Description Our second song written for this side project, and the first one with lyrics! This idea was mostly Blake's. We needed a bridge, though, and I had this 3/4 riff I'd written that we squished in there somehow. Blake said to 'just record it, you'll feel it'. I was sceptical, but a couple of takes and extra beats later, it worked! So listen for the bridge at 1:05. Between that melancholy riff and Blake's synth work, it's one of the most magical things I've ever recorded!

Scott Davies:
Ac Guitar, Electric Guitar, Ebow Guitar, Production

Blake Creamer:
Vocals, Bass, Electric Guitar, Synths, Bells

Nick Yacyshyn:
Drums

Its wonderful to experience the co writing ..I can
feel how you two realy share great ideas and music
togther and thats a blessing wonderful ...ye I loved
that sync touch as a transition in the mood at 1:05 ..
at 2:45 ...bit loud there ? ..but it gives the feeling
very impressive song and work ..thnx alot for sharin !!!!

TheMeaningOfLife said 159 days ago
loud.
thanks for commenting, feter. i do love that bridge too. and the end part does definitely get loud. we were going for a 'wall of sound' kinda energy. the drums are a little annoying sounding, though, because i had very limited recording gear at the time. cheers!

yes
besides having one of the best song titles EVER, this sounds great. Yeah the 1:05 bridge is magical but it's what happens at 2:45 to the end that really works for me. Just amazing. No crits here. This is near perfect to me. Hopefully you guys'll keep writing/recording.

thanks.
thanks ridd! yeah, the end has one of those progressions that just goes where you want it. not trying to surprise anybody there. it's kinda nice, becuase one can say to themselves, 'i hope it goes there next' and then can rejoice 'yes! i knew it!' :)

a perfect compliment, thanks!

Nicely done...
You have a rich, full sound bed here enveloping your really fine vocal performance. This is choice stuff. Kudos also for really production qualities. Dang, you remind me of the Frames' Glen Hansard. Not a bad comparison, eh? Great stuff here.

Very Smooth
Great-sounding tune . Terrific vocal work, although I thought the cymbals buried them a bit at times.

How did you resist using the *bionic* SFX? ;)

bionic
thanks for the comment, joe! most of our song names have very little to do with the songs themselves. we're quirky that way. although, during the bridge near the 1 min mark, there's a patch from the microkorg doing something quasi bionic.

agreed about the cymbals. this was from a few years ago, when i had a few cheap mics, but had to mix the drums down to one stereo input into the computer... so reducing certain parts of the kit after the fact became somewhat of a challenge. good fun, though, and great learning experience.

thanks again for checking this one out!

Classy
I like the tune a lot, but it seems like the mix is oversaturated in parts, making it a little tiring to listen to. The result is that Blake's great vocal is drowned a bit. I'd suggest dropping all the instruments back a little in volume so that the vocals stand out a bit more. I'd also look at Joe's comment about the cymbals and try to pan or EQ the problem away.

saturation.
thanks for the detailed comments, neil! this song is from a few years ago and i don't have it on my current computer... but i must have a dvd backup of it somewhere. you (and other commenters) have given me some very valuable suggestions that i feel compelled to try. (especially with my new plugins and greater experience.)

now... where'd i put that backup dvd?
