Description Number 50 on MacJams.

This is the first song I'm posting that I have actually recorded this year. I almost always record in spurts and then let them out later. I'm going to be trying to post some of the ones I recorded early last spring and summer.

I have a crappy habit of recording songs that are 90% ready and leaving the rest for later. Then, when I come back, it can be a bit of a struggle.
Anybody, can you relate?

I truly wish that this song entertains you and it gets in your head.

LL
Lyrics A Little Bit Sunny

I don’t remember what you recall
It don’t matter at all
It just proves that I’m wrong

And don’t you find it a little bit odd
To know what I sense
It makes no difference
Because

Ah, it’s a little bit sunny outside, today
Ah, it’s a little bit sunny outside, today

And when you whisper louder in time
You will not see the sign
‘cause you’re not taking mine

Winding down, but don’t leave so fast
You don’t forget the past
We cry ‘cause we laugh

Ah, it’s a little bit sunny outside, today
Ah, it’s a little bit sunny outside, today

I have the sight, but I know I just might
Hide in my room for the rest of my life
Closing the door, I think there is more
Sound in the morning, it’s hard to ignore

Sun in the morning, I should take the warning
Illusions I see, a blind mystery
Working his feelings, I stare at the ceiling
Thinking of you thinking of me
Thinking of you thinking of me

first off very cleanly recorded sounds great! that guitar solo and the bridge after. oh yeah!

excellent song Dave. it's trippy & I dig it.

lavalamp said 101 days ago
Dig it
I dig that you dig it, man.

Thanks for all your support Vic.

psychedelic
i like the unusual chord changes. nice guitar sounds. I think a bit of Syd Barrett when I listen. (I'm a huge fan of his).
adding some drum fills might have enhanced the drum part some. I'm not really one to talk in that department though!

lavalamp said 101 days ago
Drums
I did take that under consideration ans even experimented a bit. It made the drums too busy and distracting. But, I can see what you mean. Good ears.

Thanks a bunch,

Dave

Cheers David,

Really catchy mood in your song. I especially dig the last part of it a lot; from the instumental part and to the end. Interesting creation.

And I was astonished from reading your words about your work and posting process. Felt that, wow here you are expressing in distinct words exactly my situation. I have tons of recordings waiting to be taken care of .. among them stuff that I know I like .. but it seems I rather make new recording than take care of the old. I try to catch up, but keep lagging.. My last post for example was recorded two years ago.

lavalamp said 99 days ago
Hi Cori
Spring cleaning is always a good thing to do. You always seemed to find a lot of missing silver and gold.

Glad to hear someone could relate. Go back to the old ones one day. I recommend it.

And thanks Cori, Glad you liked the song.

Great song Dave
There's a cool melancholy feel to the chorus how it turns a bit south in the middle. Really like the spacey guitar break and the overall production is excellent - a little Kinks and early Floyd meets Can. Just my cup of tea.

lavalamp said 99 days ago
Cup of tea
Do you take one lump, or two?

Thanks Bud,

Dave

Love
that guitar solo. Great delay. It's a wonderful mashup of 1966 Brit-pop and 1994 Brit-pop. Great chord progression, too. Gives it a spooky feeling.

lavalamp said 99 days ago
Rain
1966 always reminds me of "Rain" or "She Said, She Said". I love those dreamy guitars and vocals.

I can only try to emulate those sounds. That's what I was going for. I hope I got it.

There's This Ease About Your Songs
There's always something about your songs that I find comforting and enjoyable. I think your chorus explains it. Ah, it%u2019s a little bit sunny outside, today. That could be the disclaimer on all your songs.

So Dave, my good friend, I think your 50th tune was pretty incredible. Let's race to 100!

That's it. I'm going to change my to "The Ease".

Thanks Five Extra Bobs,

The Ease
Man, I like that.

Did you just come up with that out of thin air?

The Ease

Yeah. I like it.

It'd make a good album title too.

Char said 100 days ago
I heard
the rueful commentary. I hide in my room, because I don't want the sun to complicate my internal dreariness.
It may not be good, but it's familiar. Good song. Thank you.

lavalamp said 99 days ago
Feelings may be
temporary in my case. Maybe, even momentary. So, therefore, the words really mean nothing. Just sound good, I hope.

nice tune and congrats on your 50th. i'm loving the guitar on this, very psych/garage punk. that vocal part after the solo is really cool, i kept hearing drum fills in my head that followed the rhythm of the vocal part there. great chord progression and melody, I could see you and Vic Holman forming a supergroup. really great tune.

lavalamp said 99 days ago
Holman
Fills would work I agree. Happy you could dig the sound.

Vic is a master. Would love to work with him again.

Thanks,

Dave

tempie said 100 days ago
of course i dig the sunny part
and the trippy part, and the piano. Really like the strange chanting "sun in the morning, i should take warning" break - strange but fun. Is this what Brian Wilson was thinking all those years that he lay curled up in bed???

lavalamp said 99 days ago
Fun but strange
That's what it's all about.

Like the mental image of Brian Wilson curled up in a sand box.

I hope I'm not that whacked.

Dave

And thanks.

Reminiscent of ..
.. A song from "Berlin" the stage show by Iva Davies. It may be a Bowie track that I'm thinking of.

Cool chord structure, nice sounds and nicely recorded.

Good one Dave.

Wow...Sorry...
I thought I had already heard this one and commented. I'm LOSIN' it! Ha ha...

Very nice tune David. Love that descending chord progression. That reverbed guitar sounds almost like a mandolin. Cool effect.

The chorus---when the bassline kicks in---has that good ol' Moody Blues feel.

Love it bro. Really good tuneage! Thanks for the heads up!

Be well friend!

Thanks as usual for the nice words, Mr. Wark.

Nice, nice, nice
This is a really nice song. The guitar sound is very nice, and those drums work very well, too, with a lovely sound. I get what you're saying about drums getting too busy, but I too would have liked some fills. Great lyrics and lovely changes, and what a nice vocal performance. Your vocal is so distinctive and warm, and you bring such a cool attitude to your vocal performances. Lovely song, and excellent performance. Very cool. Sorry it's taken me a while to get here! Nicely done, my friend. Peace.

lavalamp said 95 days ago
Fills
I agree. I'm not going to procrastinate and I will post a version with better drums this week. I think it would sound a bit better.

Tell me what you think.

Thanks,

Dave
