Description
It gets complicated from here on ......
Do you remember the thing about the boxes and "what you pack" Mr. Grand ? John Grand take a look at the rest of your world here. The "guide" for this part of the journey is someone John Grand thinks of as "Mr. Grey"..... a silent and colorless character who John Grand can "hear" in his head. Mr. Grey takes John to a sea .... of sorts. Viewed from a distance it is a shimmering mass of color but upon closer inspection these colors are moving, living things. John Grand welcome to your Sea of Memories and Regrets. Where were your memories filed at the end of the day Mr. Grand? Successful Completions or Will Do Better The Next Time ? Do your Regrets out weigh your Memories ... or are the same? It's all there Mr. Grand .... to be relived over and over. Do you hear your wife Mr. Grand? Do you ......
Performance Note
"Memory" original song written and performed by Mark Holbrook
"Why" original song written and performed by Gail60
"Across the Barrens" [Under Temptation] written and performed by Paul F. Page
The journey continues across a barren desert of wind and white noise ... There are others in the distance walking in the same direction "There is another option Mt. Grand"
Lyrics
"Memory"
[M. Holbrook]
Have you ever had a memory
So good that it hurts
And every time you tried to dry your eyes
You rubbed in more dirt
And those things you wanted to do
That will never be done
While at the time
They seemed like so much fun
And every little tiny thing you do
Brings this memory back to you
And you try so hard to forget
But it's very hard to do
And those things you wanted to do
That will never be done
While at the time
They seemed like so much fun
Why
[Gail60]
Why did you go
Where have you gone
When will you come back to me ?
So many sad regrets
That you cannot repair
The times we needed you
You were never there
So full of pain and sadness
Who will explain this madness
What can I do
What can I say
How can I make it through another day
Why did you leave me here ?

Finally it hits you
Hell is having to remember ll the things you should have done, but didn't.
Two very thought provoking songs here, very well done by Mark and Gail, thank you.
Mr. Grey is scary, although I'm not sure he is supposed to be. The trip too, is scary, because of the unknown factor.
What will happen, When will it happen. Is the good or evil at the end of this journey?
Excellent

Memories...
Mr. Grand realizes too late that he loved money much more than people, like his wife. Now he has to hear her crying throughout eternity. Great song and performance, Gail. You express the emotions very well. Next, the demon voice is chilling against the beautiful composition by Paul.

OOPS..
wrote the above comment before I realised what was coming after the two songs.
Great composition and orchestration. Production is absolutely top notch. I feel like I am in the cinema.

Very cool
Great songs and great performances from Mark and Gail. The story becomes darker and more involved. A wonderful sense of emotion and real tragedy coursing through this. Truly terrific stuff. The voice effect is truly spine-chilling, and the music a wonderful counterpart. Nicely done, folks. Peace.

So moving.
Mark's song and Gail"s song play up the regret and loss.
Reminds me of a recorded version of C.S. Lewis'story about the afterlife, when the newly dead souls come to learn more lessons. Until they can let go of their Earthly life, they must stay in a dark city. The enlightened ones move up. Cool!

I like ....
.. the soft heartfelt feeling in Mark's voice here ..... ah yes ... if we could all have a "do over" ... sigh .... Gail's voice on this is just STELLAR ... is there a bigger word??? I will use it ..... this is the voice that I WANT to have come out of my own mouth .... sigh .... I am now haunted to reproduce this sound myself .... now I know that devils are evil .. but this one is kinda sexy .... and mesmerizing .... almost ready to sell my soul .... (for Gail's voice maybe) .... this is truly the most haunting part of the tale for me ... and this track in particular will stick in my mind .... and p.s. Paul is a genius ... his music throughout has been superb!

track12 "... more Dante
Right then .... For such a necessary piece of the story, this track has roots in "other " places than Mr. Big. "Memory", the opening track is written [and the core track is his performance] from a original tune by Mark Holbrook and is posted on his site. When Mark first posted this tune it was in my head and itunes shuffle for days. There were some additions and the choir voices but it is still his wonderful track. Gail60's "Why", [an original tune written by her ... as well as performed entirely by her] companions in perfectly with the opening track to paint the picture we needed to convey. "Under Temptation" is also a original work contributed to this project. I sent Paul the track for "Inferno" and ask him to some how mimic but "Create something entirely different as well." LOL ... in a week Paul had completed this great piece and it does dove tail nicely with the final track and still remains very much it's own.
A note: Slightly chagrined as to what makes this place necessarily "Hell". Dante and Inferno references in song tracks are entirely from the mind of the main character. I never really imagined the character in any more of a "hell" than his heaven was. But ... I could be wrong.
What I do know is this track made me re write a major part of the original script and is an example of how much this project really does belong to each artist that shared their magic.

What they said....
Loved the lyrics and alluring melody to "Memory." "Why" also blew me away. Beautifully written! Gail, I could listen to your voice all day. Paul, you're "such a busy, busy man. Yes, you am!" Great music throughout. "There are other options Mr. Grand?" Better check this guy's credentials Mr. Grand. Sure looks like the point of no return to me. Great text Jack! This CD will be kept on my bookshelf between MacBeth and Midsummer Night's Dream." I'm cranking out several of these. My friends around OKC are loving it!
