art ...man you just so Great ...what a bass and
piano ...powerfull work ... thnx alot for sharin !!!!

HenriROGERsoloandbands said 103 days ago
Fun

I had lot of fun doing this :-)
Thank you so much for your support .

announcer said 103 days ago
I love the juxtapositions here
The persistence of the loop against the counter melody of the bass line and the free form melodies of the additional instruments is really engaging.

I feel as if I am the one who stops and smells the roses and the garbage as the rest of the city folks just keep moovin' along.

HenriROGERsoloandbands said 103 days ago
The one who stops
Very nice description ,thank you very much .

Complete Production Henri
This is a very cool Jazz piece you built around that dastardly loop. Love the whole thing, but the piano really shines for me. he disjointed parts near the end are unusual to be sure, but in this case they seem to work really well.

Excellent piece of work here Henri, thanks for sharing.

Dastardly loop

Thank you very much .
I fell into dissonant music very soon .
I miss Zappa , Prince and jazz musics with harmony tensions .
Even the Beatles had a few "out" chords and notes ...
Also there were dissonnant musics in popular movies .

"Edangered Notes " ... :-)

peacepiano said 103 days ago
Complex
You take the simple loop and build a complex modern jazz sound with it. And you make it sound so natural, like all these notes were somehow hidden in the loop to start with. Cool small orchestra sound with the saxes, strings and flute sound taking interesting turns.

Thanks
Bill

HenriROGERsoloandbands said 102 days ago
Complex

Thank you very much .
The simple vs complex lines in music is a fantastic way to
create .
I have experimented this a lot with modal jazz where the bass lines can be easy and quite simple but the soloists are free to go in very rich harmonic and rythmic diections .

Skean said 103 days ago
Jazzy
Nice jazzy piece... Great mix this... Cheers

HenriROGERsoloandbands said 102 days ago

Very glad you enjoyed , thank you .

This is just
top class musicianship, composing skills and production. I miss Zappa too.
Cheers

Zappa

What a genius he was !
Thank you , much appreciated .

Henri ... how cool are you ??? VERY ! You make everything sound so simple ... what a great take on this loop!!

HenriROGERsoloandbands said 102 days ago
Sound simple

I think this is a great compliment :-)
Thenk you very much .

Moviz said 102 days ago
well...
with fingers as nimble as that how could you go wrong LOL. I love simple robot like naivety of the bass and drum opposed to the complex variety of the piano and other keyboard instruments you play, regards M

HenriROGERsoloandbands said 102 days ago
:-)

Playing the "wrong" note at the right time ... :-)
Thank you .

WillyB said 102 days ago

...nice ride. just started kickin back and the sax snuck up on me. Great performance and arrangement.

HenriROGERsoloandbands said 102 days ago
...

Glad you've been patient :-)
Thank you very much .

guitapick said 102 days ago
LOL...
...doesn't sound so simple to me...but it DOES sound fantastic!

I'm very into this, Henri...the bass and percussion create a very wide open sound which your right hand is having waaaay too much fun playing over.

;)

HenriROGERsoloandbands said 102 days ago
Right hand

I have to explain the things to my right hand , a good education lol
Thank you very much .

dajama said 102 days ago
Truly creative
You bring a great musical sensibility to this, working with the notes of the loop to create something that goes beyond the progression. Lovely, imaginative playing, and some really sweet touches on the piano, and then when the horns come in - wow! I love the arrangement. Very cool. Nicely done. Peace.

HenriROGERsoloandbands said 102 days ago
Peace

Much appreciated ,thank you .

And here is the ultimate deception
When this little jewel is launched, the Dr. won't know what hit him. Total chaos will reign in his brain as it stews in it's own juices from a complete system overload.

Very effective, and very deadly to the Dr.

HenriROGERsoloandbands said 102 days ago
Poor DR :-)

Thank you very much .

Rik_Berryere said 102 days ago
Zappa would love this
...wow. I wish I could paint a picture of just how artful and entrancing this is. I couldn't imagine something jazzy and disjointed linking up with that crazy-simple loop, but this works beautifully. I couldn't describe how, and the grin on my face doesn't worry about why - this is just one big slap of brilliance across the loop.

HenriROGERsoloandbands said 102 days ago
Very cool

Much appreciated , thank you .

Elevator_Funk said 102 days ago
I love this..
but... no matter how much it inspired what you played, that loop doesn't deserve to be a part of this awesome tune....

HenriROGERsoloandbands said 102 days ago
The loop

Thank you very much .
I think without the loop it migth sound a bit too serious ?

Diviner said 102 days ago
Well this certainly surprised me
Its been said before, however I am going to say it again. I love these challanges because you get to hear so many ideas on one theme. This track certainly is completely different to anything I have heard so far, its great. Very original music, well done.

By the way, I loved Egypt, beautiful country and seeing the pyramids was a dream come true.

HenriROGERsoloandbands said 102 days ago
Surprise
Thank you.
I'm very glad this track gets many nice comments .
I'm not worried anymore for the "Endangered Notes" :-)
My family was on the Suez canal for my father's job till the independance of Egypt .
I never saw the pyramides ... :-( :-)

I am ....
.. reminded of the "mad scientist" ... with wild hair flowing as he creates his latest masterpiece using the piano as his laboratory of choice ! oh so avante guarde .... (did I spell that wrong?) ... anyhoo ... very kewl treatment !

Avant-garde

There are some science and mathematics here :-)
But shuuutt it's a secret .
Thank you very much .

Rocha Malhada said 102 days ago
that's just funk'd up
Loose as a goose flyin on the keys, the woodwind right before 2 minutes just knocked me out of my chair

Really cool piece, I forgot all about that loop

Endangered, indeed!
I love the 'controlled chaos' of this piece, and the way the colors shift and change around the constant loop in a vibrant flurry.

The dissonance and departure at the end is particularly nice! Nothing predictable about this!

Fantastic production, too. Thanks for sharing :)

"Controlled Chaos"

Thank you very much .

Ibstrat said 101 days ago
Just fantastic
stuff here.the transition from the loop into the saxes then strings is just spectacular. Is a little Zappa like- St. Alphonso's Pancake Breakfast. The loop kind of adds an element of humor.Someday I hope to learn to play dissonant lines like that on the guitar!

HenriROGERsoloandbands said 101 days ago
Dissonant

There is a great book about dissonant lines :
"the thesaurus of scales" , Nicholas Slonimski .

Thank you very much .

The Orbiting said 101 days ago
Genius
I love the section that moves from the potent saxes to the melancholy, heart-twisting strings. This goes in such unpredictable, fascinating directions and I admire what you've created here SO much, Henri. (L)

HenriROGERsoloandbands said 101 days ago

Thank you , I'm very glad you enjoyed the listen .

i love the counterpoint that iis in everything. that piano is amazing too, really nice. almost reminds me of Bowies Alladin Sane pianist. i'm very impressed.

Mike Garson
"I've had more communication in the last 26 years about that one solo than the 11 albums I've done on my own, the six that I've done with another group that I'm co-leader of, hundreds of pieces I've done with other people and the 3,000 pieces of music I've written to date. I don't think there's been a week in those 26 years that have gone by without someone, somewhere, asking me about it!"
He was "Alladin Sane" pianist ...
Much appreciated comment , thank you .

One of my favs pianits :-)
Thank tou .

Amazing piano work
but then that's no surprise from you. Great way to work off the loop like he's a member of the band stuck in a groove while the rest of you work magic to keep it changing. Really excellent - love the sax work too and all your voice choices.

HenriROGERsoloandbands said 99 days ago
Off the loop

It's cool to have a kind of robot playing the non stop same boring thing with no opinion on the result LOL
Thank you .

SmokeyVW said 99 days ago
nice trip
i love the opening chords you chose to comp the loop. i didn't quite understand the bass line though - but that's OK.

the piano lead is great fun - tons of energy there! the horns came in as a welcome surprise. my, it's getting thick and dark now.

and now we're leveling off - skimming over a lake at dawn perhaps... to finally soar into the sky

thanks

HenriROGERsoloandbands said 99 days ago

Very cool description , thanks a lot .

DWL said 97 days ago
Amazing
what you've done with this.

The playing is brilliant and using the loop as more of a rhythm instrument really works.

Wonderfully inventive with nice changes of texture. Almost a little Messien like in the strings against the piano I thought.

Cheers

Dick
