Description Man I love these LIOLI things. The last one motivated me to finish something.

This time I bought a mic and thought I'd give this singin thing a shot. I've got a long ways to go! Try not to cringe, I'm somewhere around 6 hours into my vocal development. The bass is also a new addition. Penciling midi notes for bass tracks is becoming very tedious.

As for the tune, when in doubt, go simple and silly. just wanted to create something simple enough that I could try some vox.

Okay now Willy
I don't know why you feel the need to hide you singing, you've got a great voice. And you put it to good use here I'll tell ya. Great backing tracks with and awesome bass and drums sound, Cool licks on the strat and then there's that loop. The loop is in there, but you've blended it in so well with the rest of the song that it sounds like you really wanted it there for effect.

Great job my friend, Kudos

Ed

..
Thanks Ed, yah..I almost chickened out on posting this. I got a long ways to go on vocals, but you gotta jump in somewhere. May as well do it right out of the gate.

Thanks for the comments!

hey Feter
Thanks for the comments! Summers about over, and I'm looking forward to getting back to listening to MJ tunes a little more often...see you around.

Crazy
Look out for that crazy man. Enjoyed your effort. Its always a lot of fun to hear different approaches to using the loop. You have it as a pretty important backing instrument, mixed well with your guitars and vocals.

Thanks
Bill

WillyB said 102 days ago
thanks bill...
...i was hoping the loop wouldn't get lost. I used the clean rhythm track and made sure I left some air holes in the bass/vox lines so the loop could be heard.
Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment.

Great fun!
I love the lyrics - for some reason I imagined Neil Young singing them (!?). The guitar sounds awesome in there - I wish you had brought the solo up in the mix more!

WillyB said 102 days ago
...
...i wanted to bring the lead volume up a notch, but it was in one of those spots where the slider would jump three numbers, I ran out of time and chose the lower "safe" number. Haha..you imagined neil young? Are you getting ready to ask me for a hundred bucks? :-D

Thanks for the comments Chikoppi.

Crazy Man Indeed
....writing a tune about Dr. Lioli himself - what a blast. I'm amazed at how well that loop meshes with your guitars as well; absolutely solid work.

And I LO-O-OVE the artwork!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WillyB said 102 days ago
...
..thanks Rik. Figured I'd give a little nod to the creator with the art. Hey, I vote we put LIOLI in a cryogenic container and send him off thru the stars rather than killing him off. Maybe someone will stumble on him in a few years and wake'm up? ;-)

You show promise young SupLooper
I will be watching you as you gain strength in using the Schwartz.

Excellent use of the loop and good production on the rest of the music. The vocal track stands out from all the rest and is primo.

WillyB said 102 days ago
hey...
..thanks again jedi master...and I'll be working on that strength thing...it's a glaring weakness! Here's hoping I can hit at least 10% of the notes next time ;-)

Diviner said 102 days ago
Really cool
I like what you have done hear and I agree with the consensus that you have a good singing voice. I agree with you to go silly and simple because it works really well. Nice one WillyB

...appreciate your comments Diviner.

A for the graphic
Looks like a frightening storm headed this way. Good use of the loop in the song, nice rocker!

..thanks for the comments RP. come to think of it, i do the artwork the same way i do the music... throw a bunch of stuff together ...mix, mash and blend until I'm out of time!

Voice

Very good song .
You have nice rythm ideas (short/long notes for exmple) with your singing and a good voice .

...thanks for the input. Long ways to go, so thanks for your encouraging comments!

wurzel said 102 days ago
Excellent track
great guitar sound, and your voice sounds just fine to me. Keep it up :-)

WillyB said 101 days ago

thanks for the comments wurzel...that a 2nd life avatar? I'll have to look for your live shows if I ever get around to going back there.

Terrific
job on smoothing out the loop. Which I am beginning to cringe from. On the vox, if this is you first shot your not to far off the mark. You hang in there with the correct tone for the key. Go somewheres where you can make silly of yourself and practice scales, strength, breath control while doing funny noises and vowels. Aida, is a good word to start with and you can stretch it and play with with it. My original vocal influence was with Mario Lanza with the movie the Great Carroso. Nuff said.
You have some knock down guitar riffs going for you and a great sense for composition.

Your definitely a number one Loopertrooper in my book.

...
...thanks for the suggestions and comments..I was hoping to get some input like this. I'm in my car for almost two hours a day, so plenty of opportunity to make silly sounds. Ahhh eeeeeeeeee da..all the way to work and back :-D Thanks again for your encouraging comments.

nice
drums are great, gtr is really nice and the bass is a great addition. i love using real bass. as for your voice: i think it sounds good. nothing to be ashamed of there at all. great ass whipping you've given the Doc.

WillyB said 97 days ago
....
thanks M2..I actually stole the drum track from another tune I was working on. I hate penciling, but I hate straight using loops even worse :-) thanks for dropping by.

Crazy Man
You have a smoking guitar sound and I worked well with the loop. I'm always amazed when people like you are hesitant to sing, especially when I hear that you have a nice voice.

Glad you were brave enough to try singing. On to the next one!

WillyB said 97 days ago
...
thanks for the listen and the comments! I'll be working on those vocals.

dajama said 99 days ago
Very cool
This sounds great. Makes me think of The Cure somehow, and I love the guitar sound here, and some really nice bass playing on here too if you ask me. Your vocal sounds really good to me - nice job - keep it coming! Lovely lead, with a nice sound (maybe bring it up in the mix a tad?) and love the lyrics. Very cool. Nicely done. Peace.

WillyB said 97 days ago
...
the cure... I actually thought that too while I was recording. I was thinking of going more in that direction with the rhythm guitar, but I didn't want to smother the loop. Thanks for stopping by!

SmokeyVW said 99 days ago
nice pic
i like the chords chosen for the loop

the vocals fit right in - silly or not - i like it

great guitar work

thanks

WillyB said 97 days ago
...
..I think the chords were close to being my only choices; especially running the loop the whole way thru...and I used all three of them :-D thanks for listen and the comment!

bud said 99 days ago
Excellent vocals Willy
You're off to the races now - gotta hear more. Your strat sounds really sweet and the bass books along well. Fine track indeed.

WillyB said 97 days ago
...
thanks bud...i probably shoulda did a little more production on vocals; but thought I'd strip down to at least the undies on the first jump...now it can only get better (I hope).

lengold said 97 days ago
Pleased that
you decided to start singing - it was the right decision. I really like your voice, very clear with a definite character to it.
Excellent song and great guitar, enjoyed.
Cheers
Len

WillyB said 97 days ago
hey..
..there's LenG...I feel like asking for your autograph after listening to your Monster Miss. Thanks for the cool comments! And scrolling down the page, I just happened to catch neldlog and lengold on top of each other in the fan list..I take it neldlog's that dude in your mirror?

jiguma said 27 days ago
There's a real Bowie connection here
in the backing - maybe its Ashes to Ashes in the guitar and bass riffs at the start.

I wouldn't be worrying about your voice too much. 6 hours in eh, and already sounding good! I too hear a Neil Young atmospheric to the vocal.

I like the tune and the performance. Production is clear and crisp.

Good post!

Neil
