Keywords Not in the mood to think up keywords tonite. (2)
Description 7-23-08.....
Hi. I just recorded this 30 minutes ago. I think the chord progression might be from something I've heard before, but I can't recall anything at the moment, so I'll post it.

I recorded it with the I-mac built-in mic and my $20 nylon string yamaha I got at a pawn shop. I'm pretty sure it's one of those one's you can get at costco. So anyways, someone put steel strings on it and pulled the top up and tilted the bridge forward and that's how I bought it. I re-strung it and it miraculously turned into a good sounding and playing guitar. So let that be a lesson to you. I don't know what that lesson is, but I'm sure you can figure something out.

The real reason I recorded this is because I was in the mood to record something.

That's all.

The effects are the GB effects called "Ambient vocals" and I tweaked the visual EQ a bit and that's that.

It almost took as long to complete this MJ song upload as it did to make up and record this song. Hmm....

P.S. Who loves the echoey sniffles at the beginning of this track?? I do!!!

thanks for listening. I'm glad you liked it.

great
Amamzing sound for what should have been a wreck of a guitar! Composition and playing are faultless to my ears but maybe the panning was a bit distracting (probably because i'm using headphones).
Great job on this
Steve

you are
a brilliant guitarist, every track i have heard of yours demonstrates this. This is no exception. Well played and made.

Elevator_Funk said 167 days ago
thank you very much
I appreciate your comments since I dig the stuff you do too! Thanks

i really like this
a lot, very nice song and you're playing is great. cheap guitars are often really cool i think, lots of character. the panning was a little distracting for me, but not a bad idea. i think i may have tried putting the guitar on 2 tracks. the first track dry, and on the second track i would put just the delay signal and the panning (cutting out the dry signal completely). that way you would get the psychedelic effect but still be able to focus on that lovely guitar. said in the spirit of the constructive criticism everyone seemed to want. really nice.

Elevator_Funk said 167 days ago
thanks
for stopping in. and I'm one of those who DO appreciate the constructive criticism. so thanks for the input. I may play with this track this weekend and see what happens when I apply your advice. I'm learning my limitations with GB, and one of those is having the patience to 'master' the track once I'm done recording.

Having bought
more than a few guitars from pawn shops it's safe to say I have yet to buy one for 20 bucks that sounds that good. Beautiful piece EF. I did one with the condenser mic on my Imac, they work pretty good for quick and easy. I hope you will take the time to make this one a full production, it is worth it. I enjoyed this piece and would have it in my itunes if it were cleaned up and fleshed out a bit. Not to sure if I like the panning back and forth, it might be more effective with some backing and a cleaner signal. Just a hacks opinion is all. Great piece of music man.

thanks for the input
Yes the guitar was supposed to be the 'beater' that i take to picnics and camping trips, but now i don't want to ruin it..... This song's growing on me. I'll hope i'll be able to re-record it if I can ever afford real recording gear. Thanks again.

Lovely melancholy guitar tune
..nice playing, the low fi vibe adds to the piece I reckon...reminds me of early Durutti Column stuff with those echoey guitar shimmers
Great

I checked out Durutti Column. I never heard of them before, it's good stuff.

oh wow
This is exactly my style. I truly love this little piece of peace. So totally what I needed to hear after getting home from work today. Can you make it about an hour long? That would be perfect. And I DO love the echoey sniffles at the beginning! Really - beautiful composition, stellar performance and I really like the effects you used. All combined to make a stellar little improv piece. Thanks for sharing this.

Guitars
I love them. Specially when it comes to make a 20$ guit to sound like this. Sensitive and moody play. Excellent !

Thanks..
Now I've got a really nice nylon string guitar too. I'll have to try this one again and compare....
