Description Its been over two years since the first version of this came out. I made a lot of changes, but I did keep some of the original tracks also. Let me know if I learned anything in the last two years. Still struggling with the percussion, any suggestions are more than welcome.

If you missed it the original can be found here:

O yeah ...I m always in love with your keys work ...
man no enough of that ...would love to see a Mjer
bassist deal with it ..nice blues track ..with the
switch of jazzy part with the flutes and all ...Kudos
and thnx alot for sharin !!!!!

Feter
Glad you like the switches. Live bass would be super. I'll be hangin' around so slowly but surely you'll get your wish.

Listened to both Bill,
and I like this one much better than the original. This is a much more intricate mix of sounds that fit the mood better. I did notice a few places where you went from a minor to major key on this which sounded out of place a little to my ears.

Your keyboard work is very cool and this is a great track my friend, now if we can just get you a bass player and a drummer to round it out, you've got a killer track.

Thanks for sharing

Be well and be cool,

Ed

Ed
I'll give the key shift some serious thought, its there to mix it up, but I don't want it to be jarring. Bass and drums would be great! Maybe someday.

TEXASFEEL said 138 days ago
Much improved
I believe like most other MJ'ers, through time spent on this site improvement is evident. I was happy to hear the bass updated and helped to glue all the elements together. Sounds like you went back and cleaned up some loose ends on your keyboards and the middle eight really adds to the composition relieving some of the repetition. I would still like to hear a busier drum track, that may be a personal preference. Great to hear this evolve, your quite the musician.

Thanks for all the suggestions, they have been very helpful. I would also like to hear busier drums, but I haven't been able to learn enough drum programming to do it well, yet. I still hear room for improvement, but it is good to know this is better than the first try.

I really...
...like this number and your mix of it. It has a style and flavor that is very engaging even though primarily in a minor mode... Ah, I hear that section in major...hummm...didn't fit well. Nice keyboard work throughout. Would you consider a sax in exchange for the flute line? Seems like it would be a little more characteristic of the general style...The CODA is way cool. You really get into the groove here...Is there MORE reverb in this section of the mix? Sounds a little brighter to me. Be sure you're consistent throughout.
This is a cool track and very enjoyable to listen to. Hope the thoughts/comments help.
Peace.

Paul
Thanks for the helpful and candid commentary. I could definitely try a sax instead of the flute. The coda electric piano and organ are actually different, the reverb is the same. They could be too similar or maybe they should have been the same, easy to try in GarageBand, I don't think I will post all the possible iterations though :)

Glad you liked the tune. Maybe I could slide it over to the soul category.

very nice indeed. The bass come in a bit too loud at the start. Good vibes, peaceful.

Thanks for the close listen, there is room for adjustment on a few of the instrument volumes.

Ha ha!
Oh yeah...I remember the original Bill. It's fun to go back and upgrade once in awhile, huh?

Nice job here. The new changes work well. Only it's like you said to Ed: "Bass and drums would be great!"

Be well friend!

Definitely enjoy going back. And its most satisfying if a few new tricks can be added. Don't want to be thought of as an old dog!

THE BRIGHTER SIDE
CLARITY
Good Soundstage and Dynamics.
Love the Bass and the emphatic Outro.

Nice Drive and Rhythm Section.
Percussion doesn't present a problem for me,
Though, we all should have BFD, EZ or the like to allow the KIT to contribute fully.

Now, on to the Original.

Compliments,
Cooper

rtcooper said 133 days ago
TONE AND MANNER
WHILE More in the Jazz Realm, I recommend another Go with the Original.
JUST replacing the KIT with a bit of Swing to it.

The Tone and Manner of the Original is oriented differently, but asks more open-ended questions, musically for me, and has Very Cool attitude.

Different, but Quite Cool.

Compliments,
Cooper

I guess one of those drum programs will have to be my next virtual instrument acquisition. Seems like I am bumping up against the limits of the drum kits I have in Garageband. Glad you enjoyed both versions.

This has terrific
rhythm. LIke the walking the steps funky feel. Sorry, I can't come up with the exact words. This has really nice funk feel and done with not too much loudness. Enjoy especially when you add the piano in parts, it really seems to shine there alot! Also towards the end with the funky organ sounds.

Thanks for sharing and taking the time out to upload this!

peacepiano said 118 days ago
Thetiller
Especially enjoyed your comments about the rhythm because the whole song is built up from the bass beat.

Cool!
I really like the feel this one has. I never heard the first one but this has a laid back vibe I'm really diggin'. I love the way all of the elements work together. Fine piece of work. I like the "brush" quality of the snare, but one suggestion. Maybe a "snap" here and there would give it what your looking for without having to remove the track and starting from scratch.

Besides that, I really like what you did so far. I can't wait to hear more.

Good job! Very smooth.

Good to hear from you. I will be experimenting with ways to make my percussion efforts more effective, so your suggestion will come in handy.
