Keywords Lioli 8 Challenge (1)
Description Rocking The Clav

Since Dr. Lioli choose to take on the Super Loopers again, I thought I'd try and do my part with this piece. I used the "Walking Clav 01" loop on no less than 3 track in this. The loop is used as it came playing a Clav, also as a Percussion Organ, and at 1/2 speed it is also the bass line for the song. If that doesn't monkey up the works of the Dr.'s machine I don't know what will.

There is also a track with drums loops made from "70s Street Drums" (numbers 03,05,06,07,09,10, & 11), and 4 tracks of guitar parts., 2 leads and 2 rhythm parts. I played the first lead part on the Peavey Generation EXP and the other on the Ibamez RX-40. The rhythm parts are comprised of loops, one being "Spacious Guitar 04" (acoustic rhythm) and the other being "Chunk Delay Chords 06",

I hope this puts an end to the Dr.'s plans to build a Polka Karaoke Park here where MacJams City is, and I hope you enjoy the show as well.

Be well and be cool,

Ed

Man ! ... this is a cool spacey darn blues !!!!!
just loved it ...the bass line so hypnotic alone
with the lead line ..loved that loved that ..
thnx alot for sharin !!!!

sloparts said 102 days ago
Thanks Feter
Yesterday afternoon, I realized I didn't have anything to post for the LIOLI 8 challenge. I got real busy, real fast and whipped this thing out. I wasn't sure it would work out, but then after I added the 2 guitar solos, and tweaked them a bit for sound, I knew it was gonna be okay. I know it's not great, but it'll have to do because I ran out of time.

Thanks for listening my friend and the kind words.

Be well and be cool,

Ed

Rhythm Section
That loop builds a mean rhythm section. I particularly like the bass line you got out of it. The coup de grace for this is your guitar lead, loops are great, but they are no substitute for a good player!

Thanks
Bill

sloparts said 102 days ago
Thanks Bill
As I was telling Feter this was a rush job. I put it together yesterday afternoon so I wouldn't be later to the party. The only thing that saves it is the guitar leads. Without them this would be deadly dull I'm afraid.

The loop created a steady droning bass line once it was converted over, almost like a trance line, but it worked okay.

Thanks for listening Bill and the kind words.

Be well and be cool,

Ed

Nice back rhythm to your lovely git... Cheers

sloparts said 102 days ago
Thanks Kenta
It'll pass muster, as they say, but I wouldn't want a real close inspection of it.

Thanks for coming by to listen my friend. I appreciate the very kind words.

Ed

if this doesn't throw a monkey wrench in the Dr's plans .... then help us all! what a great use of that wanky loop. this is really creative and ... very cool. too bad the dr. gets a taste of your sweet guitar work ... he doesn't deserve it! Great job Ed

sloparts said 102 days ago
Thanks Jack
All we can do now is wait for the final verdict on the Evil Dr.'s fate. I think CaptSloParts has something very special in mind for the Dr., but time will tell.

You do know that CaptSloParts is almost as unstable as Dr. LIOLI is don't you. Good thing he's on our side.

Thanks again for the kind words and for listening Jack, it is appreciated.

Be well and be cool,

Ed

Sometimes...
The best things come out of haste lol. (No time to over think them) I love the raw tone of the guitar a wicked contrast to the tightness of the loops. Great quickie Ed.
Peace
Guy

sloparts said 102 days ago
Thanks Guy
Yeah, I've been accused of being a great quickie before, but that's a subject for another venue.

Glad you enjoyed the song my friend. I was done in haste, but I did put some thought into it. I think it turned out okay, but only just.

Thanks again for the listen and the kind word Guy

The Kareoke Park is history
no doubt! I can hear the loop in there, and I'm amazed at how naturally it fits into the song.

Slowing down the loop to create a bass line was genius - I never think of stuff like that. I just dress 'em up and roll 'em out, but this re-engineering stuff is fascinating.

And I LOVE the guitar!

Also, you mentioned Capt. SloParts being almost as unstable as Dr. Lioli.... that made me grin! Reminded me about some of the studies I've read about the similarities of Batman and the Joker being more alike than either would care to admit... but that's a whole other topic!

sloparts said 102 days ago
Thanks Rik
This one was a rush job because I was so busy doing the other thing for, "You Know Who", that I forgot I had committed to doing one of my own. So here I sat yesterday afternoon all fat, dumb, and happy, when it occurs to me I haven't done anything yet for LIOLI-8.

This could have been better if I hadn't run out of time last night at midnight, but it is what it is. ( that's my story and I'm stickin' to it ). Anyway, thanks for dropping in to listen Rik, it is appreciated. ( especially since you haven't been doing anything else in the last 3 weeks ) ;-) lol I'm glad you enjoyed what I did this time and sent along the kind words on it.

Ya know Rik, we really ought to bring the matter of CaptSloParts instability up to the powers that be at MacJams City CIA Headquarters. If he ever turns on us he could be a more serious threat than Dr. Lioli.

Cool space jam...
...like Feter said.

Crude? Oh yes! But sometimes that's just what the doctor ordered.

Raw, fresh and meaty tuneage. A fun listen!

Be well friend!

sloparts said 102 days ago
Thanks Micheal
If it wasn't for the guitar tracks this would just plain suck. But then again, we have guitar tracks. The only saving grace, except maybe for using the Clav loop as a bass line.

Thanks for listening and being kind my friend, your words are appreciated.

Be well and be cool Mike,

Ed

...very cool Ed, as I knew it would be. love how you applied the spaghetti western style to the space theme. a spaghetti western theme with some bite..a LOT of bite. Another great one Ed!

sloparts said 102 days ago
Yeah, thats the ticket
A spaghetti western with bite. Funny, I never thought of it that way, but then again I didn't have time to think at all. I'm gonna go and do some research on this and see if maybe I've invented another genre. I already have Country-Funk to my credit. Why not Spaghetti-Western-Funk.

Anyway, thanks for the cool comments Willy, Glad you enjoyed the track and had a chance to hear it.

Be well and be cool my friend,

Ed

No drums

Cool idea :-)

sloparts said 102 days ago
Hello Henri
Well there actually are drums in there, but well back in the mix. I was having trouble getting them under control, and when I started running out of time to get it done, I just kept pulling them back until they'd stay out of the red. But the overall sound worked okay so I went with it.

Thanks for listening and commenting on the song my friend, it is appreciated.

Be well and be cool,

Ed

It just goes
to show how talented you are if you can come up with this at short notice! Lovely stuff. The rhythm is great, a lovely groove, and then the guitar! Your playing is excellent on this - really soulful and gritty - a great sound, and lovely melodic lines. You rock, my friend. Nicely done. Peace.

sloparts said 102 days ago
Thank you David
Some people are talented, some are lucky. I fit into the latter category more often than not. But I'll still take the comment and say thank you.

I decided that the best way to take this was with live guitar, and I wanted it to be like two guitar players having some fun doing a jam. So although there's not toast and jelly, there is a little jam in there.

Thanks for the kind words my friend, and for stopping in to listen.

Take care, be well and be cool,

Ed

sloparts said 102 days ago
Thank you Vic
CCR huh? Well I gotta tell you that's a first for me. But I'll take it. Glad you came by for a listen and enjoyed the track my friend. Thanks a bunch for the cool comments.

Now if I could just figure out a way to get that old Fa_t CaptSloParts back to the nursing home and on his medications again I'd feel a lot better.

Be well and be cool Vic,

Ed

reminds me of...
a futuristic spaghetti western soundtrack. Cowboy Bebop-ish.

sloparts said 100 days ago
Thanks Brian
Well, that tears it. I'm gonna contact the studios and see if they need me to write the score for Clint Eastwoods next movie. ;-) lol

Glad you enjoy this one Brian, I didn't pay any attention to the "Spsghetti Western" feel of it until you mentioned it, But now that I have, your statement rings true. Who'd a thunk it.

Thanks again for listening and for the cool comments my friend, it is appreciated. You may have defined a new movie genre in your words.

Be well and be cool,

Ed

Diviner said 102 days ago
Really good
esp considering you are saying that you ran out of time, I certainly would not have guessed. Clever use of the walking clav and all the parts to the track work really well. Very good track.

sloparts said 100 days ago
Thank you Keith
And I really did run out of time. I'd forgotten I needed to do this one until about 4pm local time on the 26th and it needed to be done by midnight that day to post it on Saturday. So all told, I actually have less than 8 hours of actual work in on this one.

Thanks for the listen and the kind words my friend, it is appreciated. Once I had the loop converted to a bass line the rest fell into place fairly easily. Doing the guitar part took the longest because I wanted a certaing sound there and had to play aroung for quite a time before getting what I wanted.

Thanks again Keith. Be well and be cool my friend,

Ed

.. I agree ... that darned ole LOOP has definitely received a face lift in this one ...... p.s. sometimes "quickies" have their place too ....

sloparts said 100 days ago
Thank you Alannah
This time the "Quickie" turned out okay, but sometimes that's not the case. Especially when it comes to me. I usually like to spend as much time as it takes to get the job done right, But this time I just couldn't.

Thanks for listening, and for the kind words my friend. It is very much appreciated.

Really well done
with the treatment on that viral loop. Or is it vial? Great transitions and progression you have there. If that doesn't thwart the enemy than I would be certain you have a counter composition to nail them with.

Most assuredly your a commander in the Loopertroopers. Carry on and on and on.

sloparts said 100 days ago
Thanks Richard
Me, a counter composition. You must be confused Sir. All I have is this offering to try and help the poor citizens of MacJams City.

If this doesn't win the battle, then others surely will with all the fine Super Loopers ( Loopateers ) available here in MacJams City. Love the idea of the "Loopateers" great thought there Richard.

But anyway, thank you again for listening and for the kind words my friend. It's nice to hear good things about ones work.

New wave blues! I think...

Nice guitar! I like the emotion of the rhythms.

sloparts said 100 days ago
Thanks Doug
Not sure what to call it as far as the genre goes. Maybe we could start a new genre and call it "Self Defense Blues". Whacha think ?

Glad you stopped in to listen and fond something to like about this my friend. Always good to have you review my stuff, and I do appreciate the kind words.

Be well and be cool,

it's the soundtrack for a new era of cowboy movies. that guitar sound is amazing, i really love what yu did to this thing. very original.

sloparts said 100 days ago
Thanks Micheael
That's the second comment about this being a cowboy movie film soundtrack I've heard, so there may be some truth to it. I didn't realize it until Brian ( elavator funk ) made the comment about a Spaghetti Western theme, and now your comment as well.

If it is then I'll have to pursue performance rights contracts with all the studios and see if I can get it placed in the next Clint Eastwood movie. ;-) lol

Glad you liked the guitar part. I spent a lot of time trying to get a sound that I really thought would work with this. Thanks again for listening to it Mike and for the kind words. They and you are very much appreciated my friend.

Be well and be cool,

Thanks ego,
but I think that gigs been cancelled for a while.

I understand that The Lawrence Welk organization has a Polk park somewhere in Minnesota, and they are looking for a few players in his band. You might look them up on the internet. ;-) lol

Glad you had a chance to listen to it ego, and sent along the kind words about the guitar parts. Thanks again for that my friend.

a nice half-speed loop you got there. the guitar expresses both our fear of the Dr and finally, our resolve to defeat him.

thanks

sloparts said 99 days ago
Thanks Bill
Fear leads to resolve when faced with annihilation.

That loop is in there at normal speed, 1/2 speed, and 2X speed depending on where you listen for it. I just wanted to make sure there was no chance for the Dr. to kill this one off without it doing some damage.

Glad you got the chance to hear this one my friend. Thanks again for the kind words, and for coming by,

Be well and be cool,

Ed

This is kind of like answering a "Nature Call". No matter how you try to ignore it, sooner or later you just have to do it.

Thanks again for the great comments on the guitar work, they are appreciated.

I guess once you've done one of these, they seem to get into your blood. This was was a lot of fun for me on several levels, not the least of which was listening to all the really great songs that were created around that Evil Loop, yours among them.

Be well and be cool my friend,

Ed

kristyjo said 96 days ago
I'm always amazed
at how some of you good folks hear stuff like this in the loops. Rush job or not, it works really well. Of course, the guitars over the bed are what makes it your own music. Great stuff!

sloparts said 96 days ago
Thanks Kristyjo
I think we get so caught up in the challenge sometimes that it becomes an act of desperation trying to get something done. Basically we build a new song with the idea that the loop has to fit in some how. It either works or it doesn't, so we just keep plugging away until it does work, at least to a degree we can live with.

Thanks again for coming over to listen Kristy, and for the nice comment on the guitar part. I'm really happy you enjoyed this song.

Be well and be cool,

Folk do talk about these loops and what can be done with them and now I have to ask, Wha'?..I am a humble techicdisasterean and have no clue about this arcane presdigitation.Help!!!!!!!!

Still a cracking good tune much appreciated.

We did what we had to to beat that sucker into submission, and it was a lot of fun doing it. These LIOLI challenges are not only fun, but they get the creative juices flowing too.

Thanks for the kind words. Be well and be cool,
