Keywords Doris MacEvening And The Ranch House Of Odin (1)
Description I got into a really rich vein of slack when I started this tune...it's on Gararageband 08 and I enjoyed messing about with the pitch control thingy to the extent that I lost interest in what the original premise was about. I started off playing a Roland midied up to the GB Grand Piano and soon became convinced that 'Wedding of The Year' would be an ongoing project which could only reasonably expected to be completed by a far distant ancestor of mine.
Drawing heavily on the authentic backwoods of Glasgow country roots this tune includes some hacked up and re-keyed GB pedal steel loops and an electric piano going through a Leslie...and bells of course for the happy day.
It's in the key of C if you'd like to play along. Y'all be lucky now.
Lyrics She soon discovered half the vodka missing
While the taxi meter ran the pennies into pounds
She downed the rest while I fixed on her flower
Then a geezer called Raj he drove us into town

It's the Wedding of the Year
But the bride did not appear
The groom went off on honeymoon
With a random volunteer
(but we're still here)

Somebody's Uncle set fire to his trousers
A tiny spark that soon became a flame
He flapped around to that tune 'I've Got The Power'
I heard him scream 'Help - this suit's a hire'

It's the Wedding of the Year
But the bride did not appear
The groom went off on honeymoon
With a random volunteer
(but we're still here)

I was laughing
as I was reading your lyrics even before signing in LOL and now I've heard the melody and your sultry vox I'm convinced this would be a hit at any wedding or even on 'Family Favourites'..... and who kept pulling the plug on the Pedal steel??? I hate kids at weddings LOL, Enjoyed as always, cheers M

Kids at weddings.
You are not wrong there Mo, kids at weddings they get kinda hyper... but then sometimes the adults do too it's all kinda hysterical and before you know it - it's gone all off big time - any warrants out for you pal cos the cops are on their way. Maybe it's because everyone subconsciously realises they're watching a ceremony which is essentially flawed in it's fundamental concept of absolute fidelity.

Cheers

Fun
Nice bending and twisting in the mix. Love the hilariously twisted lyrics too.

Thanks
Bill

The lyrics on this
are excellent. I cracked up. Brilliant story, filled with almost cinematic imagery and truly memorable lines ("Somebody's Uncle set fire to his trousers" - I think I was at that wedding!) Nice melody, too, and very good performance. A gem. Nicely done. Peace.

I think I was
at that wedding. I may have been to drunk to remember though. It would explain the burns on my trousers and why I couldn't get "I've got the power" out of my head for the following week. This was very funny BPJ it reminded me of a few I have been to in the past. Thanks for the laugh and sharing this charming little ditty.

You managed to capture the genre for the Grand Ole Opry. Funny lyrics... and that Pedal Steel is all over the place. Thanks for sharing.

Keep 'em coming
More mind bending exercises from the guy who`s own mind is put together a little wrong (fortunately)!

One never knows what they`ll get when they press play on one of your pages. Keeps me coming back for more.

Another great story told
Helluva storyteller and your delivery's killing me. You're a favorite of mine from my first couple of listens. Now the challenge: figuring out which to swipe for my collection, for that the fine, fine price you're asking. Thanks.
