together has a feeling of early Johnny Cash and June Carter and others like them.

Thanks for sharing !

Roxylee said 97 days ago
Well, this makes my day, Bill
to liken us to Johnny and June. I think when doing songs 3 minutes in length, one has to keep it simple and write succinct lyrics. Feter and I enjoy creating short story songs, and we thank you for appreciating the style. Feter's picking is wonderful, and we are both folkies at heart. Harmonizing with him is always special for me.

DeathArrow said 97 days ago
that's cool!
omg i love this
but honestly this is definitily not my style
but i really like this i fell in love with your voices they harmonize so beautiful together!!
and i really dig the guitars, cool played!!!
keep it up!!

Roxylee said 97 days ago
This is great :-)
to listen to music outside your usual genres- I've learned so much here, after expanding my musical tastes. If you liked the harmony, check out Feter's page- there are many more there, and some are on my page, too. Thank you for stopping by. :-)

Such a...
...sweet little song. I think you two have really hit your stride with this one. Feter's voice is perfectly balanced on this number with your's, Roxy. Just a delightful listen that is unencumbered by over production. Straight from the heart.
Peace.

Roxylee said 96 days ago
We thank you, Paul
I am so glad you enjoyed this little song. Feter's mando is just wonderful and it's so much fun to sing with someone on the other side of the world and make it feel that we are in the same room. Garageband is cool.

Miracle song
I was reading your RE to Drak above - A neat story; as frustrating as events have been, you've managed to make it a complimentary anecdote of praise. Well, I suppose that's just the heart and soul you have.

I enjoyed your song with Feter, thanks to you both.

FETER asked me if I'd like to add something to this
I love this song and would be flattered to add something (hopefuly usefull) to this great song. It would be a challange to me because most of my music is rough and hard I as yet haven't mastered the beautiful side of music. I guess that is the beauty of MACJAMS. It gives one the opportunity to stretch ones musical wings and fly to places one wouldn't normarl go.

AGAIN A BEAUTIFUL SONG

Roxylee said 94 days ago
Sure, Florry
I'd like to hear your addition to this love song. Work with it and email it to Feter and we'll take it from there. Thank you and I'm glad you are enjoying these collabs. :-)

Awesome! I finally get to hear Feter's voice without an excess of melancholy reverb. You and Roxy have perfectly matched soundspaces in your tracks. I am very excited to hear this production. It is bright, hopeful, alive and immediate. Happiness calling!

Roxylee said 94 days ago
All smiles here, Rich
When a production expert says it's matched, I am really happy. I'm slowly learning how to do this stuff, and with my limited resources, it takes a lot of tweaking. Thank you so much for letting me know it sounds good. :-)
