Description I wanted to revitalize the vocals on this one for a long time! I really like the direction. I just really like this song... hope you do too!
Lyrics Starlight rests on the branches and the twigs of the night

Lift my head take a breath take a step I'm alright

Branches' cradle home
take me with you
beneath the dome
of distant thoughts and ideas for all time

Sunlight rests behind the blind contemplation of night

Solidify truth in sparkle cast light

Branches' cradle home
take me with you
beneath the dome
of present thoughts and ideas for all time

Thanks Bro!
I've had a creative slump lately. But I realize every one of my songs is at least in need of a little work, if not a total overhaul!

Thanks again,
Doug

Loved this
the first time. Fantastic original sounding vocal (a little like Marc Bolan).
Cheers
Len

Hey Len!
Thanks for the nice compliment! I am working on putting a little animation into my performance.

Thanks,

Doug

I cant
pull this kind of sound off Besides the bass there is no beat but it flows and the lyrics are beautiful. I'm not sure if I heard the original. Anyway great great song!

Thanks bandit!
Yeah, it's a leap of faith, for sure, lol!

Thanks for the generous comments, truly.

For some strange reason ..
.. this reminds me of Dan Hicks and his Hot Licks - a very good thing.

This is still a great song and definitely seems to have a bit of a sparkle about it - unfortunately the hiss has a bit more sparkle too, but not really an issue. How did you come up with this one? The melody/music are a great (but unpredicted) match.

Top post Doug!!

Thanks Neil!
I know a bit, but not enough about production to solve certain issues. Other times, I like the roughness of my recordings. In this case we can call the hiss, "breath." ;)

Thanks for the comparison. I remember coming into this one wanting a cleanish acoustic/ambient sound with jazz like vocals. In fact, I tried to model Frank Sinatra's style of unpredictable vocal attacks, if I described it correctly.

This might help answer egobandit's thoughts, as well. But it is a degree of sensing where to sing, rather than direct cues.

Hey cool!
What did you do to achieve that vocal sound bro? It's really excellent.

Love this one. It still reminds me of Aoxomoxoa era Grateful Dead.

One of your best. I'm glad you re-visited this!

Be well friend!

Nice to see you, Man!

Thanks for the compliment! I am a bit of a flower child!

this is
a really great song, and i love the production. everything is just perfectly placed. there is a bit of hiss, although i really think it's fitting for this song. i guess if you really want to get rid of it, you could just run the whole track thru an EQ and cut some of the high end. But i like it in here, reminiscent of some of Devendra Banharts early stuff, really great song. Right up my alley.

Doadars Uncle said 98 days ago
Thanks Michael
I don't remember hearing Banhart. I'll give it a shot!

Thanks for the tech tip. That helps a lot!

Glad you stopped by!

great stuff
I like this a lot. A bit other worldly but at the same time it has an easy familiarity which makes it a compulsive listen. Not sure how you managed to do that!
I like the surprise of the sudden ending. The only thing I'd say is to EQ a little high frequency off the acoustic guitar but this is nit picking.
Great work!
All the best
Steve

cool mood
there's something about this song that generates a cool vibe. maybe it's a old hippie injection that makes me dig it.
