Keywords Love (1000)Her (5)So (14)Ivony and EJ are getting married (1)
Description Today is the big day. My oldest daughter is getting married. And I couldn't have asked for a better son-in-law. Congratulations EJ and Ivony! This song was written about my daughter Ivony, she is the one on the left. Please Congratulate my daughter Ivony and son-in-law EJ.

There are several other versions of this song, one version included David Thomas, Mark Cole and Richard Schletty. A special thanks to John Parker who graciously sang this time. I believe we were on the same page for this version. He asked me what kind of vocals I was looking for and I told him a country feel would be nice. He responded stating that's what he had in mind as well.

Lyrics I know that way back then, we were best of friends
A lot of things we did A lot of things were said
But now she’s grown much older and doesn’t cry on my shoulder
She’s got a mind of her own and doesn’t come home...

Ooh I love her so I don’t want to let her go
She’s out in the world alone pick up the phone...

I’d hold her oh so tight taught her wrong from right
Remembering the steps she made beckoning her to come my way
I pray that God will keep her safe cause it’s my faith
Away from harmful people or what ever they’ll do...

Ooh I love her so I don’t want to let her go
She’s out in the world alone pick up the phone...

Haven’t seen her for a while she comes back time to time
There’s always food on our table and a place to sleep
So I wait beside my door a couple of hours or more
Maybe she’ll come home and I’ll hold her tight...

Ooh I love her so I don’t want to let her go
She’s out in the world alone pick up the phone...

Excellent
Great soundtrack for your life. Congratulations to your family.

It does lean on the country side of the rock spectrum, but not too much.

Very nice song.

No reason this couldn't be on the charts.

A perfect Corn attack -- Yay!
Tex, this is the wonderstuff. I'm blown away by the love of a father for a daughter. After an absolutely perfect day with my nearly 4 year-old daughter enjoying an Indian Summer day in East Tennessee, I laughed until tears came out recounting some of the day's joy with her little, growing mind. I can't imagine the joy and pride you feel letting your bug 'un go now as an adult.

This, coming from a jaded 49 year-old late dad who never thought such love was possible. I promised my daughter, upon tucking her in tonight, that I would start work on a song about a mermaid - that is, about her alter-ego as a mermaid. Hope this comment wasn't too self-indulgent; it's written in empathy. All the best, ol' dawg.

I appreciate your comments and I can somewhat relate to your age as well as having a little girl. I think a little mermaid song would be nice... I don't know which character my five year old would choose, there are so many...

It was a nice wedding
Very pretty wedding but a lot of work. I think the wife and I will have to figure out what to do with ourselves since preparation has occupied the past year of our lives. Thanks for the kind words and I think that John Parker did a fine job on the vocals.

Fresh
I like the fresh sound. Lyrics are clear and say a lot! The way you weave in the guitar leads helps drive the song forward. Enjoyed every note :)

Thanks
Bill

TEXASFEEL said 109 days ago
Hey Bill
Thanks for taking a listen. I appreciate the encouragement. I believe I've got about 5 versions of this song. Maybe now that I handed my oldest daughter over I should work on a song for the next daughter. I'm glad you found this fresh.

good contemporary country rock. I would have to say this is very radio friendly and could be a top 40 hit. imho.

Congratulations EJ & Ivony
Ivony, I think your Daddy is trying to tell you something girl. Listen to him.

A beautiful tribute to the pure love between a Father and his Daughter. Excellent production with clean back track and a tight mix John. You an be proud of her and this song you did for her. Mr. Parker, Kudos to you for a fine job on the vocal, it is excellent. You can both be very proud of this one my friends.

Be well and be cool,

Ed

Thanks for the encouragement
I agree. John Parker did an excellent job. I just wonder what happened to him, I hope it wasn't Hurricane Ike.

Go Johnny Go!
Lovely country-rock ballad! And like the Vicar said, VERY "radio friendly."

You really bare your proud-father-heart herein John. Lead guitar soloing is full of that heart as is the singing...

Bravo and encore!

Be well bro!

PickQuickRecords said 99 days ago
Congrats!
The production is off the hook as always. The solo is soaring! Gave me goose bumps. The lyrics were very heart felt to say the least. Very touching. This song has radio play written all over it. The vox are outstanding. What a great collab and subject.

VERY Impressed!

Wow, John
Great singing and playing here, and the lyrics touch my heart, too, as I have 4 daughters. I need to start getting your song notifies, this is great.:-)
