Lovely song and very well played/sung. I agree that the bass could be a bit more prominent in the mix. Cheers Len |

Hi Guy First of yours I've heard and am liking a lot about this. There's some really nice vocal work going on and there's some neat ideas with the guitar. If I could make a couple of suggestions I think that the lead guitar which plays most of the way through is a bit distracting - this could drop out more and become more of an 'accent' when needed (with a smidgen less phase effect on it). Also the rhythm guitar that's 'strummed' sounds a little jangly, or perhaps a bit high in the mix. Lastly, get the voice higher up in the mix. You've got a lovely, smooth voice and it's getting lost in the mix. Ooops that turned into a real crit - didn't mean it to sound like I don't like the song - I DO! Good stuff, and welcome to MJ's Phil |

Well Done my friend.Reminds me of Wilco in a lot of ways which is a good thing in my book.Vocal work is what I like the most here and although I prefer to see some lyric sheet, the fact you are honest enough to admit you're too lazy is refreshing.Still appreciate what you've got going on here. I like what I can hear Guy, but being a little deaf, it's hard to pull all the lyrics out of the mix. Your vocal and your voice sounds terrific, you have a very rich deep voice my friend. I agree this needs a remix. All the elements are there, but it's a little distracting in places and it needs more definition and space between the various instruments. Easily fixed in the mastering process. This is a wonderful song that deserves a new mix so it can shine like it should Guy. And by the way, I can't imaging this at a slower tempo. I suspect it would sound draggy and lose all it's energy. And believe me this has a lot of energy to the song. Great piece of work Guy, now go fix the mix my friend. Ed |

Flow Thanks for visiting my recent songs. Time for a return visit! This is a delightful track. Great song, and I love the flow of this. I don't know what it would sound much slower, but this is not rushed, it just has a great southern rock flow to it. The mix is not bad at all. It sounds good and open. The bass is bit timid. Did you play it yourself? Many guitar players are afraid to apply the sort of force to bass strings that they require. But it could also be the mix: the low and low mid is a bit undefined, it kind of drones on. Other than that I like the sound of this. |

Nice Work I like the licks between the verses. It reminds me of the band Luna. It's one of those songs that you could see youself driving on a long country road and taking in a breath of fresh air. Your vox sound great, especially with the harmonies. I liked this alot. Thanks |

This rolls along very nicely I love the song but like others I'd bring the bass up and hold back a bit on the lead guitar that wanders in and out. Nice tone on the guitars and good vocal work. Cheers Dick |

THis has a nice rambling alt country sound. You have a distinctive voice and the wandering lead guitar reminds me of the guy from 10,000 Maniacs - it works for the tune but like was said before, maybe the vocal can just be put out front more or the lead can be mixed up and down to avoid clashing. |

good song... but I disagree with the friend who told you to speed it up. Up tempo beats are taking the feelings out of your lyrics. If your original slower version was not working, maybe you should try it even slower (if you can stand it) If that makes the song too long you might have to consider which parts of the lyrics are the most important and to some trimming. (I don't sing, so I'm not afraid to say that). Your production techniques are better than mine, so I can't comment on that. I hope my comments are taken the right way and don't sound too critical, I do like your songwriting. |

Very nice A lovely song, and an interesting story about the speed; it's often the key to getting a song right in my opinion. This sounds just right to me at this tempo. The lyrics are really nice, and the playing is good. Most of the things I noticed about the performance and production have already been mentioned, I see, but for the record: I'd bring the vocal up a little, the bass needs to be more prominent, and I agree that the guitar gets a little distracting. However, these are tiny things when set against the fact that you have a really good song here. Music that makes me want to drive along an open road with the top down! Very cool. Nicely done. Peace. |

A solid pop-rock song This has a very polished sound and feel to it. It sounds great, I like the way the guitar leads us and the vocals color the landscape. Your harmonies really add to the melody. Nice guitar sound BTW. I think you got this one right. |

Great precursor to your latest re-do! Having heard the new version ( Sept '08 ) I had to stop over here and give you the benefit of my perspective, since you shared yours. And it turns out this is still a fine tune, but you really made significant changes on the re-do. For starters, the 10 bpm or you shaved off in the redo make for more emotion in the groove; in contrast, this one sounds like a '70s country ballad -- not bad, but more poppy, but you have to listen more closely to the lyrics to grasp the weight of the message. Also your guitars, particularly the lead, carries more fire on the remake. Still, this remains a really good tune either way, that's the most important thing. |

swings so nice this one swings so nice that i download though the sound mix is a bit .. well se jigumas comment ... but the relaxed country rock mood is so nice i wanna hear it again and again |

Everything works really well here - great harmonies. Nice sound on the electric, although there are a few paces where it's still firing away when the vocals are happening - just a little distracting. Can't hear any bass, and the track could sound much better if it was audible - you've gone to so much trouble to get everything else sounding good.
Congratulations,
Neil
