Description
I got bored on the train. And I have always loved this piece which tells of a miller's daughter, how she falls in love with a soldier in spring in the first verse, is jilted in autumn the second, and dies in the snows of winter in the final. I wanted to show the three stages through the orchestration - almost a full orchestra for the first verse, voice, violin and piano in the second, and voice, flute and piano in the final verse. Flute has always seemed a bit mournful to me, which is why I included it there. This is also my first time using the voice plugin with EWQLSO.

You've got a Scot's lilt here
I suspect this is a Scottish tune and you've definitely got that 19th century romantic interpretation of Scottish airs off to a tee in your arrangement, so much so that I wasn't so bothered about the faux strings - tho' I am a fiddler myself!
Thanks for posting, I enjoyed listening.
