Description Seems o'l Billy Logan couldn't make this gig. He close encountered a rascal hinny smitten brainsick. Hence the ditty struck a chord and a rumor was inbred. There'd be a lack of a pedal and no slap of steel. The spectacle emanated with a busy banjo to stand-in. Poor o'l Billy, a song to follow his legacy, picked by some day early seasoned chums. Huh?

Amazing stuff John!
This is just SO perfect - it's contemporary but traditional at the same time. Fantastic tune, excellent vocals and brilliant playing - a huge song John. Is that you on banjo?
Congratulations!
Neil

I wish I had a banjo. I used my midi keyboard and one of the banjo instruments included with Logic Pro. Loved your tune as well.

I Get the Distinct Impression...
that you've done this C&W stuff before, John. ;)

Excellent piece of work on all counts AND a very catchy melody. And the Southern accent doesn't sound fake at all. :p

It's a hoot, my friend! ;)

Just two so far
with the country genre, as far as the accent... live here in Texas a while and no one will take you serious. Thanks for your comments.

What a great Country song
Got that old time feel and sounds as real as it gets. Love the laid back feel with the banjo pickin' up the rhythm and making it flow.

Great job John, Kudos to you my friend,

Ed

Oh yeah!
I really like the "newgrass" sound on this.
Definitely filling an unmet need for Banjo on MJ!
Electric guitar solo an inspired choice.

8piscean8 said 145 days ago
Great!
Those vocal harmonies are great! The banjo is also fantastic! The mix on this is right on the money. This is a great toe-tapper John! Very nice electric solo also. I like how the electric continues through the rest of the song once it's introduced. Great job!

Moviz said 145 days ago
I like
the unusual timing of the words on this and of course the banjo. Harmonies are fantastic, and lead excellent, love the lyrics too, love it, regards M

A fantastic ..

.. song John and a brilliant tribute to Marion- gets off horse and drinks his milk ;o).

My father was a fan of the Duke...loved his films .. a true fighter, in every sense... sadly missed.

Your lyrics and the harmonies are particularly fabulous, not to mention all the playing and sweet mix.

Excellent all round. Loved it.

TEXASFEEL said 141 days ago
The Duke was one big man
I'm almost six two and that's me standing next to an actual size wax statue of him.

You know...
...I'm hearing lots of great country western stuff in this GOOC and this is definitely one of the gems...really enjoyed this, John

bud said 145 days ago
The vocals on this are amazing
great harmony and just the right lead - and I swear I never heard a backwards tele solo in a song like this and likely never will again - or does it just have a backwards sound? Now you got me guessing. Coulda sworn it came in backwards but it mighta swung around frontwards after a second to mess with my head. Talk about smitten brainsick. Hats off to you sir!

TEXASFEEL said 141 days ago
No backwards guitar this time.
Just the weird way I play. Thanks for your comments.

Vic Holman said 145 days ago
sorry to hear about Billy....
..... and his brainsick ailment.

.........everything is so dang good 'ole brain smarts here!

dolby said 144 days ago
Great vocals
Love the harmany vocals. Fit the track perfectly. You've got a great mix going here - the double bass sounds fine and the guitar/banjo split is perfect.

Gonna chack out some more of your stuff. A pleasure!

pink and fluffy dancing around the kitchen music!!! whose idea was this GOOC thing?? i'm havin' the BEST time - thank you xoxoxo

Terrifically tight...
...arrangement and mix... I think you could got a perfect "old country" right-on-the-edge-of-too-much reverb sound...

You did a great job singing and playing. The snare and banjo are spot on, and then the nicely surprising grit of the electric guitar pulls it back from being predictable...

Ed

ahhh ... this is sweet john!

Karmatoburn said 141 days ago
hey pardner
The Duke would be proud. Really cool harmony, is that you as well? Fine pickin and melody.

Boa
Irmão, temos que fazer a "Tristeza do Jeca" um dia desses...

hehe heh. Ou, talvez "O Sapinho Caìu nos Braços da Sapinha..."

A harmonia das vozes é óptima; dá p'rá quebrar um galho :)

So Long Now
This is great. Those harmonies sound fantastic. Almost as if you've got the Kingston Trio in there. Very well done!

Very cool
I love the sound on this, and the vocals are absolutely perfect, spot on. Great, tight harmonies and nice lyrics. The banjo sound (is it a banjo?) sounds terrific, and those brush drums are ideal. Very nicely done. This has a professional sound that would not sound remotely out of the place on the radio. Kudos. Peace.
