Description here is my take on my song writing. every line that is in the song is true but as a whole the story is a collage
Lyrics when i was 18 i took in a runaway
she crawled into my bed on the 7th day
i played her music and i cooked her food
i did everything i thought i should
i let her sleep late and i paid her way
then her dad showed up one day

well it ended on the greatest note
it was winter and she had a coat
well she had grown up she had grown up fast
she could say with out crying nothing ever lasts
she seems like a dream to me
did that really happen

the stones are on the radio
down stairs to mikes i just want to go
find that water bed and sink right in
begin to begin again

for fear of choking on you
for fear of something new
but it stands me on my end
it tears me apart and pushes me away
i hope that i will bend i hope that i will bend
you know that i have been mistaken ive been down on my knees
but i never have forsaken
all that has been given to me

i heard my exwife talking to my neighbor
about her new boy friend
she said she is so used to taking care of others
he is taken care of me instead
i felt a little funny
cause i knew she was talking about me
thats not the way i remember it
no i dont remember it to be that way
every body said i should be out on my own'
i cry you a river avery time i sleep alone
i look at my feet in the morning
and wonder where they are bound
i should be picking flowers
i should be gaining ground
i should be gaining ground
i should be gaining ground

Good one Tim!
I like the way this has been put together - touches of John Mellencamp. Interesting lyrics and really good instrumentation/vocals. The tambourine got away a little there when you slowed the rest of the song (around 2:26), but overall, I really enjoyed this.

good song
the mix is a little too bright for me ( but who am I too talk) but that said, I love the story you're telling, and the way you're telling it. it's like a short story.

I really
think that this is a wonderfully written song. The lyrics grabbed and held me and the vocals and musicianship are excellent. Great production too.
Cheers

Honesty and real life
I love the feel, the mix, the lyrics, the pace. The looseness of the vocals is very cool but, in my ears, becomes burdensome by the end. At least some parts of the vocal doubling and harmony should be a little tighter, I think, in order for it to translate better, for the lyrics to be clearer, etc. Nice track.

Gaining Ground
Tim I sincerely love your style and your approach to your craft.Overall enjoyed the post but I have to agree with Tobin that the vocal work though initially gratifying becomes burdensome on the ears after a time.

Blessings,

Oh Wow!!
Those first two verses come straight out of my experience!! I too took in a runaway when I was 20! Interesting how our experiences parallel. The relationship ended when her dad showed up because she mistakenly put a gas can full of motor oil into the gas tank of her dad's jeep. Boy, he was none to happy about his 4 wheeler, but seemed glad he finally found his daughter! Hmmm, I might have to follow your lead and turn this story into a song.

I enjoyed your vocal flavoring and style. And I like the music too. Nice stuff! Much enjoyed. My wife listened in on this song and her comments about it were in line with Tobin and Godchaser....but now worries...she's not a MacJammer. She's more of a PC Slammer.

Thanks for sharing!
