Description This track is from a live Splinter jam at Ultrasound Studio NYC 7/17/08. We had no drummer so I brought my laptop and we jammed to some basic Apple loops.

Stu - bass, LSD25 - lead scratch guitar, Bud - rhythm guitar, iBook G3 - drums (through the PA) Recorded live to Zoom H2 - imported into GB1 and edited.

On the plane out to LA I added more drum tracks and the keyed in organ part. This is an open collab. Feel free to jam along or add vocals. Become a member of Splinter - it's easy - join now.

Here's a link to the original uncut jam: http://www.sendspace.com/file/zg9ruw

Relic67 posted this great remix - Cellular Disruption Rasta-Buddha Remix - check it out.

Here's another great interpretation from HenriROGERsoloandba Cellular Disruption collab

Interesting listen
great tune, it was great you boyz got together for this, sounds like fun was had by all. Nice groove with the guitar parts with a great sound to it. well done

bud said 170 days ago
Thanks Tokai
the boyz are a lot of fun to play with - we just need a steady drummer.

lengold said 170 days ago
Great jam
bud, guitars sound awesome and I am very impressed with the drum loops you threw on it. Lovely feel.
Cheers
Len

bud said 170 days ago
The H2 is a pretty amazing little recorder
Jamming with a really minimal loop as click is fun if you remember the BPM - then you can build the drums later and make it seem like you know what you're doing. This was heavily edited from a 12 minute jam.

rsorensen said 170 days ago
i like
love this freestyle. gives me a hendrix 'rainy day' vibe - which is great! cool jam

bud said 170 days ago
I'd love to hear some hot lead on this
care to give it a go? Thanks for listening and dropping a line.

said 170 days ago
"all-night jam"
Drum loops worked well there, pal. I always wondered if someone had ever gig'd with the laptop like that.

cool beans.

. - Harold

bud said 170 days ago
Thanks Harold - cool beans is high praise
We may have to gig with a laptop if we don't get a drummer. As I said above - it's great for being able to cut and paste a song from a jam - but I miss a live skin beater.

lavalamp said 170 days ago
Dig it
That drummer has it going on. Cool jam fellows.

This is perfect for egobandit to sing.

Dave

bud said 169 days ago
Thanks Dave
yeah - I could hear Tim on this.

Rebsie said 170 days ago
Enjoyable
Well, I've gigged with an iPod. It doesn't have quite the same stage presence as real musicians, but it works.

I really like these live jams where all that creativity is just splurging out. This sounds really good and simmering with energy.

bud said 169 days ago
Splurging out -
sounds a bit messy - but I like it. Thanks for dropping by. I agree - there's nothing like living breathing backup - but I'd love a drummer who could keept tight time and never get tired too.

SmokeyVW said 169 days ago
(it seems to run too short though)
i listened to this twice before - and each time got called away...

nice jam! the live feel works great - even with the retrofitted drums. just the kind of thing i'm into: perhaps called "enhanced reality" - i call my stuff "fantasy live"

lots of fun

thanks

(it seems to run too short though)

bud said 169 days ago
There's lots more where it came from
the original live take is 12 minutes - but I figured enough was enough.
Fantsay live. I like that.

Cellular disruption
I would like to help out w/ this one, Bud....may I?

bud said 169 days ago
Absolutely you may -
drop me a note if you'd like to start from scratch and remix - or just feel free to take it from here. You can do whatever you like. Thanks for showing interest.

Vic Holman said 169 days ago
live
hey this sounds more in studio then live.

In some way it kind of reminds me a bit of CCR on some of their extended jams. sounds pretty dang good!

bud said 169 days ago
We were live in a rehearsal studio -
simple H2 stereo recording - and some doctoring in post. CCR - interesting - I can sort of get that.

davisamerica said 168 days ago
you guys.. you guys..
you just have to keep rubbing in the " we actually jam" thing doncha??? LOL .. i loved this!

bud said 168 days ago
Honestly Jack
Garageband crashed on my G5 cause I lost Quicktime somehow - so these jams are about the only thing I can do these days. They are fun though.

BTW - I got to hang with M2 in LA - what a great guy.

ageofthedeathtree said 168 days ago
jammin...
very cool bud! great jam, and nice work with the drums and keys! looks like there might just be some great musicians hoping on board this lovely lil ditty...might have to try something myself!

age

bud said 168 days ago
Love it if you did -
You can work with this or with the original jam posted above. The GB file is also available. Thanks for dropping by.

YAY!
Break out the iodine...It's another Splinter tune!

Funky stuff Bud. Great guitar work. And the tones you're getting on those keys is classic!

VERY enjoyable!

Be well!

bud said 168 days ago
Thanks Mike
The keys are just GB1 jazz organ.

peacepiano said 168 days ago
Bed
Another original sound bed. To me it sounds like a lot of the spaces are already taken, but a vocal could definitely find a place here. LIstening again I would hate to cover up the guitar. Like the sound!

Thanks
Bill

There's always more room
if it gets crowded I'll open up another wing. Please feel free to contribute - or just do your own thing with it.

You have laid out...
...a wonderful foundation for a much more extensive piece, Bud. This is very inventive and so unique to my ears. I don't know how you get all of these disparate things going from live recording to loops to airplane trips and electronic additions. I am just amazed at your ability to juggle all of these elements in such an adroit manner. I hope you find a few adventuresome composers to write more on top of this...melody-wise.
Sure was fun listening to this.
Peace.
Paul

bud said 168 days ago
Thanks Paul -
It's always so nice hearing from you. Why not lay down an improvisation and send it along as a separate track. I'm beginning to hope that this could be an experiment in blind collaboration where artists only work with the bed - but in the end are mixed with each other. So far I have a solo guitar from Vic Holman.

egobandit said 167 days ago
ya know I left ya a comment
I think It was somethin like I wish I was in the studio with you guys ! this is greatness thanks for the listen it was great almost didnt want it to end

bud said 166 days ago
It doesn't have to end -
and you can be there with us. Loop it - jam on it and post it. Be a Splinter - it's easy.

TEXASFEEL said 164 days ago
Cool sound
Really bazar in a cool kind of way. Mix turned out to be a groovy funk kind of tune. Enjoyed.

bud said 164 days ago
Nice of you to stop by John -
We don't often get funky - but it happens once in a while.
