Description Sometimes just playing is enough. A piano man singing to himself.... pops and hiss included. Sometimes love is hard to give.
Lyrics Not Like Me

How did it become so damn easy to learn how to win
To learn how to close your eyes and pretend
That it doesn't really matter if you push them down
They would have fallen soon anyway
They are weak and a nuisance
They are not like me
What more can I say?
They make it so easy to see what they are
They are damaged and forfeit
They need to be put in a jar
Labeled and packaged and put away
It's all for the best anyone would say
The space can be filled
They will not be missed
And life will be better because of this

How did I learn that they don't feel pain
That they don't need love
That they arn't the same
As I am
You can surely see ...
They are not like me

Wow, Jack
What a great song, short, yet full of meaning! Thank you for sharing your feelings with us. This is so heartfelt and honest. We all know people we'd like to jar, if not permanently, at least for a year or two.

wow
roxy ... thanks ... just talking to myself

gail60 said 136 days ago
wonderful song
I agree with Roxylee. This is full of meaning and gets to the point of treating others like you want to be treated without all the wasteful push and shove. I get so tired of people thinking they can do whatever they want to others - regardless of how bad it hurts. I really enjoyed this alot and loved the meaning behind it. You are a good soul! I love your voice Jack, very fitting and just perfect. Let's go postal shall we??? :)

Outstanding
Great lyrics, filled with thought-provoking ideas, and nicely expressed. Lovely vocal performance; your voice is rich and warm, and filled with pathos. Lovely melody, and perfect in its support for the sentiment. This is a great song, and you've performed it brilliantly. How do you find the time?! Kudos, my friend. Peace.

PLEASE !!! teach me how to write such great and thoughtful comments .. wow

MyFakeIdentity said 135 days ago
humble
I like how the narrator's perspective dances on the edge of elitism, yet it also retains a sense of remorse at the apparent loss of one's own humanity. And yet, ironically enough, it belies the fact that the narrator is in fact very, very human indeed.

What a cool way to point out how we all hold a certain sense of being better than everyone else, even though we have been taught that it's a sinful thing to do.

You humble me.

davisamerica said 135 days ago
no ...
my friend i am humbled by your comments and attention ... thank you :-]

Very thought provoking Jack
That's kind of backing into the subject Jack, but it works. It gets the message across without beating people over the head with platitudes and words of wisdom.

Short and to the point in an oblique sort of way. Nice job my friend, very nice indeed.

Be well and be cool,

Ed

So many
people in the world with just that attitude and you've put it in a nutshell. Love the 'casual' sounding performance, giving the feel of the way a lot of us get 'tuned in', in quiet moments at the end of the day, regards M

it is a poignant introspection. it is important to think about how to treat others. and see how it affects us. sometimes that face in the jar, is a reflection. it is a painful thought. however, it must be sung, and thought about. it is a beautiful voice and thought. thank you. 0x0

Sometimes, it's nice to a song with just a guitar or a piano. Nice tune, my friend. Very good lyrics. "They" are always different from me, too.

Good one.

Hold on
I'm sitting in a cafe, listening to this, so at first I didn't catch on that the saucer-and-spoon sounds came from your track. Cute.

Love this song
Jack - you are so prolific and everything sounds like a long time has been spent on them.
This is such a beautiful song that works perfectly with just the keys and your spot on vocals oozing emotion. I hope you don't mind and you take it as a compliment but it reminds me a bit of those fantastic Kermit songs.
Glad I didn't miss this.
Cheers
Len
