Description I haven't been making much music lately. But that hasn't stopped me from putting together collections of sounds into other-than-music. I'm in a real phase of craziness about my creativity... maybe I can channel it back into music soon. Until then, here's Other.

Love this!
David,

I want to know how to protect myself from an atomic bomb - I think it's very poor form that you started out making us think that we could be protected from an a-bomb and that we were going to find out how .................... and then went and had fun :)

Some excellent clips in here, beautifully put together.

I was wondering where you'd been.

Cheers from Oz,
Neil

Neil
Thanks, man! I'm glad you can appreciate this collage.

Sorry about omitting the important details about how to protect yourself from an atomic bomb. If I remember correctly, diving under your picnic blanket might be sufficient.

I've been away from music, is where I've been... in Hawaii and New York, and recently very very unwell and unable to focus (my health has mostly returned). Once I get serious about music, you'll see me here again :)

Thanks, Neil

Too cool!

Aye aye, Sir!
"I haven't been making much music lately."
Isn't that music?? Maybe "just" mixing, but that sounds like a nice track to me!
Congrats :)

Karmatoburn said 134 days ago
file me
stamped & numbered entertained. Where did you get those clips? Outrageously cool bass and drum. all around groovy ala propellerheads.

perceptualvortex said 133 days ago
Thanks John!
Those clips are great, aren't they? I've just been sort of collecting sound bites for a long time, whenever I find ones I like. I have a lot of old atomic test movies which are a great source of them (you can buy those from the DOE). I'm glad you dig this, thanks!

sloparts said 134 days ago
Strange,
but effective. Very cool sounds from the past that tend to haunt the memory of us old folks. Love the Bass & Drum backtrack. very well played and a great feel to it.

Cool use of clips my friend, very cool indeed,

Be well and be cool,

Ed

Diviner said 133 days ago
Really good track
Love all the samples they mix with the track really well esp the 'I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered'. Love the funk as well, the track reminds me of Coldcut etc with all the samples. Well done, really liked it.

springclock said 133 days ago
oh man
this fits perfectly with that "Matrix and 911" thread I started lol.... as always great production..... always a joy to hear how you get things bouncing and moving.... very layered but everything is very well placed.... I really love the choice samples.... and YES!!! you got one from TOP SECRET.... one of the funniest films ever!!

cool track, and fantastic bass line.... very bouyant indeed..... thanks for sharing bro

peace and future....Ian

Great sounds, and excellent mixing of different elements to create something humorous, groovy and head-boppin'! Very cool. I'm with Feter - I'd love to see the video! Nicely done. Peace.

"....head warmongers, please "

Anyway, this so much reminds me of 5th element (one of my favorite movies). I don't think that was the message, but the cadence is right.

Great stuff David

5th Element
Hey, that's one of my favorite movies too!

Thanks, Harold

Vic Holman said 131 days ago
awesome Dave
the tune is awesomely arranged. plus the looped voices really top the cake. all it's missing is the stenciled art under the freeway overpass :)

Check out the album "Playing With Scratches" by Ruckus Roboticus, which this reminds me of. Here's a link: http://www.emusic.com/album/Ruckus-Roboticus-Playing-With-Scratches-MP3-Download/11149389.html

Short circuit?
I think I recognize a quote or two.

Very playful. This was fun to listen to. The clock may be ticking, but we keep a smile about it.

BoiAfrica said 127 days ago
WOW!!!
The rhythm in this is undeniable, steady, funky, juiciness, it reminds me of someone like K-Os, very detailed. The breakdown with the hi-hat at the end is amazing - "What is YOUR job?" - brilliant! Thanks for an awesome share!!! Very smart! This definitely needs a video. I would totally volunteer my services, especially if you are inclined to make it with that lovely "liberal bias" LOL See here: http://www.youtube.com/user/BlacklineTV

Hey thanks man, I'm glad you dig this! Nice youtube channel. You are totally welcome to use this as a soundtrack for a video, preferably with a lot of 'liberal bias' :-) I like the way you skewered Ferraro.

I find that atomic bombing helps...

Anarchy!
Yeah, yeah, serious TLC has gone into this one. High interest measure to measure. Nice collab with... the 20th century!

"I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, briefed, debriefed or numbered" ... wow, that just hits the spot.

The whole vibe reminds me of an audio version of those late 70-s/early 80s anarchist punk print collages that have roots in earlier underfround movements (as chronicled well in the book, "Lipstick Traces: A Secret History of the Twentieth Century," at http://www.hup.harvard.edu/catalog/MARLIP.html and Amazon.)

Char said 97 days ago
I liked it.
But, I couldn't explain to anyone why. I laughed at the end.
It was kind of like Terry Gilliam's big cartoon foot just coming down and stopping everything short. Thanks.
