Description This is an old 4-track recording that I'm posting for a bit of fun. It's an environmental song that I wrote for a Renaissance festival many years ago - and I laid down multiple tracks with recorders, mandolins, tamborines, etc. I tried to clean it up - but the production is still a touch shoddy. My harmonies are not up to Dirigent standards - or the sumptuous folk recordings of Rebsie. Enjoy nonetheless!
Lyrics Under Tree

Under tree where squirrels are dining
There I sit and think only of you
High above the birds are all chiming
Fluted sighs, their love songs anew

Golden deer now subtly darting
Out of my view and into the morn
Beast and man, our day’s just a starting
Sun now aloft, the canopies warm.

But to my heart sadness is ringing
Dying earth, oh what have we done?
For we are to our bad ways a clinging
Mother dear, we destroy you for fun

What to do, a penchant for mending
What to say, I’m your guilty son
How to speak, a message for sending
How to win, win everyone

Under tree, I’m composing a new
Nature dear, a new love song for you

Oh, my like a minstrel
in the middle ages got crossed with a tree hugger from the 80s. A troubador, for sure. It is delightful singing with a thoughtful message. Neat. Thanks.

4-track fest
Woofer 3 just posted a 4-track recording. It has a distant sound. Does, sound like Feter would dig this a lot.

Nice job. Cool that you posted this.

Cheers Dave...
You were one of the first people to comment on my tunes - so glad you still take the time to listen.

Cool
I like this. Nice performances - harmonies sound good to me - and the recording quality kind of gives it a ghostly feeling (the distance lavalamp mentions, perhaps?). Very cool. Have you thought about re-recording it? It's certainly a good song. Nicely done. Peace.

LunaTrick said 124 days ago
Very kind...
Love to re-record it - with help from some MJ friends!

Rebsie said 129 days ago
Ooh, I get a name check, thanks
This is gorgeous, despite the low-fi recording. Well you know me, I ain't proud about audio quality at the best of times. The character comes shining through and so does the beautiful melody. As others have said, you could make a brilliant reworking of this.

Did you play that mandolin? It's lovely.

LunaTrick said 124 days ago
Oh Ta Rebsie...
I'd be more interested in re-doing it with some help (hint hint!)

Hi
This is really nice and I love it (even with the tape noise)!

LunaTrick said 124 days ago
Thanks Steve...
I normally wouldn't upload something this lo-fi - but I'm trying to get in with the true Renaissance crowd on MJ!
