Description Pulled my Les Paul out of the closet. It's been sitting in there for almost 2 years now. I forgot how well she played and realized the reason I always took her with me was for that reason. I bought her back in the late 80's. I know some people do but I never named her.

While I was enjoying the reunion and throwing around some ideas, I came up with this 80's replica.

And if I can find a good enough vocal performance I can bear the stamp of approval.
Lyrics I know I’m going to be up all night
I plan to drive my way home tonight
Staying up with friends till 5 o’clock
I don’t want to stop I want to rock...

Rock ‘n’ roll rock it for ever
I’ve got this fever and I cannot cool down
Rock my soul rock it all over
It holds me and I won’t let it go...

So if you see that I might pass on out
Just hold me up I hope your rather stout
Some unsung business still awaits for me
I hope it all sounds good I guess we’ll see...

Rock ‘n’ roll rock it for ever
I’ve got this fever and I cannot cool down
Rock my soul rock it all over
It holds me and I won’t let it go...

I know my eyes show that they’re over due
I’m having so much fun I haven’t a clue
Day breaks the sun will cover up the night
I loose my sight the glare is way too bright...

Rock ‘n’ roll rock it for ever
I’ve got this fever and I cannot cool down
Rock my soul rock it all over
It holds me and I won’t let it go...

Way to go Tex
You've got a great sound out of the LP, but then it's hard not to get a great sound out of a LP.

Like the song, takes me back to about 86 or 88 somewhere in there. Nice driving beat, bass up in the mix a little more would help it some but that's just MHO. Great vocal John, you have a really good voice for this stuff.

All in all a right nice piece of 80's rock my friend. Good job.

Note to self
More Bass! I finally took a listen in the car and there is some room for improvement. It's a pleasure to have your presence.

So sad...
Back in 1977 I bought a Les Paul custom. It was "damaged" so I got a deal... I think it cost me $795 which was lots of bucks for a HS band member. The "damage" was that the silicon used on the rack to hang it had left to little marks in the finish on the neck. Other than that it was perfect.

That guitar played so nice. I've never found another that played as well.

In 1984 my (now ex) wife scolded me that I rarely played it, we were broke, why don't I sell it. Well in a moment of weakness I said ok. She sold it to guy at the restaurant she worked at. I never saw a dime and I think she sold it for like $200 which immediately went to buy a snuff of coke.

I was such an idiot to agree to that. I'll never forget how well that guitar played and how special it was to me. All gone for a puff of white dust!

Great song texas and yes your little one is as cute as they come. Watch out or you'll see this picture before you know it and she'll be a teen rocking with that guitar in an all girl heavy metal band. You'll wonder where the years went!

MarkHolbrook said 171 days ago
I should probably add...
I wasn't doing the coke... she was... I'm pretty sure she sold the guitar, collected the $200, then turned around and hit up her coke dealer and it was gone in 20 seconds.

What a waste!

Sorry to hear that Mark.
Such a shame. Maybe it's your turn to land a great deal and in the near future you'll acquire a replacement. Thanks for the comments.

STOP that shiot!
Never mind people wouldn't understand *)

That said the vocals on this truly are not doing anything for the song.

Awesome tune!!
I have to relate a story, your line, "So if you see that I might pass on out, just hold me up I hope you're rather stout" and the fact you played a Les Paul reminded me of this story lol. Pull up a chair mate lol. Back in the old days when I was giggin I was playin for a local band in my home town. We got a gig at the one and only rock and roll bar in town. The Bass player didn't think my Aria pro cardinal was cool enough looking, so he lent me his Les Paul to play for the show. The night before we were scheduled for our 3 day gig we went in and set up, but couldn't get the sound check down, so we were there till 5 am trying to pin it down. I had to work a shift at my day job the next day, and didn't sleep. Opening night I was exhausted to say the least, and felt like I was coming down with something. We were about a third of the way through the second set and that Les Paul was getting HEAVY lol. I started to get light headed and wobbly, the bass player noticed and asked if I was gonna be alright, and as I went to answer (right in the middle of 2 tickets to paradise btw) I started to faint and was falling forward most likely because of the weight of the Les Paul ;o) and the the Bass player reached out and grabbed my pony tail just before I did a face plant off the stage and onto the concrete dance floor. I folded to my knees and came around before I actually blacked out and finished the song on my knees. I stood up and looked at the bass player and said "thanks for saving me from a face plant" to which he replied "Thank Les, I woulda let you go if you weren't playing my guitar" lol. To this day I'm not sure he was joking lol.
Great rockin tune TF You have some chops man and a new fan.

TEXASFEEL said 167 days ago
That's funny
I guess in the heat of the moment it all worked out. I know what you mean when it comes to Les Pauls. There's a resemblance, I use to play a Custom that a bass player/singer owned in one of the bands I was a member of. It was really heavy. When the first Les Paul Studios came out I was pleasantly surprised at how light they were and bought me one of them instead.

When my last band use to play parties we used our own sound system, when we played bars we usually used the bars sound system and only had about 15 minutes for a sound check. Some of the sound guys were awful. You always had to make the best of the situation.

Thanks so much for mingling and the kind comments.
