Description Last month Bo Diddley moved on to that great gig in the sky. A rock and roll creator from his start in Chicago on Checker Records, Bo carved out his own beat that would make the boys and girls crazy at the sock hops.

Bo’s beat was dirty. It resonated from the Stones version of Not Fade Away, Who - Magic Bus, Strangeloves – I Want Candy, Springsteen – She’s the One, to today KT Tunstell – Big Black Horse and the Cherry Tree and many more, not to mention the covers of Bo’s own tunes by the Yardbirds, Dead, Thorogood, etc.

I wrote this tune as a tip of the hat to Bo a few years back and got to finishing it.

Edgewood Point is the place in Everytown, USA where a boy takes his girl in his Daddy’s car to look up at the stars and steal away a first kisses.

JL: Words, music, acoustic and electric guitars, bass, organ, drum programming, percussion, production and mix.

Horns: The Fabulous Rigatoni Boys

Lyrics Edgewood Point by BossHook

In the midnight hour of the desolate sun
I’m the fortune seeker of the dangerous fun
On the edge of nowhere, at the brink of bliss
I’ll be waiting baby, for your tender kiss

The moon is high and the lights are low
Where the desperate try just to make it so
I will meet you there we can take it slow
Where the lovers dare I know you want to go
To Edgewood Point

Out to Edgewood Point
Where all the deals go down
And the lovers dance in this sleepy town

In the twilight shadows of the weekend plans
I’m the fortune seeker in the marching band
By the banks of the beat down trails in the park
I’ll be waiting baby for your signal in the dark

The moon is high the lights are low
Where the desperate try just to make it so
I will meet you there we can take it slow
Where the lovers dare I know you want to go
To Edgewood Point

Out to Edgewood Point
Where all the deals go down
And the lovers dance in this sleepy town

Hey Bo Diddley, thank you for your rhythm
The boys and girls go crazy when they hear that Diddley beat

John,
Thanks for finishing this amazing tune!

You are right, sometimes we forget how many people certain artists influenced over the years. Bo did have his own down dirty beat and it changed the music of a generation and the shock waves have continued even into the music of today.

I love the guitars working in this tune John. The lyrics are great. How many times did I go to "lovers lane" growing up... Don't remember getting that many first kisses though... guess I was kinda clumsy around girls! Hee hee.

Your vocals always shine John and the overall mix on this tune is great.

Thanks again for finishing this!

Thanks
Mark, glad you dig that Bo Diddley beat!

Vic Holman said 171 days ago
you know Bo
excellent tune. I like how you built off of the beat and turned it into a good pop rocker. Almost into a earlier Springsteen kinda thing.

Two things I notice is that the bass could come up some. I'm not hearing much of it. the other thing although minor is the guitar on the right I found was competing for your vocals, which I think are really great.

All in all, a great tune!

thanks Vic - I think your production notes are right on the money and if I go further with the tune I will remix it for sure. Thanks.

Great Tune
John, I like that slapback vox effect. Very, very upbeat tune. Your chord selections, as usual, are top notch and I love the quirky panned guitar coming in my right ear. Nice one.

Bo-rrific
Boss, nice job capturing that soulful vibe. The horns are terrific, as is the production. Love your vocal. Like Vic said, a little early Bruce in there. Excellent

Thanks
yeah, the Bruce influence is in my bones.

I thought I
might find something really good if I went looking in the 7 and 8 rating category. This is such a good song. I am a huge Bo Diddley fan and this is a more than worthy tribute to him. Thanks for posting this. It's a great mix and performance. I would agree with Vic on the Bass and vocals, I'm hearing the same thing. You sing very well, and the vox seem a little under the mix.

Cool song - great tribute
definitely a boss number (you and him) I get the name now I think. Really well sung and arranged. I remember when I was a kid and things that were really cool were "boss". That was in Philly in the early sixties.
