Description After so many extremely helpful comments on our previous version of this song, Carlo and I returned to the Telephone Booth where we spent many days of noodling and fine tuning this song. We must have 20 versions that have emerged since the last post. Finally, we think we have the golden egg. Thank you to those of you who helped us get to this point. Your input is invaluable.
Lyrics SPECTATOR LENS

YOU THINK THEY’RE LOOKING AT YOU,

THEY’RE NOT LOOKING AT YOU.

WELL, MAYBE THEY’RE LOOKING AT YOU,

WITH CYCLOPS EYEGLASS RED

GONE CUCKOO, GONE CRACKERS.

GONE CUCKOO, GONE CRACKERS.

CH] SPECTATOR LENS, SHOOTING FOOTAGE

FOR THE CAMERAHEAD;

BUT THEN AGAIN, SOMEBODY SOMEWHERE

MUST BE WATCHING

YOU THINK THEY’RE LOOKING AT YOU,

THEY’RE NOT LOOKING AT YOU.

WELL, MAYBE THEY’RE LOOKING AT YOU,

WITH CYCLOPS EYEGLASS RED

IT’S A STADIUM FILLED WITH EMPTY SEATS,

A MONUMENT OF MUTE CONCRETE.

CH] SPECTATOR LENS, SHOOTING FOOTAGE

FOR THE CAMERAHEAD;

BUT THEN AGAIN, SOMEBODY SOMEWHERE

MUST BE WATCHING

br/solo]

WE ARE REDUCED BY THE EYE,

DON’T NEED NO FILM ANYMORE.

IGNORANT OF CONSENT TO

BROADCAST ALL THE TIME—

IT DEADENS THE SENSES OR

BROADENS CONSCIOUSNESS?

WHO KNOWS THE CONCLUSION

OF THIS EXPERIMENT?

WHO CARES?

WHO CARES?

CH] SPECTATOR LENS, SHOOTING FOOTAGE

FOR THE CAMERAHEAD;

BUT THEN AGAIN, SOMEBODY SOMEWHERE

MUST BE WATCHING

Deja vu all over again....
I almost thought I was time warped back to the CBGB's challenge. Very raw, very underground and very much fun. Loved it.

CBGB's Challenge
That was the best ever!!

Picks from credit cards
Oh I know so well! The studded belt did you use any dip ith those wips I still love the crazy synth in the background like I siad before this pushes on higher ground settin a standard. the clean guitar betrays because they are not so clean. Dirty dirty and the vocal delivery rocks. Im gonna have to listen to the old version but the git sounds more distorted and the drums more controled. Just good to listen again!

Picks From Credit Cards
Thanks for listening again Tim. We really tried to crank it up on the production side without losing the gritty integrity of our original version.

Maybe we'll hook up on the 19th

Drums
Thanks Feter. We tinkered with everything for about a week so it's great to hear that the sounds were noticed. Drums were part of the issue.

Carlo has a cool voice, doesn't he?

Thanks man!

spectacular
This has everything it should have: it's tense, intense, packed with action and ideas. And most of all: it's highly orginal.

This coupled with egobandit's "social insecurity" Would make a great split single of paranod experimental rockers.

five_extra_arms said 111 days ago
B-Sides
Now that you mention it, it would be a perfect combo. It's my favorite egobandit song.

And cj - thanks again for all the feedback on this tune. It was very helpful as you will notice I agreed with many of your suggestions.

lengold said 112 days ago
This is superb!
This mix sounds great Bob - the bass really lifts it. Love this song and downloaded.
Cheers
Len

Bass Lifts
Thanks Spectator Lengold.

A download is the next best thing to being there.

Entertaining Keywords
Cool juxtaposition of sparse guitar, punky goodness and background electronica. Drums are clean and original.

Clean and Original
I used to be a juxtaposer back when punk was the new black.

Thanks Pete!

Brilliant
The bass that comes in around 3:00 is absolutely brilliant. I thought you'd have trouble improving on the original, but you guys definitely pulled it off.

five_extra_arms said 111 days ago
3:00
Thanks E,

I was hoping you'd say that!

You rock man!

BossHook said 112 days ago
Great
power pop sensibilities on this tune. You remind me of a friend gone who made a pretty big splash with his band Material Issue.

five_extra_arms said 111 days ago
Valerie Loves Me
This was one of Carlo's personal favorites back in the early 90's when it came out. He claims he can hear that song to this day in his head at will.

Thanks for mentioning it!

nice
This is very good... Groovy song... The synth (or efx) sound really good.

five_extra_arms said 111 days ago
Groovy Synths
We aim to please in the synth dept. Thanks for your approval!

Vic Holman said 111 days ago
so that's where my credit cards went
did you charge on them before cutting them up?

am I gonna get a bill for a lot of studded belts?

I'm sure you two put a lot of time in this. really sounds way better. Also dug the shifts as it goes along. like bringing in the Ratt pedal later in the show for example. some nice changes without being too obvious.

And true your patented secret on your synths is still a secret.... until someone asks.

tempie said 111 days ago
If Frank Black wrote a Fugazi song for the Dead Milkmen...i...
it would sound like this. Very cool. Love how the chord progressions totter on dischord but always stay this side of pop so that the tune, while disjointed, has a great groove. Punk Rock Girl would dance to this tune all night.

PS: The timpani rocks. Instant Brian Wilson.

lavalamp said 111 days ago
Adequate
Vic told me the secret.

You rock adequately.

yousendit
Hey Ridd,

I just emailed you the GB file with yousendit. The secret to the timpani sound is now yours to exploit!

Thanks for your interest AND support on this Telephone Booth project.

Anyone else want the file? I'm happy to share.
