Keywords Self improvement (1)don't follow the herd (1)
Description We all need to recognize (our human traits :) that it is better to improve our personalities in any way we can than to go with the norm.

After this life, no bodies to help us improve. So lets take advantage of it now:) I think I am speaking to me more than anyone else. Some self thought, maybe a few might think that way to ?

Dropped D, Capo on 5th fret
Bought new medium strings because my daughter Robin, bought me a special gift card from Guitar Center. Elixors.

As Always
you play a piece of music in an exceptional way; wonderful to the ears..... (and I think you're right about us needing to recognize our human traits and improve them while we're here, because we're already on the 'path', not just when we go to the other side.I'm sure you agree that it will also help us on our way, to be able to recognize, accept and help others in their failings while we're travelling this road).... this sounds like a bright sunny morning and as though it's travelling forward; lovely as always, cheers M

ya
I am thinking sometimes as I get older, I won't have my body to be around on the other side. So I guess I will get guitar withdrawal :)

A Road Less Travelled
I'm on my way out for a 4 day motorcycle trip and am catching up on a little MJ music before departing. I saw you had uploaded a new tune AND the song title and of course had to check it out. The photo you choose reminds me of a kind of places I'll be for the next few days and the amazing guitar work of the great Tiler is the perfect sound for the send off. Music of the road - thanks Bill - you are a giant of a guitar player and song writer. Have a great 4th!

Roxylee said 142 days ago
Gee, Bill
Do you think if I dropped D down and put my capo on the 5th fret, my guitar skills would improve? Seriously, this is amazing playing. It's... perfect! I like the art, too.

announcer said 142 days ago
everything's here
It is fun to listen to a well written and performed 2 minute song. I have nothing against longer songs but I am always amazed with a song that says everything it needs to say in just 2 minutes. It is an art unto itself to make a song short but complete.

thetiler said 142 days ago
Thanks
Feter, BW, Moviz, Announcer, Magna and Roxy Lee.

*A special note, we have a very special incredibly cute little dog called Roxy,. My son's girlfriend is living in the house and she very petite dog. So full have energy like RoxyLee a(Jack Russell Terrier) You have to have that to do such a great job at responding to all the tunes she does and the great and complimentary way she writes them.

When I think of Roxy this cute dog, I often think of Roxy at MJ. I guess it is such a unique name as well. Though this dog is 7 and probably not named after you RoxyLee, it is a nice reminder!

Thanks much you all!

Always the purveyor of great things
musical, you seem to have a knack for playing the best finger style guitar. This is just like everything else you play Bill, clean, pristine, and wonderfully done.

You are master to the fretboard my friend. Thanks for sharing this great piece.

Ejh said 142 days ago
Really nicely played and recorded, Bill...
...and nicely composed, too... Lovely brightness that's still liquid, never brittle or harsh... Just a taste of chorus, and a lush reverb setting...

what
a wonderful playing, the sound is great - wow!

12parsecs said 142 days ago
thoughtful preamble.
beautiful song. neat tuning, couple of really cool chords in there! well recorded and mixed too. those 451s are sure bright. may i ask, did you mic them x/y or neck and bridge?

thetiler said 141 days ago
I miced
them on each side of the hole. But I really try to stay as far away from the frets as possible because it causes too much fret slipage sound.

Thanks

Cameron said 142 days ago
(too) short and sweet
The only thing I don't like about this piece is that it's too short. I wanted it to go on forever on this lazy Amurrikan B-day, cold beer in hand, enjoying being home for a change!

This piece was perfect for kicking back. But it's hard to relax in only two minutes! ;-)

Great playing and recording as usual.

J.A.Stewart said 141 days ago
Sweet!
Boy, does this sound great, Bill.

Fingers flying up and down that fretted road. Interesting little *drops* in the melody line make it far more interesting than it might have been.

More and more, your playing is moving toward masterful. And I believe Logic has helped to really showcase the beautiful sound of your guitar.

Great stuff, my friend. ;)

The notes inside

Great music .
You make everything sound very clear , the melody on top , and all
the backing with a warm sound .

Joy
Your playing always makes me feel tremendous joy, and no one does this any better than you do. This has a wonderful, uplifting spirit, which I'm guessing is probably because that's how you were feeling when you played it. Absolutely top-notch.

I love that drop D
And you've mastered that for sure! The one thing that I really don't like about this is the chorus. It's sort of a fun experiment, I guess, but I'd sure like to hear it without that effect. I like your pure guitar so much, but in a pinch, I'll take this with the effect intact, if that's all I can get. Just thought I'd mention it. All the best,
Jim

Micheal_Wark said 140 days ago
Geez Bill...
This is superb! But how could I expect anything less from thetiler?

Be well friend!

Great
Hi Tiler, your picking tone is always so impressive so I was a bit surprised to hear some effects processing on this one. I probably would prefer your unprocessed sound but what the heck this is still one great little nugget of guitar playing and composition.
Cheers
Steve

thetiler said 139 days ago
I enjoy
working in Logic 8, I guess the temptation was too great. I basically tried to bring out the greatest warmth in the piece. Maybe doing so many pieces with out the effects that wanted to add a little Logic 8 creativity. But of course this might get down to a Senate and House veto bill. The acousticrates and the pluginreps :) Of course they say the mind is two sided. Maybe I have the acousticrates on one side of the brain and the other plugin Reps :)
