Description This is the bass line for Bryan Bishops composition "TUBAPHLAPP"...he was showing it to me at rehearsal and the mac was running...so it captured this little jam. I almost threw it away by accident... glad I didnt cuz it has a cool groove to and it is fun. Note the part where I try and start an actual song...and the guys ignore me completely and continue on the funk....

for fans of improvised music...no fixes or o'dubs...just some free time.

Love the bass line here. Great track as it is or as a starting point for something else. Always amazed at how well you guys keep going without and "fixes".

Thanks
Bill

This is what it's all about,
musicians having a great time and bringing the audience along with them. Great track ziti, thanks for posting it.

The GREAT ZITI strikes again. Ziti - King of Dukes, that improvisational wizard of MJ. This is GREAT! I could just listen to you play all night (and all the next day), and on and on. I'm just so happy to know you!!

likewise!!

Vic Holman said 188 days ago
now, why in heck....
... hasn't anyone mentioned a Hendrix moment here. Talking about after E.L. Land, when he was mapping out a new sound, fits right in.

ziti said 188 days ago
totally hendrix
when bryan started playing his bass line....the hendrix tone came out...this s a sort of band of gypsies out take sounding thing.
i
Bryans complete composition TUBAPHLAPP, has more to it i believe, but we just jammed on this one section.

but i love these little jams....they are so full of joy and surprise...making music like this with people you really love is a great great joy.

Very Band of Gypsies...
Very reminiscent of 'Who Knows', which is one of my very favorites... A neat study in funk-blues... You can hear how the bass locks to the drums and vice versa, but then you also can hear the lock from bass to guitar...

Everybody's tone and playing is really neat... Sounds like everybody's listening...

Dude!
Gotta love that bass line!

Listening to this makes me wish I didn't give up my piano lessons - I'd love to be able to improvise something on that caliber.

A funkalicious jam session!

Nothing like when something like this just happens - lovely playing. What a tight rhythm section!

Love it.

I'm jealous...

I want a band, too...

...couldn't find one at WalMart...actually; I couldn't even find a Walmart...

I felt sorry for you when they ignored you, Fran...such a tragedy...

Sweet and cool jammin' dudes...

Jam indeed
I'm enjoying the playing of all parties involved, but this is really a late night jam; not a single, not an album track, and even at a gig you may have second thoughts on whether to inflict this on an audience. Around 3:30 and definitely 3:55 I imagine the guitarist looking around him with a look that says "Ok guys, who gives the signal that this song is over?"

ziti said 164 days ago
funny....
we inflicted the audience with stuff like this last night...and the place went bananas....go figure

no, it is not an album track, it is a jam i caught and i thought was fun. I think i stated that in the blurb..

maybe you should read my explanations before you write your critique.

glad you enjoyed the playing. that, and the spontaneous interaction between the musicians, is all this is about. as i stated...a bit of free time.

thanks vic

Blown away, I am!
I'm glad you didn't throw it away either, because this is fantastic. I'm blown away by the fact that this is a jam, and not a final production, 'cause it sounds fantastic!
