Description I'm comin' home!

Another Blind Dog Sky song. Question: Does the chorus effect on the bass work for you? I'm unsure... Also, is there too much xylophone?
Lyrics I'm leavin' here tonight
I'm puttin' all of this behind me
I'm comin' home

Lookin' for a way
to make these memories go away
I'm comin' home

I'm layin' down my guns
and I am headed for the sun
I'm comin' home

I'm bringin' all your letters
and I will read them on the way
I'm comin' home

I'll be there when you wake up
so baby look for me

hah-ooooo-oooo-oo
hah-ooooo-oooo-oo

I'll be there when you wake up
I'll be there so just look for me
I'll be there so don't you cry baby

Caking on the cake
I especially like the electric piano bits. My daughter was with me while I listened. After it was over I could hear her going "ah-oooh!". When she realized the song was over, she asked me to play it again. She's got good taste! Thanks for posting this gem!

rsorensen said 108 days ago
Cakey
Thanks eric. That's so cool! Really brought a smile to my face. Glad she likes it.
Definitely a Cake vibe with this - when I realized it while recording I just had to go back and add the 'ohhh yeah, ahhh no, alllright' at the end.

argh
Ok, so I meant to say I got a cake vibe, but my previous subject line just looks like a typo. Also, what I heard as an electric piano is apparently a xylophone... but I love it no matter what we're calling it.

rsorensen said 108 days ago
well
i guess it's a piano trying to be an electric piano trying to be a xylophone. whatever it is, glad you like!

craft said 108 days ago
I like it

I dig this alot!
You also got my wife's approval:). I think you should keep the chorus effect on the bass. It creates a nice space/depth. I like the xylophone. I don't think it's too much. Maybe every other time bring it up an octave or something along those lines?

It's great as is. The vox are wonderful too! I'll be checking out and downloading more of your stuff soon. Thanks for putting this one out there!

R,
Very prolific these days, aren't we? Every time I turn around you have a new song posted. Dude, and the quality! No slouch are we. Love this one. You get the greatest tone on you acoustic! The xylo is perfect, adds just the right bit of clean-ness to the lush-ness. Jangly and warm. Cool. D/L!

Sounds good
Sounds good to me Ridd. Actually, it sounds amazing.

I'm afraid that you'll be leaving us if you keep up at this rate.

Can't you post something sucky to make me feel better?

xylophone is perfect
Great chord progression and bass hook, just rambles along. LOVE the backups, the hah-oooo and the contrasting shouted vocals. Just a very authentic well produced tune. Can't wait to listen to the dl in my truck. Thanks!

don't touch a thing ... in my ears is a beauty

first off
you are a writing machine.... you either have a backlog of about 500 songs, or nothing better to do....hehe.
when i first started recording with GB, alot of people said good mixes were hard to so because of volume issues and a thin effecting/compressing ability. i proved metal could be successfully done in GB, see http://www.macjams.com/artist/Montgomery California for some tunes, yet you have surpassed my gb abilities for sure. your mixes are solid. your effecting is subtle and tasty. the lows are low, the highs are high, and the mids are perfectly placed.
it is great to have a musician of your caliber around to keep me from quitting this loint..

Ya
this is indeed a treat. I wouldn't change a thing Mr. Sorensen! The vocals are totally fine!

Moviz said 107 days ago
All sounds
pretty well balanced to me; great combination of sounds as well as the great vocal... all making a simple song with nice lyrics sound special and the xylophone is fine, regards M

first of all how are you recording that acoustic? perfect tone.

great songwriting & vocals!

great harmony slides with the right amount of grit.

xylophone seems fine by me & i wasn't really noticing much of a chorus on the bass so your fine there.

Great!
This is a perfect blend of performance, musicality and engineering. A joy to listen to and crystal clear.

Wouldn't change a thing!

beautiful
love the classic rock feel on this one, and that melody is first rate. the vibes sound is working for me, not too much at all. slide is inspired and everything sounds really nice. those harmonies after the solo are perfect. as for the chorused bass sound, my vote is on getting rid of it. i'd rather hear a nice warm ampeg type of sounds. it's taking away the definition to me. but really, that's nitpicking and besides: you asked. great great track. actually maybe the ending should just be the vox and no vibe part. feel free to ignore me, you know what you're doing.

chillin with a groove
So my co-workers asked me what I was listening to because I was unknowingly bobbing my head and swaying from side to side while listening to this song. Perfect amount of acoustic, electric, and vocals. excellent

cjdaley said 104 days ago
never too much
xylophone. Besides that, its' , well, ...humbling.

Wow!
"I'm laying down my guns and headed for the sun..." GREAT LYRIC!

This is classic Ridd. I love how well you recorded those acoustic guitars.

Vocal fits like a glove. Exquisite harmonies. Slide guitar solo burns along reverently. As for the xylophone, I find it more supportive than intrusive.

Change up in the percussion during the soloing works nicely.

All in all a beautiful bit O' tuneage friend.

Be well!

Micheal sent me,
and I'm glad he did.

Very nice song with some great lyrics and a great vocal to back them up. That Acoustic guitar sound very full and rich, without being boomy which can be hard to accomplish. I didn't notice any after effects on the bass that took anything away form it overall impact on the song. It just sits the filling in the rhythm and driving the song along as it should. It does sound rich.

Love the slide and then when you get into the lead with some grit into it it fleshes out that part of the song very well.

This is a keeper Ridd and a great song start to finish. Kudos my friend

Yea, this song is excellent.
I don't think the vibes are too much, nor did the bass stick out sourly at all.
That Epiphone sounds amazing.
Very nice work.

It flows
Love the feel of this one, it has a nice laid back flow to it.
Easy going rhythm guitar and a beautiful, creamy-sounding slide, enhancing a subtly rich vocal.

Great lyrics simply stating a timeless message that all lovers at share at one time or another.

I thought this tune to be..............a beauty.

Right on!
I like the strumming. The electric guitar riffs are very nice. You have all the right ingredients for a hit.

Awesome!
