Keywords Get Away With Murder Eyes (1)Ruby (2)LIOLI (47)
Description You guys underestimated Dr. Lioli's MacJams-Eradication machine! I finally convinced him that this rock'n'roll dad was completely harmless and that my plastic microphone was of no use to him. Well, he might look smart, but boy was he stupid to let me go.

I wrote this lyric early this month, thinking I'd make it my B Side to Rock'n'Roll Dad. I was so hot for the Walking Clav loop that I was able to create the foundation for the song in about 2 hours on Thursday night (not my scheduled music night). I was very excited about it. The only problem was that my plastic mic set up at home didn't have the guts to make the vocals work. I had to wait until tonight at 7PM to sing and, well, I'm just lucky to have survived the things that I endured at the hand of the evil Dr Loioli and I'm glad I have short term memory.

If that's not a good enough excuse, just look at the photo of my inspiration on this song. My 4 year old Ruby has Get Away With Murder Eyes. Judge for yourself.

I haven't had the time to listen to any songs yet, but I've begun downloading them all. This turned into my attempt at a Love and Rockets or a Jesus and Mary Chain vocal approach. I should've asked Michael2 to do it Thursday night! Sorry for the late entry. I think it's a pretty good loop and therefore, a pretty good song.

is,
Lyrics AND EVERYDAY
BEFORE SUNRISE
I FEEL HER THERE
SHE SLEEPS LENGTHWISE
NOT JUST A GIRL
WITH DARK BROWN EYES
THEY’RE GET AWAY WITH MURDER EYES

THE THINGS SHE DOES
BEFORE MY EYES
MESS UP MY HAIR
UN-TIES MY TIES
THIS TINY GIRL
JUST HALF MY SIZE
HAS GET AWAY WITH MURDER EYES

THE QUESTIONS ASKED
THE “HOW’S” AND “WHY’S”?
NO REASONING
CAN THEORIZE
A TINY THING
JUST HALF MY SIZE
WITH GET AWAY WITH MURDER EYES

YOU KNOCK ME DOWN
WITH YOUR FLY-BYS
I’M POWERLESS TO CRITICIZE
SO DEVIOUS
YOU TERRORIZE
WITH GET AWAY WITH MURDER EYES

GET AWAY WITH MURDER EYES
GET AWAY WITH MURDER EYES
GET AWAY WITH MURDER EYES
GET AWAY WITH MURDER EYES

this is wicked cool Bob.

You know your daughter so well. And I imagine she has daddy wrapped around her finger.

excellent work in all departments on this. a really cool tune!

Cool...
...electropop. Love the "get away with murder eyes" hook - very neat idea. Excellent mix as well, love the old skool drum sounds and the throbbing synths. Great submission -

Nice B-side to rock'n'roll dad, indeed. it has your signature sound and style but is really communicative. One of your best. I'll Dl this as soon as I'm Home.

A Knockout
...B side? This would be one of my fav 'album cuts' that I'd hear on some wee-hours radio show that plays stuff nobody else does - around three in the morning when I'm running on too much coffee, not enough sleep and the creativity burners are on max.

I just love the squirrelly throb of the loop here, like some deranged cartoon character keyboard... think 'The Impossibles' discover magic mushrooms. Vocals REALLY put me in a B-52's state of mind.

Always room for one more entry, and particularly a killer shot like this.

Killer genre, by the way!

how?
can anyone not fall to pieces with those eyes like that? Ruby won my heart....

Oh, yeah your song..., hehe... All of my children have been such a blessing to me, and have taught me so much. I'm a lucky man to have them.

Oh yeah your song.... Ruby is just a darling, I'm sure I think I can tell, you are proud... Hey, you can't say I digress!

I wonder
if Get Away With Murder Eyes is a condition that all girls born around 2004 have. I know mine does.

I really liked how you tweaked the loop. You can tell it's there, but you made it your own. That's when I'm most impressed with this challenge - when the loop is recognizable, but you've made it in to a real song. a real GOOD song. Great job!

Great use of the loops.
Along with Buds submission this is one of my favorites.
There used to be a musician called Fad Gadget that this reminds me of a bit.
Great 'bite' and groove to this.
Like it a lot

Great turn of phrase for summing up that "Daddy's little girl" syndrome!

Love the riffage on this and the way it builds. Pretty intense!

GREAT break!
the break is SUPER cool. this is a def DL dude. You are truly and epically an 80's guy. Vox are Love and Rockets but danceable way beyond L&R. Pic of the kid is cheating tho - even if the song sucked i'd want to like it lol.

Fantastic Bob
I love how you made the loop do it's job for you without having to hide it. Great synth sound and the lyrics and vocals are killer. Pardon the pun. What a cutie!

michael2 said 100 days ago
awesome
man this is good. you twisted that loop into a really pleasing sound, that is just phenomenal sounding. It's funny, I thought of you when I was putting mine together and we both have the word "eyes" in our tunes. I am totally in love with this. love the breakdown about 3/4 of the way in, that plucked sound is great over that low growl. your daughter is really cute too: I know what you mean, my little girl has a sway over me like I can't even describe. excellent song made even more noteworthy by the fact that it is a LIOLI challenge.

Diviner said 100 days ago
Very nice
Sounds like a mashed up version of the B52's. Like what you have done here with the loop. I like your electro pop tunes, this has a slow head nodding rhythm thats infectious. Cool track Bob.

P.s. Yes, Daddy's little girl can get away with murder.

lengold said 99 days ago
Bob, this is
just so infectious. Fantastic idea for a lyric and the beat/music just drills into the brain. Vocals are spot on too - like the double (triple?) tracking.
Forgot about the loop - this is just too good.
Cheers

Cool track!
Being a dad myself with two daughters, I know all too well of what you speak :P Excellent way to use that crazy loop!

I hope you won't hunt me down for saying this, but your VOX here kinda remind me of good ol' Slim Shady. I really do mean that as a compliment!

SmokeyVW said 99 days ago
a study in contrast
the distorted loop synths so rough & crude and so unlike the song pic!

yet it works -- it murderizes me!

this is ingenous

thanks

I'll have to export a few to you.

Dorsey is on fire and at his best.

He's back!

Fresh from his hit Rock and Roll Dad.

Rock'N'Roll Dads Unite!
So funny to see all the DADS comment on this song and the cjdaley cover before this one.

Thanks for the feedback.

What I find interesting is that NO females have commented on this song and only Char commented on Rock'n'roll Dad. Either all women hate me or they hate dads.

What do you think?

And for the record, my wife didn't like the song title so she hasn't even heard this song, but that's not unusual. She actually grimaced when I told her the name of the song. Is it me or is it just a girl thing?

I'm just happy that I have you guys to help me through these tough times. Thanks for supporting me and being there. I got your back too.

Thanks for humoring me and listening to my song. I know that you know what it's like to have those eyes look back at you. Heck, you know twice as well as anyone I know!

Thanks again!

Char said 98 days ago
Stop whining, Bob.
All you have to do is talk nice to us and we'll come on over to pat your head. What you need are bedroom eyes.
Girls and their Daddies! You want to protect them but you have to let them go. It's love! Great song! Okay?
(Use charm, man... we'll come down.)

Thanks for listening and commenting Char,

I just thought it was peculiar that only guys (and apparently mostly dad's with daughters) had commented on this song and the last. I didn't mean to sound so needy for attention from the ladies. You always listen to my songs, so you're the exception to the rule. It does seem odd doesn't it?

Thanks for your continued support and frequent pat on the head!

Bob

PS - I still think your latest tune with ic42 is fantastic. He needs to have you sing on more of his innumerable subroutines.

Could Ruby be any CUTER?

Excellent electro-pop dude. Maybe this should have been the "A" side?

Love the main psycho-synth riff throughout. COOL yet slightly menacing. Ha ha...

Be well!

Can't get enough of your vox, Bob.
Got the trademarks all over it - fine fine work (I expect nothing less!)

I take it the balancing act of posting a picture of both Hondo (R&R Dad) & Ruby here had to be done to keep the peace in the Dorsey mansion?

Hey and I really like that sudden en

five_extra_arms said 97 days ago
Sudden En....
Yeah, I debated about the ending, then, Line of Dead Pixels and I sat here and listened to it with a long sustained note at the end and the abrupt ending and he said, "You always hold that last note at the end", so I used the short version. BTW, when I listened to it on this page, it actually sounds a few milliseconds shorter than the GB file does.

Thanks for the comment Jim. Your new tune is beautiful.

Great piece!
Sounds a lot like Rupert Hine, if you remember. Especially early on in the song and the singing. Cool production all the way.

Love this, Bob. You made that loop really work for you. This song sounds like a cool B-52s. You know if they weren't so fluffy. That was a compliment by the way. Really like the break and this big full mix. Man you get better with every post.

kristyjo said 94 days ago
And guess what-
She'll keep on using those eyes to get exactly what she wants for as long as she can get away with it. Ask my daughter - AKA 'daddy's little girl'.

estellie said 49 days ago
Yikes!
You rocked that loop to pieces.

Ruby is a lucky girl. I wish I inspired rock songs like this when I was a little girl with "Get Away with Murder Eyes" ha ha.

Substituting these past 2 weeks I've gotten to know about 70 pairs of those kind of eyes, boys and girls.

And Ruby is SO cute. The photo and the great lyrics combined, and now I can just see it.
