A letter 2 Hiphop
Real Cool Moses I am not really a hip hop Rap fan but You's pretty cool.
singer you are. I love the way you read the letter out too. Way to go. Music is really cool too. Well done.

Peace Dee

Thanks Dee
Well it's cool if your not a rap fan as long as you Hiphop Moses fan :D because I plan to do it all and knock down Genre barriers until it's just music.

Returned to Sender...
Hip-Hop Unknown. LOL

I like the humor and irony of this song, as well as its very smooth musical bed. I *listened* to the rap, but really dug the harmony vocal work.

Nice work, Moses. ;)

Interesting take on the matter
Very creative idea, and great execution.

Smooth sounds too. I like that bass that just glides through the music.

HipHopMoses said 175 days ago
Thank you Vic
I'm glad you liked it. I've been having to defend Hiphop a lot lately but at the same time having my own disappointments. I was reminded as a kid, when me and one of my older cousins got into outside and the this older kid that didn't like was like "yeah you aint nothing I'll help him beat you up. Well we both ending up beating him up and my cousin told him " I can talk to him that way cause we're Family but your not" ahh to be a kid again LOL

Sophisicated...
This is as smooth as pouring cream... Really like the chord voicings and the harmonies. And obviously you have a nice rhythm track holding it all down...

I can see why you love Logic - you make it sing sweetly for you.

What a wonderful
sound you have created. Great lyrical ideas - the sound bed is fantastic, love the jazzy keys. The vocal harmonies are just superb. I really love this - shame no download.
Cheers

This is
just so nice, nice, nice; love everything about it the backing , backing vocal harmonies, your singing and your rap (and I never would have said I liked rap till I heard you here at MJ). You have the most clear voice for rap so that every word is audible and a nice message too. Love the smoothness here ......and good luck with the CD, cheers M

HipHopMoses said 165 days ago
Thanks Moviz
What a great comment from you, something as an artist you always love getting. I've decided to do more than one Cd, since I feel I can hold my own in a couple different Genres(debatable I'm sure). I love R&B and Love songs, I am Hiphop, and I wanna give my Rock side a chance. Thanks for the wish of luck I'll need it he he he.

Very cool
and very smooth Mr Moses!!!

Wow
Have to say that hip hop has never been on my radar for my usual listening, but this is a very nice chart. Nice chord transitions, impeccable recording. I like the groove and feel. Singing is spot on. I like the little organ lick about 2/3 of the way in; very subtle little thing in the background, but a cool addition. Nicely done.

HipHopMoses said 165 days ago
Thanks Bubowski
Glad you liked it and that organ lick started out as a mistake but I liked it too so I kept it.

A letter 2 Hiphop
Since I don't know much about Hiphop I don't feel qualified to vote on this or critique it so I'll just leave a comment to let you know I was here.

I do like the mix on this with one caveat. It has an interesting mix of sounds that work well from what I hear, but for my ears the Vox is a little to far back in the mix. Need to bring the vocals up a little so the lyrics can be heard without straining.

Other than that this sounds very good to me Moses.

Be well and be cool man

Ed

I forgot to mention this one thing
To me, even though this has a hiphop beat to it, the song sound more like Jazz to me. Maybe you can start a new trend and call it Jazz-Hop.

Anyway, it's cool sounding.

Ed

HipHopMoses said 165 days ago
Thanks Sloparts
Here's the thing at-least in my mind you don't really need to know the Genre to like or get something from a song. I like were the vocals are sitting right now, but I appreciate the tip.

Before HipHop got it's name it was consider part of Jazz, Funk or other ... Gil Scott-Heron is one of these artist but there are many others who might surprise you. Ray Charles, James Brown, and Count Basie (30's), actually have Hiphop songs of their own. Hiphop usually crosses Genre barriers I'm just continuing the trend. Now I do have a Latin-Hop song :)

great
great production, vocals, and lyrics. Nas said "Hip Hop is Dead." KRS-One said "Hip Hop Lives." Your track continues and clarifies the debate ;). Great stuff. But seriously, where is Lauryn Hill?? Miss her.

wow
I was directed to this from your forum post. The message is read loud and clear over here. I think every genre needs a letter like this. Your message is so well told. It's firm, but you're not disrespectful, you're earnest. I'm glad you posted the forum link. This is great!

Pete_NB said 159 days ago
Syrupy smooth
Hard to avoid that word "smooth", as so many other posters to this song have used. That's because it's maybe the smoothest sound I've heard on Macjams.

Smooth vocals singing some great lyrics and a seamless job getting everything blended together, almost like you rubbed out all the hard edges of a drawing with your thumb.

Smooth!

a far stretch
from 'Spread Love'? but maybe not., bro.

"if you feed a man a fish, you can feed him for a lifetime..." Priceless words there

I don't qualify to crit this or anything, but a cool groove. You always have a super vox thing going, no doubt the gold in there, Moses. A big heart, no less - you can't put a tab on that value, appreciate that.

Sweet groove
Awsome, I think you have a great sounding rap voice, cool attitude. But mainly I love the musicality of it. Great harmonies and singing parts too. The actual rap is tight and engaging to listen to. Sounds really pro, even when you are cramming a lot of words together, it works and is still smooth, not forced like you hear with rappers that are trying to hard to fit it all in. I also love that the music in the background is as interesting as the rapping and singing. Too often this seems to get left behind or is afterthought.
