Description Davisamerica originally posted "Emma" back in June 2008 ... I have been haunted by this tune .... I always felt that Jack's vocals could be boosted a touch in this tune ... and while attempting to do so ... of course ... couldn't resist adding my own brand of "tinker" .... Emma has breathed a little laughter into another of Davisamerica's tunes .. which gave her a new dimension ... I can only hope that I have managed to "Bring Emma to Life" once again in this version.
Lyrics Emma is sleeping - But I will not wake her
Will not tell her -The things that I know
So close now - What is she dreaming
Her eyes move about - All the places she goes

My love - Emma my darling
You say - I worry you still
I think - You are mistaken
Emma - Who did you kill?

Emma in back doors - In alleys and places
I follow behind - keep her concealed

How did it happen – that she's come this far from
The Emma who loved me - Who touched and could feel?

My love - Emma my darling
You say - I worry you still
I think - You are mistaken - Emma

.... it's ok ... you can sleep

Some early morning - They're going to find you
I'll have my head turned - And you'll be gone
In the meantime - I'll follow you closely
To see you are safe - I know this is wrong

My love - Emma my darling
You say - I worry you still
I think - You are mistaken
Emma
....awake .... Emma are you awake?

Jack's song blew me away.
Like the boost. I like the doubling and whispering. Makes it more eerie. I can see this performed by a couple of interpretive dancers on a half-lit stage. Super sexy, girl. Love it. Thanks.

Alannah said 110 days ago
yes ....
.. the original of this tune blew me away too .. which is why I couldnt keep my little paws off of it ..... Emma will haunt me always now .... thanks for the listen and comment Char ! You da best!

Psycho Waltz
Great vibe.. slightly haunted... with deliciously doubled vox at the apex of the piece. Love in the vacated copse... where only the shadows cling and the promise of a new day jars with the utterance of new promises. I am mistaken... I Listened, loved...and am mistaken!

Psycho Waltz ....
... I seem to be an addict to `haunting`things ... and am always trying to get that sound ..... glad to hear I am not the only one haunted by Emma! thanks for the listen and comment.

Excellent
If you guys have ever heard the band Bongwater, well, that is what this reminds me of. Hauntingly beautiful and poetic. Good job!

Alannah said 110 days ago

this
is really great, kind of creepy in an innocent way. like a freaky little kid. i love it. you guys sound great together, and this song is just HAUNTING. really nice touches all over and the melody is really nice. there's a "band" called Peter and the Wolf that you guys should check out, kind of gothic folk with male/female vox. great job.

Alannah said 110 days ago
oh right .....
.. I had forgot about Peter and the Wolf ... I must revisit some of their stuff ... I do believe I used to listen to they way way back in the day ..... thanks for being haunted .... Emma haunts me too!

Skean said 110 days ago

right then lady ....
love the add ins and production flourishes. Very cool and haunting vox there. also ... did I hear Cassandra at the end there? thanks for taking this one on Alannah. Well done indeed !!

Alannah said 110 days ago
... right then ....
.... you should be the one being thanked for bringing Emma to the arena .... and yes Cassandra was also there ... I`m wondering if Cassandra should be a little like Alfred Hitchcock and maybe make a little appearance in every post from now on .....

Haunting
This such a fantastic piece of work.

My greatest compliment: I'm jealous.

Dave

Alannah said 110 days ago
jealous ....
... jealous ... naw there is enough haunting Emma for everyone .... feel the haunt ... embrace the haunt .. thanks Lava for your kind comments ... all the credit goes to Davisamerica for bringing Emma to the arena in the first place .... I just helped her play her haunting games ....

Very cool!
Reminds me of Leonard Cohen mashed up with Tim Burton. Like the echoes. nice!

Alannah said 109 days ago
Leonard Cohen and Tim Burton ...
... yes .... you have captured it perfectly ..... this and all things macabre .... all that is missing perhaps is a nice little intro by Stephen King. Thanks Jim for listening and commenting.

radiorebelde said 109 days ago
wow!!
this is wonderfully haunting! it has a sweeping grandeur about it, but what a dynamite combo! everything about this track gave me goosebumps!

Alannah said 109 days ago
thanks radio ....
.. I always love it when the word "goosebumps" appears in a comment ... thanks for listening!

MarkHolbrook said 109 days ago

Outtaorbit said 109 days ago
very
spanish... i never noticed... well done

Alannah said 109 days ago
Interesting .....
... I never thought of a "Spanish sounding" angle .... I am always fascinated by how people hear a piece of music so different from each other and will have their own interpretation of it .... I will have to try and listen again to see if I can hear what you heard ...

I really like your additions here
They are a perfect complement to the mysterious, haunting nature of the original track.

Very nicely done!! Kudos! :)

Alannah said 103 days ago
Thanks Mysti ....
... I was originally so haunted by Emma .. that I sort of felt I had to become her .... or at the very least ... add something here ... thanks for the listen and the comment !

ic42 said 103 days ago
it is a shadow
the first emma is good. this is also good. alannah adds a voice concealed behind davisamerica. it is a very good effect. this makes emma real. it is a strong chill on the neck. i do not wish to meet emma. it is a powerful song of twists. it is well done. 0x0

Alannah said 103 days ago
Thanks IC42 ....
.. I am also reminded of the story of Madame (Emma) Bovary .... written by the French author Gustave Flaubert - are you familiar with the work? Madame (Emma) Bovary also has many adulterous secrets .. and her husband Charles Bovary follows closely behind her wanting to know her secrets .....
