Thanks E-Frame The fact that is a song at all kind of amazes me since I wasn't even working on one when I started out. Just wanted to see how the new/old flat top box sounded. Thank you Mark Maybe I ought to get me a XBox 360 and Guitar Hero and see what I can do with that. Nah, too much money and not enough results. ;-) And to think this just started out as a test of a mic recording an acoustic guitar. Who-da thunk it. 	Thanks Bill Well that's really what it is, a studio jam. I was testing an old mic and recorded my new/old Fended F35 flat top just to see how it would sound. Sounded pretty good, so I added a bass line and some drums to it. Before long, this song emerged. Thanks for dropping in and listening Bill, I do appreciate it, as well as the kind words. Thanks Guy I used a very light touch of flanger, some reverb, and a light touch of delay on the vocal. Maybe it's a bit too much when combined together. It sounded okay to my ears, but then again, we know about how my ears don't work as good as they should on fine detail like that. Thanks for pointing out that I left the Ibanez off the list of equipment, I didn't even realize I had done that. I have since fixed that so it now shows up on the list. I think the panning on the acoustic was a happy accident. I moved it from one side to the other while I had the touch automation on in Logic so it followed it automatically when I played it back. I probably did that just so it wouldn't interfere with the organ, but it was such an automatic thing I don't even remember doing it. (ahh yes, another Senior moment) Thanks for all the feedback and comments Guy, they are, of course, very much appreciated. I'm glad you liked the song and the way it came out. Thanks Joe The acoustic is in there, but it's not up in the mix all the time. I guess the best place to hear it is in the second verse, there's a little less going on there in the first couple of lines. It's subtle because the whole acoustic rhythm is pretty laid back compared to the rest of the tracks. This whole song is a happy accident, but I'll take it. It only exist because I wanted to test a mic and the acoustic together. Glad you liked the track my friend. Thanks for the cool comments on it and coming over to listen. Always great to see you here. Thanks Neil Okay now on the keys. The organ is all loops which I reworked and spliced together the way I wanted them. The Guitar leads are split, some are me some are loops which I cut up and put back together in different ways, and the acoustic rhythm guitar is all me. Of course the drums and bass are loops, but I did some splicing and dicing on them as well, especially the drums. It's all just bits and pieces thrown together to make up the song, all except my guitar parts and the acoustic rhythm guitar. Although I didn't play all the parts, all the way through, and I used to do that all the time years ago, I'm still quite happy with the overall sound of it and the way it turned out. And since I don't know any musicians in this area I use the tools I have to try and make it as good as I can. Anyway, thanks again for stopping in to listen Neil, I really do appreciate any comments or suggestion you leave for me, and especially the kind words when you find something you like about a song of mine. Eduard Not a criticism re the loops, was just unsure. Pros use session musos for most backing tracks, and I can't really see much difference between that and people like you and me using loops for some backup. One of the things with loops though is that it's often hard to make them sound "different" and to make them fit into a song. The fact that I was unsure means you did a good job of it. Cheers, Neil

Thanks Neil I didn't take it as a criticism my friend, so no worries. The thing is I put this together so fast I'd almost have to go back through it to figure out what's mine and what's loops, at least in some places in the mix. I'd say that probably half of the lead parts are loops, especially in the play out, I used a lot of loops there on the guitar parts. But instead of just grabbing a loop and throwing into the mix, I'd cut it up an only use part of the loop and mix it with part of a different loop. That way it's more like 2 guitar played trading licks back and forth, and the loop is no longer just the standard loop everyone knows. There were also some places where the bass line would play in the proper key for that section of the song, but didn't have a lead in to the next part, so I'd go into the midi file and change it so the transition from one change to the next would be smooth and sound like it was a bass player and not a loop. I did the same thing in places with the organ parts as well as mixing it up with a lot of different loops and cuts. After I posted my first couple of loop songs, I realized that everyone who'd been doing this before me had either, already used the loops, or already heard someone else use them. When I realized that I decided I needed to be a little more creative in the way I used loops or else my songs would just sound like a rehash of the loops we all have. So I started looking for ways to mix and match as it were to get a slightly different sound. I'm quite sure all you old timers have been doing it like that a lot longer than I have, simply because you've been using GB and Logic and the other programs that have this capability longer than I. At least when you use loops and don't play a particular part live. I've only been using loops since October of last year, so it's all brand new to me. The first song I did using loops was "Funk daFunk" closely followed by "Funky World of daFunk". Up until then I had know idea what a loop was because I'd never seen them before. I'd heard of them for years, but not seen or used them ever. Anyway Neil, I'm really glad you listen, enjoyed, and were confused by this song. Thanks Russ I'd never tried doing a Chicago Blues type song before, and this one just came about because of a happy accident. But it really doesn't matter where it came from, just that people enjoyed it. That's the whole point to doing music is to entertain people and make them think. And now the translation for the rest of the country As they say in Chicago, you have the right tempo played the right way for the kind of music that is frequently played in a local establishment known as "The New Checkerboard Lounge", and "The Chicago B.L.U.E.S", as well as another establishment known as the "Kingston Mines". And yes this music has a very authentic sound for the type of music commonly referred to as "Chicago Blues". I have to admit I miss being in the Chicago area and being able to listen to the wonderful sound of that type of music in it's native environment my friend. Very nice playing of the lead parts with an electric guitar, and the new Yamaha synthesizer sounds have a clarity which resonates with total accuracy. Also I would like to add that the demonstration of your playing skills is very impressive, as it your obvious skill as a person working in the roll of music producer. I hope my translation is of some use to those of you who were having a difficult time understanding the vernacular commonly used in the Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A. area, in particular among the personages who frequent the local Blues Music establishments. I haven't been in that part of the country since 1990 or there abouts, and I lost track of all the old haunts we used to go to in the 60's and 70's. Thanks Rad Glad you like the track my friend, and sent along some kind words about it. If you read the intro, you'll realize his song was a happy accident born out of an experiment with a flat top box and an old condenser mike that hadn't been working for years. I took it apart, tweaked it some, replaced the battery after I beat the old one out and cleaned up all the corrosion, and viola, it worked like a champ. After I got the mike fixed and had recorded a couple of track, the song just took on a life of it's own. I'm so glad it did, because I'm really happy with the way it turned out.. Thanks Vic Yeah I kinda liked the sound of that one too. It's just in there doing that B3 thing like nothing else can. I don't know if you noticed that this whole song came about more by accident than by design. Iy just fell together over the period of about a day and I love how it came out. Thank you Char Well you tell Mark or who ever, I said thanks for sending you over to hear the band. you're right about me having a good time with this one, cause I really was. The song grew out of a Guitar and Mic testing session I was doing. I liked the way the acoustic sounded so I started adding stuff to it. Next thing, I'm throwing some lyrics at it and I end up with this. It practically wrote itself. Can't remember when I've had more fun doing a song than I did with this one.
