Description Stripped down "liveish" version of a previously posted song.About two cultures....and I dunt meant summat as grows in a petri dish.......
Lyrics Country Musics playing
On me radio
Its junk yard dogs
and pick up trucks
they rarely sing of snow
I thought I would have a try
But its hard to write
A country song
when your arse is freezing under a Yorkshire winter sky

We dont have a Rio Grand (sic)
No cowboys wit spurs on boots
We dont have cactus plants Coyotes or Buttes
I thought I might have a try etc

As you listen to this song
pleas dont think that I'm
Just another tosspot
having a bloody whine
Theres lots of things here thats grand
and if you want to sing
well then ere sithhee listen daft lad
write the sodding song in spring.

Now we may not have sultry climes
but we have got the Penines
rolling acres of grass green Dales
Wi real pubs selling hand pulled ales
I dont think country song writing
for me will be all that grand
I'm going to sell this old guitar
play triangle in a brass band
Hardware V-ax 700 and Gilberthwaite Taverners and Shunters Brass
Band...........

Definitely best in show Chris.
A Country song written in the dead of winter in Yorkshire. What could be more Country than that. Now admittedly, the lyrics are , how shall I say this, a bit different than most of the Country songs I've heard, but the spirit is alive and well in Merry Old, that's easy to see and hear.

Great track my friend, thoroughly entertaining and a delight to listen to.

Kudos to you Chris for a job well done.

Ed

Jarvoid said 141 days ago
Well thanks Ed , this is
a daft whimsical sort of take on Country music I like to think. But definitely done in the spirit of that genre and
probably about being glad for what you have got, even if pining for the sweeping plains!!!

Appreciate your listen and comments :-)

Hi Len,when you've experienced a Lazy Yorkshire Wind in Winter, you know how it is!!and how it has to be told!!

Jarvo

Explanation of Terminology for those as might Not Know.
( A Lazy Yorkshire Wind is a damp and bitter cold wind as can't be arsed to blow round you,it just cuts straight through you )

Doadars Uncle said 141 days ago

But then again, I'm from Wisconsin, may as well be Yorkshire!

Heyup, I just remembered I went on a brewery trip to Miller Lite Brewery in 1987,so I have been in Wisconsin, 'appen some of it rubbed off and then resurfaced 21 years later in a song....mind you I wanted to visit the Harley factory, but as Miller were picking up the tab for a week long jaunt...How Do, thanks for stopping by and jogging the old grey matter.......

This is,,,,,
a great country song. I loved everything about it. Great tongue in cheek work here. Good thing you don't live in Canada.

Jarvoid said 137 days ago
EE eck as like
I am led to believe that you have two wardrobes one fer
winter one fer summer and in winter you get proper snow as stays put not the 'orrible slush that goes in a day !!

I think I'd like Canada!

bud said 138 days ago
Way to to tell it like it is
love the meandering guitar and relaxed delivery - very country comfy. But the brass band is the clincher. Fine tune.

Jarvoid said 137 days ago
.
I thought the brass band might be a winner, I suppose over here that makes this Country and Northern!!

Cheers Jarvo

Ibstrat said 137 days ago

Great
You have a good feel, on the lead guitar... Both the sound, but also the playing.... And your singing is something i wanna learn of.... With the kind of talking and singing together... And what a great ending of the song... With the keyboards... Great, great tune....

Jarvoid said 126 days ago
Thanks
Mr Light Man,you are very kind. This is a bit of daft humorous stuff but I enjoyed doing it. Glad you stopped and gave it a listen, thanks again.
