When you say live drums... do you mean you have a set and you mic and record them or you "play" them on a midi keyboard? Either way they are nicely done! |

Drums for hire Great song. Only thing: last second gets clipped off, no reverb tail, added click. Maybe due to bouncing. Do you hire out for your drumming? If so, please email me. |

Love the playing Call me old fashioned, but jeeze this is LOUD! The "light" sections were something of a relief. Great drums and everything sounds to me like it might sound in a live concert situation. The crash cymbal seems a little undefined to these ears (each crash blending into and interfering with the impact of the next), but maybe that's what you were after. I'm so envious that you can play the drums live - maybe I should seek spouse permission for a drum kit ;) Good song, maybe my ears are the problem. Cheers, Neil |

Drum sounds How are you miking the drums? Also from a process standpoint - how do you work through all of this? I've been starting with a loop and then typically doing a one mic acoustic guitar/vox take and recording everything else over that and then dropping the loop. Overall - the whole song is so 3D. I'm really digging it. |

Very VERY HOT!!! This is a great song from all perspectives. I was becoming somewhat disenchanted with the whole "music scene" per say, until I discovered your music Ian. Artists like yourself inspire me to look at how I write, in a different way. I have spent most of my musical life writing to please others, and it shows in the songs I have currently posted. I listen to something like this and I immediately start hearing what my new catalogue might sound like once I am comfortable with how to record it. Artists like you are keeping music alive and evolving. This is such a Springclock tune, uniquely yours, and very well written, performed and produced. |

- your usual greatness, ian. the clincher in this one is the bass line... 'specially during the verses. great playing all around. i WISH i had real drums... but in an apartment building, not gonna happen. it would force me to practise and get better, though. anyway, well done. actually, checked out the pic of the kit on your site. nice! surprised you're not getting more phasing with all those windows and the closeness of the overheads to each other. but, hey, whatever you are doing... it's working! is that in your home? |
