Description If you listened to my last song, I wrote about how I’m going through a divorce. A very fertile subject for songwriting. I’m going to go all Elvis Costello “Blood & Chocolate” and write an entire record about my divorce. This is the first song I’ve written/recorded in my new place, which has an extra office space that I’ve set up as a studio. I’d take a picture of it but my ex has the digital camera.
Lyrics Go out and stay out all night
Go out and hide the body
Go out and stay out, that’s right
And dig the grave around me
A monument to money

All the signs say, “Goodbye,” but we say, “Anymore?”

Criticize a dark cell
Because it isn’t locking
Common complications
We are uncompromising
Buried underneath us
A skeleton of raw meat
Maybe it will grow now
Into a soul worth our needs

All the signs say, “Goodbye,” but we say, “Anymore?”
I don’t want to be the one who says goodbye to my own daughter
Hardware Macbook, Squier Strat, SG bass, Simmons SD7K
Software: LE 8

Sorry to hear about
the divorce. Hopefully it turns up some good music creation. Sad it has to come from that though.

This is a nice piece. Love the ahhh chorus... Very clean!

Good sounds in this.

Thanks
It came from a dark place, but made me anything but sad putting it together. Actually some of the darker lyrics made me amused. But that's me.

Speaking of divorces and cameras...
...run right out and get the original version of Richard Shindell's 'Are You Happy Now?' You won't regret it...

Lovely guitar pop sound and vocals...

I'm sorry to hear about the divorce, though... A hard thing to go through...

I checked out
that song. Nice. It's funny because the second song on "Blood and Chocolate" is called "I hope you're happy now," which is pretty much what I was going for, that sort of pop anger.

wow - change/transition/loss - so hard. This song kind of says it all - great tune, vocals and really love your lyrics. Hang in there!

awsome instrumental on this. really like the intro. vocals get quiet at some points but i sort of like that. a sort of haunting feel to it. though perhaps a little too over powered. i think it's mostly the chorus part that sounds a bit over powered.

I like it
it is a tense, intense song. I like the way the guitars have a dialogue (or a duel). Good lines, too (the ones that sink deep). I just find that the handclaps distract more than they add, but you know better than me, since it's your song and not mine.

music heals
some situations inspire some great tunes.... unfortunately

I like those dissonant guitar lines. those are great. backing vocals are also a nice touch. I really like this tune!
