Description i did a score for a short demo reel. the client asked for something russian sounding. here's what i came up with. (the crescendos are kinda lifeless without the accompanying picture, but you get the idea.)

Hardware korg k-49 keyboard, v-drums

Software: cubase 4, halion1, many other vst instruments.

	Foot Chase in Moscow Giant ..this is a giant work my friend ..what a huge piece ..loved yur way of writing ..the snare the low cellos ..the beat all gives what exactly you wanted to give ..very great piece ..thnx alot for sharin such gem !!!!!

this was my first real midi composition (short as it is). i just came up with the three different themes, shuffled them around to match the picture, adjusted tempos. really, i'm quite amazed at how composing midi is so flexible and powerful (in cubase at least... never tried in garageband.) then, if it ever comes down to it, i can print out sheet music for an orchestra. (gosh, i sound like a salesman or something. :)

thanks for your comment about it sounding full. i have many vst instruments going on this one (particularly cubase's halion1 - great string sounds). i'm glad it came out sounding somewhat real.

	Good theme I like the main theme that starts in the cellos. What instrument comes in there before the bells take over? It is a cool choice. Very pleasing and unexpected melody in that section.

	Very impressive piece The arrangement is superb, and the sounds are perfectly chosen and used to great effect. Nice dramatic use of percussion, and wonderfully evocative piece. The title says it all! Nicely done. Peace.

really, really good man. definitely has that 'chase' vibe and the instruments sound pretty authentic. sounds like it could be in a Bourne movie set in Russia. I gotta say though it bugs me that there is no real 'ending'. I mean I know why you did it and it probably works with the visual, but if I know you, I'm sure it bugs you as well. Take a couple of hours and tag an ending on there instead of fading out. DO IT! Only then will your venture into this genre be complete.

	i can see the Russian thing. funny, when the drums first came in it kind of reminded me of ABBA (a good thing surely). this is really nicely done. would love to hear a version with big echoey guitar over the top (ala Sigur Ros).

	cheers! thanks for the comment. yes, the client definitely wanted upbeat, but with a russian theme. i think the scale i'm using for some of the melodies/counter-melodies (i couldn't tell you what mode it is) is what adds a distinct colour and depth. thanks again for listening!

	before the bell the instrument before the bells is a dulcimer, but it didn't quite have enough high-end, so i blended in some harpsichord with it. and there's also some pizz strings too. i, personally, like the oboe part. i remember in high school detesting the oboe and french horn... i love them now! thanks for listening!

	he shoots, he scores! hehe. thanks for the comment, bill! this could definitely be expanded upon. mind you, i had so much fun creating it, i might just want to start fresh (unless it's an obvious fit). i really like the idea of scoring to picture, because one can get away with some pretty over the top dynamics. cheers!

	thanks yeah, i could have gone on further, maybe introduce a new theme. but that's where their demo ended, so that's why it fades out where it does.

	thanks, neil! the tempo i chose lined up nicely with the animation for most of this demo reel, so i didn't want to change that, but the last scene ran a just a bit too long before the credits came up. so this slow down at the end worked with the drama of the very last image and also allowed me to 'put off' the credits music for a second or two.
